Top Barcelona Snorkeling

This was to be our last day in Barcelona, so we wanted to get out of the city. We decided to look for something in Costa Brava and found “COSTA BRAVA DAY ADVENTURE: KAYAK, SNORKEL & CLIFF JUMP WITH LUNCH.” My girlfriend was apprehensive because two of those three activities (kayak and snorkel) gave her anxiety (understatement), but she’s a trooper. We strive to step out of our comfort zones, so we went for it. With close to 3,900 5-star reviews, this has to be a good thing. We met our guide (and new friend Tim) at the pick-up point and drove in a van for about an hour to a beautiful cove in Costa Brava. Time flew by because Time entertained us with stories and trivia during the drive. He’s so personable and funny. We got fitted for wet suits, got a quick lesson in the do’s and don’ts of kayaking, and off we went. The weather was perfect. Water was nice and cool, the wetsuits kept us warm. Tim had us racing each other, splashing other kayakers, playing with sea urchins, listening to scary stories, cliff jumping, cave exploring, lunching on rocks by the sea, and snorkeling to find colorful fish and octopus. It was a fantastic day, and every activity was just at the right pace. We could tell he tailored the difficulty level by the capabilities of his group. We can't say enough about Tim. He was smart and funny and got everyone involved, comfortable and feeling safe. There was one couple who couldn’t keep up with the kayaking, and he roped them up to his kayak and pulled them along so the rest of us didn’t have to wait and they felt safe as well since they capsized early on! Tim was so capable and good at his job that my girlfriend who hated kayaking (her previous experience was traumatizing) and feared snorkeling ( she nearly drowned) immediately stated that she now loves both activities and will do it again (and again). After kayaking was done, we had a couple hours to explore Costa Brava, but we decided to stop at a local restaurant to have coffee, tapas, beer and cava with Tim. We made a new friend. Tim's personality, skill, wit, sense of humor, sassiness — plus the activities, the scenery, the beach, the weather, the people — what a fabulous combination. This was the best adventure we’ve ever booked on Viator. WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS TOUR — Make sure you ask for TIM!!!! We mean it.

such a fun outing! the whole day was so fun, we really enjoyed being able to swim around and explore. Andy our guide was super cool and chill really made the whole trip amazing. wetsuits were included which was great because it was a little overcast when we started but the water was so warm and we saw so many fish and amazing wildlife!! definitely recommend if you’re tired of walking through museums and want something more lowkey!

Miquel was an amazing skipper. He was welcoming, kind, knowledgable and engaging. Hearing his stories about sailing, as well as his career before were a wonderful opportunity to learn more. He made the adventure a standout part of my trip to Spain. While the weather is outside his control, it was a perfect day to sail the Mediterranean, which made it even better. I’d recommend this experience to anyone looking for a different view of Barcelona for 90 minutes.
