Itinerary
Make your own way to the central meeting location in the morning. Traveling aboard an air-conditioned coach, head west into the Scottish countryside to discover the dramatic scenery that served as the backdrop to the "Outlander" TV series.
Stop to visit Midhope Castle, the filming location for Lallybroch, Jamie Fraser's home. Next, head to Doune Castle, which doubles up as Castle Leoch on-screen. Then, continue to the county of Fife to see the village of Culross, better known as "Cranesmuir," the village where Claire was accused of witchcraft.
After lunch (own expense), spend time exploring Falkland, where the show’s Inverness scenes were shot, before continuing to other key Outlander sites, including Blackness Castle, or Fort William.
After an Outlander-inspired day, return to Edinburgh, where your tour ends back on the Royal Mile.

It's not a guided tour but our driver Cliff gave us such a lot of information as we travelled to the various places
Susan_M, Apr 2026
We had a great day! Ryan P was so much fun. He was knowledgeable and entertaining. I was not an Outlander fan and went on the tour with friends that watch Outlander. I enjoyed the history about the locations.
Lisa_L, Apr 2026
We as a family really enjoyed this tour. For those who don’t know the Outlander story it’s still a great tour. Because you get to see historical Scottish landmarks and Castle ruins, and if you are an Outlander fan it’s fun to see some of the areas used in filming. Our guide Charlie was fun. She was knowledgeable and told great stories. The only thing I would suggest is perhaps a little more time for the lunch break. The local eateries in Culross can’t really handle the volume of people coming from the tours and it’s really hard to eat in the time provided.

We had a fantastic day! All of the locations were amazing, and our tour guide, Torva, was exceptional. He had a great deal of knowledge and was a great storyteller, and we loved the Outlander music during the ride!
Response from Host, Apr 2026
Hello, thank you for your 5 star review for the Outlander tour. We are so glad you had a fun experience and that you found Torva to be exceptional, he really is the Outlander expert and the music played along the way adds to the experience. So happy that you enjoyed your day. Kind regards, Louise

Cliff was a wonderful guide and driver who was very up to date on Outlander trivia and told us tons of fun facts about the filming and the locations. As one location was being used currently for filming he took us to a very cool secret location not on the list that features heavily in Blood of my Blood which the production had just stopped using a week ago!
Recommend wearing hiking boots and dressing appropriately for weather. You will spend thirty minutes to an hour at each location and a good bit of that is outside. Bus/shuttle had USB port chargers and space overhead for a backpack. Try not to sit in the far back if you're prone to motion sickness!

If you're an Outlander fan, this is an absolute MUST DO on your Scotland itinerary. We saw so many incredible places that were featured in key moments of the show. Our guide, Alistair, was an Outlander fan with lots of fun knowledge and played an excellent playlist as we were driving around. He kept us entertained and on schedule.

Perfect for the Outlander fan and Scottish history buff. Loved the inside story our tour guide Connor offered.
Catherine_C, Sep 2025
We had a great day seeing key Outlander filming sites on our day trip from Edinburgh. Our guide Wendy was informative and funny. Paying the castle admission fees in advance may entry so easy.
Heather_A, Sep 2025
This was an incredible tour. Seeing these locations in person was mind blowing. Our driver Connor was friendly and chock full of historical knowledge, really added to the fun of the day . Only one suggestion more than 20 minute stop in Falkland in necessary, we felt quite rushed. We would highly recommend this tour company, professional and knowledgeable and every team member wished me a Happy Birthday !!
HEATHER_A, Sep 2025
Laurie Anderson was a great tour guide. She was knowledgeable, entertaining and a joy to be with. I would recommend this tour to any Outlander fan.

Lord Torva (apparently he is indeed a Lord) was an amazing guide, catering to the Outlander fans and history buffs. Excellent stories and knowledge of the books/show. Highly recommend!
Dinah_S, Aug 2025
Our tour driver and guide was pleasant, knowledgeable, friendly, polite and patient. Time spent on each destination was sufficient. No issues with stops for restrooms and snacks. Ride was comfortable and I felt safe during the tour. Did not only learn about Outlander filming locations but also about history. Enjoyed the Outlander filming locations visited esp. the Midhope Castle. The pick-up/drop-off point was near all the souvenir shops and restaurants, so we checked them out after the tour. Would definitely recommend this tour.

Dave is an EXCEPTIONAL Tour guide. We have been on many vacations, he us hands down the best!!
He even took us to the abbey where William the Bruce is buried. It was a fantastic addition to an already fabulous tour!!
Amanda_C, Jul 2025
We had a great day with Cara!! She knew sooo much history about Scotland as well as Outlander facts. All of her Scotland history ties in with Outlander! It was great!!
Deborah_W, Jul 2025
It was well organized and clearly described on the website. We had plenty of time to see each location. It does involve some uneven stone stairs if you want to go inside the castles. Got to see the most important locations from the first several episodes. It was fascinating and a lot of fun. It is a long day with a lot of bus riding but a very comfortable bus and absolutely worth it. You will want to get the ticket that allows you to go inside the castles.
Bev_K, Jun 2025
If you are an outlander fan, you will absolutely love this trip! Hold onto your hat because it’s super windy everywhere.
Andrea_W, Jun 2025
Sophie was a terrific driver and even made sure we avoided a “Dukes of Hazard” experience. ;-) She was very informative about what we were going to see, when and for how long, and most importantly, how it was significant to Outlander series and to Scottish history. I thoroughly enjoyed being in a smaller group (16) versus a big bus. It enabled us to get up close parking and not having to have longer stops just because of sheer size of group.
Diane_L, Jun 2025
We really enjoyed the tour and it was just what we wanted it to be. Laura was our guide and she made the experience even better.
Kim_C, Jun 2025
This tour was great. Our travel guide, Connor, was awesome. We loved that we got to see inside the castles as they (mostly) originally were. My only complaint was the we didn’t have 1 1/2 hrs in Culross, which is where we were supposed to have lunch and sight see. All we had time for was lunch which is extremely disappointing because that what happened there was a pretty significant part of the tour.
AnneMarie_F, Jun 2025
There is no better way to link a memory with a site in a glorious series like Outlander. Your learning& appreciation for the time period, struggles, culture, & people increases exponentially!
We loved Ry & his kind & thoughtful guidance.
Do it!
Alyssa_A, Jun 2025
We had a great time exploring all the film locations for outlander! One of the castles audio tour even had the voice of Jamie narrating it! So cool.
