Our guide Louzi was so kind and gave us great explanations about the places we visited.
We had a wonderful experience over the three days.
Although the desert camp was located on the edge of the desert, the tent had air conditioning and was comfortable.
It was quite hot during the day, so it would have been nice if we could have ridden the camels a bit later in the evening.

We enjoyed the tour a lot! I was travelling with my sister in law so for us safety was the number one thing.
This is a beautiful country! Imad The dessertman: the driver was a very nice and helpful person, amazing driving skills, good English and communication, the roads are safe and picturesque as well. We would have stops for panoramic views or anytime anyone needed. Also a great group of people.

This was a great experience. Our driver and tour guide Mohamed was very informative and a safe driver. He shared all about the Moroccan culture.
The supplied meals were good and the lunch stops were adequate.
The highlight was the camel ride sunset and Ait Benhaddou.
The only negative was the listed "luxury" tent. It is very misleading to call it luxury. I would call it more rustic. Still was a great experience but a little disappointing when you are expecting luxury.
It saying that, it was still worth the money we paid.

We did a 3-days tour from Fes to Marrakesh via Merzouga and it was really unforgettable. Our driver Mohammed was super nice, friendly and professional - for sure he was the one who made this trip special. He easily navigated long rides, stopped for many great photo, shared lots of historical facts as well as stories about Moroccan life. The brightest memories we made in the desert: camel ride and spending a night in Berber camp were magical. Ourzazate and its Kasbah (where Game of Thrones episode was filmed) is totally worth visited. The Atlas Mountains were fascinating. The itinerary of the tour is very well scheduled. Highly recommended!

Just came back from this trip and already feeling nostalgic. It was fantastic, totally worth the money. Mohammed was a great driver — attentive to all our needs, very friendly, and always willing to share cultural insight, which added a lot to the trip. I also felt very lucky with the group I ended up with: everyone was friendly, funny, and intelligent, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. A truly memorable trip from start to finish.

We had an amazing 3-day tour from Fez to Marrakech through the Merzouga desert. Everything was very well organized, which made the whole experience smooth and enjoyable.
The stay in the desert was especially memorable—comfortable private tents with a private bathroom, and both dinner and breakfast were delicious. The hotel on the second night was also very good and provided a nice place to relax after the journey.
All the drivers, as well as the staff at the desert camp and the hotel, were extremely friendly and helpful. They really contributed to making this experience so enjoyable. Highly recommended!

The driver that took us for the 3 days was very nice and helpful! He still took us to touristy places for lunch that were quite bad without much other option (and not included), but apparently all the other desert trip companies do the same... The whole trip did feel very long in the van, and the AC was not working all the time, but we still saw some beautiful sights.
About the night in the desert, we had a terrible experience. When they say "dinner included" but "drinks not included", they also mean water. This part was not clear to us and other guests, because everywhere else on the planet drinks not included mean not soft drinks or cocktails. This was not made clear to us until we sat at the dinner table and were thirsty. Only after we contacted the trip manager did they offer us some bottles for the night. The food was very late, after two hours without anything else than bread and bland soup we left the dinner tent (food was supposed to arrive at 20h30, at 22h30 we left for our food in the tent as we were quite hungry).
While waiting for the meal that was late, the camp manager came to ask how everything was. After we told him that we were not happy about the food delay, he started immediately being very rude to us, and wouldn't accept any kind of critic. He never apologised for the late dinner. I'm quite sure he made it so our food was even more late (all other tables were served before us), and was passively aggressive the whole evening. We didn't feel welcome because of this. The tent experience was also very disappointing, the beds were hard and the "bathroom" was dirty and small. It wasn't what we were expecting at all, and didn't spend a good night.
Except for the camel ride, the whole tent experience felt disorganised, like they were doing it for the first time. They were not sure which tent to give us, we didn't have any information about the time of dinner and breakfast or when we leave the camp.
The actual staff of the camp were nice, they came to apologise to us after the dinner. It felt like they were also uncomfortable with their boss behavior.
So in summary the nature and sights part of the trip was nice, but the whole organisation felt chaotic, and the camp manager was a rude and dishonest person.
Response from Host, Apr 2026
Thank you for your detailed feedback. We are glad you appreciated the driver and the beautiful landscapes. We sincerely regret your experience at the camp and any discomfort caused. Please note that mineral water is not included in the package, as clearly mentioned, and bottled water is provided upon request at an extra cost due to safety standards. We apologize for the delay in dinner service and any misunderstanding that occurred. It is important to note that you were the only guests in the group who expressed dissatisfaction; however, we truly value your comments and will use them to improve our service and organization.

This was an amazing 3 day lots of time in the car but Mohamed our driver and guid made this 3 days a great experience

Yunus was absolutely exceptional throughout our three-day journey from Fez to Marrakech. From the moment the trip began, he was professional, punctual and incredibly courteous, which made the entire experience smooth and enjoyable.
What truly stood out was how safe and comfortable he made us feel on the road. Due to the time change and road closures, we were concerned it would be dark by the time we arrived in Merzouga. Yunus got us there safely and with ample time to get settled before enjoying a marvelous sunset.
Would recommend this trip to anyone traveling from Fez to Marrakech. Plus, if you’re lucky you’ll get to enjoy the experience with a 10/10 driver named Yunus!

We took the 3 day desert tour with Mohammed and had a blast! It was a really good way to see all different types of terrains Morocco has in the shortest time possible.
The drive is definitely really long (Fes -> Merzouga for the night in the deserts, then Merzouga -> Ouarzazate for the Atlas Mountains, then Ouarzazate -> Merrakesh for drop off with stops along the way), but Mohammed made the experience fly by. Not only is he an incredible driver that made us feel super safe even as we were climbing/descending the mountains, but he is also super knowledgeable about every question we have about Morocco. He told us stories about his life, and always brought us to the best places to experience the local artisan and products. With him, I really felt like I understood more about Moroccan culture and the people who live here.
Everywhere we went was a really cool experience, from seeing the monkeys in the cedar forest, riding the camels in the desert and seeing the stars, to seeing the Atlas Mountain & the Kasbahs. Mohammed also brought us to really delicious lunches that were adorable and felt authentic. If you’re looking for a good trip from Fes to Merrakesh, I really cannot recommend Desert Smiles more!

What a wonderful experience seeing the spectacular country of Morocco, from the stunning Sahara Desert to the rocky plains and amazing snow covered mountains. The visit to Ait Ben Haddou was a highlight, with a local guide organised by our driver Ismail, who has navigated the roads perfectly for us!
Evgeniia_A, Jan 2026
In general it was good experience. Mohamed was a driver and guide on the way to Merzouga, explained many thing about culture. Staying in the desert and camel ride also were good. But i would say the dinner was meager, very light.. on the way to Marrakech Hamid drove carefully in the snowfall, and we stopped at several beautiful places along the way.

I am writing to formally report several serious issues we experienced during a desert tour booked through Viator. I do not usually submit complaints, but the nature of what occurred obliges me to do so: Unsafe and aggressive behavior
Response from Host, Jan 2026
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are very sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations and that you felt uncomfortable during the tour. Guest safety and respectful behavior are extremely important to us, and we take any concerns of this nature very seriously.
We work with licensed, experienced drivers and guides, and the situation you describe does not reflect our usual standards. I made a mistake with my tour date. Driver rang me the day before and asked for my hotel. I said there’s a mistake I’m in Australia. The date is wrong should be next month. He said oh I see no problem, our mistake. Then I find out they did not change date, took all the money $720 AUD
Wont refund or offer any compensation and driver lying saying I told him the date was correct. I’m in Australia why would I say the date was correct I’m not an idiot!
Response from Host, Nov 2025
Dear guest,
Thank you for sharing your feedback, and we are truly sorry for the inconvenience you experienced.
We would like to clarify that our team contacted you the day before the tour specifically to confirm your pickup location in Fes. During that call, you confirmed that the booking details were correct, which is why the driver proceeded as scheduled. If there had been any indication that the travel date was incorrect or that you were still in Australia, we would have immediately asked you to modify the booking through Viator and we would never have sent a driver.
Please note that, as per Viator’s policy, date changes or refunds must be requested directly through the platform before the tour date. Since no modification was submitted on time, and our driver was dispatched for your confirmed booking, the full cost was charged according to the cancellation policy.
We fully understand your frustration, but we acted based on the information provided to us at the time. We remain committed to providing clear communication and quality service to all our guests, and we are always available to assist with future bookings to avoid any similar issue.
Thank you for your understanding.

This was a fantastic tour. We loved it all. The only exception was the driver on days 2 & 3. He was not interactive at all. But we wouldn’t discount the tour as a whole just because of him.

Very nice and professional staff! The accommodations were very nice and transport service vey comfortable

Definitely the highlight of our Morrocco trip. The tent was much better than I expected.
Our driver Said was very great.

Excellent trip, well organised. It’s well worth your time and money! There is a lot of mileage to cover but there were plenty of stops of coffee/toilet and food etc.

Excellent three day tour. We had a wonderful time on this trip with Aimed our driver and guide. He was welcoming, knowledgeable, friendly and very kind. He was also genuinely happy to show us the beauty of Morocco’s landscapes and culture. Strongly recommended.

It was such a great trip. The landscape scienery was amazing on the way and the night in the desert camp was beautiful. Thanks to out driver Mohammed I learned so much about the morrocan culture and nature. Through this trip I was able to get to know a different side of morroco.

The tour is mainly spent on a van. For each day of travel we had between 7-9h of travel in the van what can be very tiring. The time spent in the desert is amazing and it was a great experience. Our driver Amed was really nice, spoke English very well and was always available to answer our questions.

Our small group loved every minute of our tour. The organizer checked in often and our two drivers, Mohammed in particular, were well-informed and patient. We made just the right number of stops and appreciated the guidance on purchases along the route. We would highly recommend this tour!

My partner and I loved the tour. The Merzouga desert was amazing and we really enjoyed the drive through the Atlas Mountains. Communication around the itinerary could have been slightly better at times, and we would have appreciated a little more detail on the sites and towns we visited. But that didn’t take away from the great time we had and the very friendly drivers.

This 3-day tour is mostly about sitting in a van on the way from Fes to Marrakech via Merzouga and, aside from the mandatory bathroom/lunch stops, doesn't have too many programmed stops on the way. That said, the first night spent at Merzouga sand dunes easily makes up for the long and tedious drive. The desert camp we stayed at was Sandfish Desert Luxury Camp and I really liked everything about it -- the magical sunset and sunrise, luxury tents and tasty meals.
One thing to be aware of, though, is that there are many fellow travelers sharing the ride from A to B who've booked a similar tour with a different tour company, and the dropoffs and pickups may be different for you than other travelers. There's no advance communication about the specific hotel/camp names included in this trip, but our drivers Omar (Fes to Merzouga) and Hicham (Merzouga to Marrakech) did a good job of sorting out the logistics for everybody.

Overall very nice experience. The distances are long, therefore a lot of driving. But worth it! The included activities are good and the landscape you see while driving is beautiful. Our driver Mohammed was very nice and helpful. He explained us a lot about the country and the culture. The desert camp and the tents are very comfortable. The hotel of the second night was nice, too. Included food is good (vegetarian options could be better, though). Our driver chose nice restaurants for lunch (12€ per meal). Waiting times for pick-ups (first day and second day after desert camp) were quite long. Could be organized better. But that’s not very important and didn’t bother us too much. Thanks for the great experience!

Great 3 day trip which covers all the highlights of the moroccan desert. The Erg Chebbi desert is a once in a lifetime experience. Everything went well from the pick up till the end of the tour without any problems. The tour guide Ibrahim gave interesting explanation at every stop and always had a helping hand. Our driver Mahfoud drove us safely from stop to stop.

The 3 days tour experience gave the opportunity to see many different attraction accompanied by local people.
We only felt bit disappointed since we didn't completely respect the itinerary. For example we skipped Midelt and the trekking of the second day. Moreover some of the stop were fast only to take some pictures or in touristic bars.
The dune experience give the opportunity to bite a bit of the real desert (completely different by the one close to Marrakech) even if they brought us to small dunes closer to the camp. But if you ask them to bring you to the bigger ones they gently bring you there. They were super nice.
Special mention to Said, the third day driver, who respect completely what the itinerary said.
Finally, I can say that the tour is a good compromise to visit remote sides of Marocco otherwise impossible to reach without a own car and the price resulted fair.

Our three-day tour from Fes to Marrakesh was a logistical nightmare. We never knew what time we were to be picked up from day to day or where we'd be staying until we got there, and they gave us the wrong itinerary on the 3rd day. Fortunately, the driver Zaki, who is at the absolute bottom of the power list, was able to make it work for us.
The tent camp and sunset camel ride were magical though. Don’t miss that! We also loved the itinerary but prepare for 5-7 hours in the van for 3 days
