⚠️ Avoid this tour company – my experience with Discover Scotland Tours

I booked the Loch Ness, Inverness & the Highlands 2 Day Tour from Edinburgh operated by Discover Scotland Tours through Viator. When I made my booking, my confirmation and the information provided to me clearly stated that accommodation was included. I also have screenshots and emails confirming this. However, during the tour I was informed that accommodation was not included, leaving me with no choice but to find a hotel at the last minute, costing me over £200 out of pocket. What concerns me most is that after I raised the issue, I noticed the tour listing had been changed and no longer showed accommodation as included. Since I retained my original booking confirmation, screenshots, and emails, this has made the situation even more concerning from a customer perspective. I have asked Viator to investigate and submitted all supporting evidence, including my booking confirmation, screenshots, correspondence, and hotel receipt. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this tour or this operator. If you’re considering booking with Discover Scotland Tours, I strongly recommend taking screenshots of every detail before you pay and carefully verifying exactly what is included. I hope my experience helps other travelers avoid the inconvenience, unexpected expense, and disappointment that I faced.

The information you have provided in your review does not accurately convey either your communication with us or the information provided to you prior to your reservation. Accommodation costs are not included in any of our tours. Viator is a 3rd party Online Travel Agent that sells our tours. On their webpage it clearly states on 3 separate occasions within the listing that accommodation costs are not included. One of these occasions is within the section stating what is included and excluded. It states that passengers must book their own accommodation within Inverness City Centre and that Discover Scotland Tours would be in contact you to confirm where you had booked. We also have evidence of this and have shared this with Viator when they reached out regarding your complaint. We contacted you prior to travel to ask where you had booked and received confirmation of your hotel reservation the day before you travelled. We most certainly did not inform you of this on the day as we would not permit passengers on board without an accommodation confirmation to ensure they have somewhere to stay. You informed us that Viator provided incorrect information regarding accommodation but this information did not come from Discover Scotland Tours and is a matter between yourself and Viator. The review you have left does not reflect our company or the services offered as our other reviews reflect.

It is a great pleasure to be guided and led by a friendly, attentive and competent guide. The different stops are varied and give us a good idea of the history and lifestyle of the inhabitants of the highlands. And the landscapes are grand and quite unique.
