It is simply different world.
Everything is beautiful. The moment you see them in distance and step in

We were picked up shortly after 8 near our riad and taken to the meeting place, where we were instructed to board the bus quickly. The driver was very kind and shared a lot about the history, culture, and sights we passed in English, Spanish, and French. Later on, he became quieter, sometimes remaining silent for long periods as we drove through landscapes that, perhaps, weren’t particularly special to him culturally.
We made three stops on the way to Chefchaouen. The first was a panoramic view over a dam, where we were supposed to stay for 15 minutes but only ended up there for about 5 before heading back to the bus. The second stop was for a bathroom break and possibly coffee, and the third stop provided a panoramic view of Chaouen itself. At that point, he explained that "chef" means to look or see, so “Go to Chefchaouen” used to mean “Go to see Chaouen.” He also kindly warned us that some people might ask for money if we took pictures from "their" spot, which I appreciated.
Upon arriving in the city, he showed us the entrance to the Medina but had to drop us off a bit of a distance away since he wasn't allowed to park right in front. He mentioned that “there's nothing around the old medina” and encouraged us to take pictures inside. He would return at 4:30.
The Medina of the blue city is certainly interesting and impressive, with many cute photo spots; however, it’s not a place to stay in for over four hours. Many merchants sell similar tourist goods at relatively high prices. Fortunately, we encountered some friendly merchants who shared insights about their culture and traditions. After exploring for about two and a half hours, we decided to look for food outside the medina. A short walk away, we found a nice place offering delicious meals at better prices than what was available inside the medina.
On the way back, the driver was quieter and kindly apologized for any discomfort. He seemed to be in a hurry. During our bathroom break, he asked where he should drop us off for the tour’s conclusion. When we arrived in Fes near the Blue Door, he quickly instructed us to get off the bus and pushed us towards a petit taxi, mentioning that it would cost 5 Dirham to reach our destination. Everything happened so fast that we hardly processed it all.
Overall, the Medina of Chefchaouen is charming and beautiful, and it was definitely worth the trip. However, a shorter visit would have alleviated some of the stress and hurry during our travel to and from the location.

I asked the driver many times to open the air-conditional but he ignored me. I don’t know if the air-conditional is broken or the mininbus doesn’t have. Terrible experience with super hot inside the van for 8 hours! (Tour on 1st October 2024).
