Itinerary
Get double the fun with this shore excursion by booking this combo tour. The customers should meet their tour guide as follows: at Pile Square, outside the Old Town city walls, and after that they will walk to the cable car station (with the guide). Ascend to the top of Mt Srđ, a 1,352-foot (412-meter) mound that affords for incredible views of the walled Old Town and the crystal blue Adriatic Sea. On a clear day, you can see as far as 37 miles (67 miles) out into the Adriatic.
Take an hour or so to drink in the view and then head back down to the Old Town to begin the second phase of the tour. With your local guide by your side, you'll hit all the best sights in the city, starting with Onofrio’s Fountain, a large circular structure with faucets that was the terminus for the 7.5-mile (12-km) aqueduct that flowed drinking water into Dubrovnik. Then walk over to the nearby Franciscan Monastery that houses a recently restored Pieta sculpture and one of the oldest still-functioning pharmacies in Europe.
After learning about the history of the monastery, slowly make your way down the Stradun, a wide — by Old Town standards — limestone-clad pedestrian street. As you pass the narrower intersecting lanes look up at how high each street climbs before being met by the 12th-century walls.
When you reach Sponza Palace, on the other end of the Stradun, stop and listen to your guide regale you with historical facts and anecdotes about the pretty Renaissance-era palace, which houses today the vast state archives.
Other sites you’ll see include the Rector’s Palace, Orlando’s Column, the city cathedral and the Church of St Blaise, a sanctuary dedicated to Dubrovnik’s beloved patron saint.
Worry-free Shore Excursion: We will ensure your excursion ends with ample time for you to return to Dubrovnik port for your ship’s departure. In the extremely unlikely event your ship has departed, we will arrange for transportation to the next port-of-call. If your ship is delayed and you are unable to attend this activity, your money will be refunded. See our terms and conditions for full details.

Our tour guide in Dubrovnik was quite knowledgeable and gave us a magnificent tour of a magical city. We appreciate her knowledge of all the historical sites. Thank you so much for giving us a tour that will always be memorable in our hearts.

I would not recommend this tour. The tour guide came shortly before the meeting time so it took a few minutes to check everyone in and get us all headphones and radios. Then the tour guide waited for someone who was late and there was tension. We started our walk almost 25 minutes late with a stressed guide. We walked to the cable car and waited again while the tour guide purchased tickets, something that should have been done ahead of time for efficiency. By the time we walked back to Old Town, it was very hot. We should have done the walk first and cable car second. Beautiful city and great idea, but the logistics were inefficient. We ended up splitting off, buying 40 euro tickets to walk the walls of Okd Town, and had a blast on our own.

Dear guest,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that the experience didn’t meet your expectations, and we appreciate you highlighting areas where we can improve.
We understand that the tour got off to a delayed start, and we apologize for the inconvenience caused. While we do our best to begin on time, occasional delays can happen, especially when accommodating late-arriving guests. That said, we agree that a smoother start would have made for a better experience for everyone.
Regarding the cable car tickets, these are purchased on the spot due to local policies that prevent advance group bookings, but we understand how this may have felt inefficient in the moment — especially in the heat.
We also appreciate your suggestion about reversing the itinerary order. Our route is usually planned with crowd levels and visibility in mind, but we'll definitely take your feedback into account when reviewing our logistics.
We're glad to hear you enjoyed exploring the Old Town walls on your own — it’s truly a highlight of Dubrovnik! Thank you again for your feedback, and we hope you'll give us another chance in the future.
Warm regards,

Great overview of the old town of Dubrovnik. Our guy had a lot of knowledge about the Game of Thrones. The cable car experience is really cool and worth it.

Wow! The local knowledge given to us by Tea was phenomenal! Highly recommend the walking tour with any one of Elite walking tour family members. We especially loved the personal stories and touches Tea gave us while walking through old town. The downside to this trip was the timing of the cable car after the walking tour. We would have loved for Tea to talk to us about the places etc while going up the cable car, but with the shear 2hr plus wait to get up the cable car we decided (with Teas recommendation) to take the ticket and come back later without her. We did this, however felt we lost the personal touch of the cable car trip. The city is stunning with so much heritage. We highly recommend this trip, Elite walking tours couldn’t have planned the quantity of people in the city and them all wanting to go up the cable car at the same time, it was just bad timing for us. Thanks Tea for a fantastic walking tour.

Nice cable car trip
Could not go for walking trip as it was raining heavily
We were kept well informed and offered refund for walking tour.

Perfect amount of time- great informative tour! Our tour guide Elvis was a native and wonderful! Do it!

The walking tour was great, ending with the cable car ride. After the tour we had lunch at the top adjacent to the cable car. It was a lot of stairs and difficult walking. I am 80 so it was intimidating for me, but the teens with us enjoyed it all.
Natelie_N, Apr 2024
I'm forever grateful for the incredible holiday experience Elvis provided. His knowledge, enthusiasm, and attention to detail made each destination come alive. Thank you for going above and beyond to ensure a flawless trip. He is an exceptional guide, and I'll highly recommend him to others.
Warm regards

The cable car and walk through old city following. Perfect order. Time for lunch and wall walk after.

Our excellent guide expertly dealt with crowds, heat and mobility challenges to give us a fascinating and memorable overview of Dubrovnik and its rich history. Taking the cable car up to experience the bresthtaking views over a cool drink was a highlight.

This is a nice tour for anyone looking to learn about Dubrovnik and see in a fairly short time. The guide was good and spoke clearly. This is a lovely city and might come back to better enjoy this beautiful spot.

Katarina was an amazing tour guide. Unfortunately our flight was delayed and when I contacted the booking office they said she would wait for us; which we were extremely grateful. She gave us the history of the Old City and also shared her personal experience living through the the Homeland war. She took amazing photos for us and gave us great restaurant recommendations . We have not had a bad meal yet. We highly recommend this tour!
Response from Host, Aug 2022

We had a little mishap at the start of our experience as we went directly to the cable car rather than meeting our guide at the gates so she could tell us about Dubrovnik. Once that was sorted we boarded the cable car and ascended to the top of the mountain (about 5 - 6 mins) and were greeted by beautiful views Dubrovnik. Our guide pointed out that over the mountain range is Bosnia (it's really so close). We also did a quick little hike to see different vantage points of Dubrovnik and the ports, and along the way were greeted by some cows. We ended the trip with a quick drink at Panorama Restaurant -- which is wonderful. If you have time in Dubrovnik this is definitely worth the trip.

This was well organized. We had a very informative guide.
The cable car is well worth doing as there are spectacular views and a lovely restaurant.

We had a great tour of Dubrovnik. Our tour guide was great and really informative. Unfortunately it was a little busy getting up the cable cars as it was a Saturday and there were lots of tourists but all in all it was a great tour and was as great way to see Dubrovnik
Thanks!

What a perfect 3 hour tour. Our local guide was fantastic (I’m so sorry I’ve forgotten her name). Wonderful history and walking tour of Old Town Dubrovnik, which exceeded our expectations. Due to weather the cable car wasn’t working however our guide did not miss a beat and gave us an incredible view with local perspective. Thank you so much.
Joseph_G, Apr 2019
This is a easy walking tour of old town and a cable car ride to the top of the mountain overlooking old town Dubrovnik and you can see a long ways into other countries. The view is fantastic and the guild knew the city and the history so it was great to get the exposure. After the tour you have time to explore on your own
David_B, Aug 2018
The first part of the tour viewing Dubrovnik from the top of the hill using the cable car was great. It afforded us any opportunity to view the city from above with a great panorama. The rest of the walking tour was not so great. It was too hot and it was difficult to understand the tour guide. We left the tour early with others leaving too. The city was also too crowded for this type of tour.
JoAnn C, Jul 2018
Dubrovnik was very picturesque and we loved how this tour highlighted its features. Our guide was very knowledgeable and did her best to maneuver us through the crowds and find us shade so she could talk about what we were seeing. Initially she did not pace the tour for the slowest members as Dubrovnik is hilly, sidewalks are not very wide and it was extremely hot so some people petered out quickly. The wall is not for the faint of heart but worth it. I recommend it over what was being offered through the cruise ship for more money.
pbshaw13, Oct 2017
Tour guide was very funny and shared all the history of her city with us. She showed us how to take the bus back to our cruise ship for much less then the cab fare.
cmguerrieri, Oct 2017
Tour starting time needs to be coordinated better with shore time when you tie it to a sure excursion. We laned at 7:00 am, but tour didn't start nail 9:00 am. We had to cut short the city part of tour to return to our ship in time. Guide was delightful, but again, we missed part of the city tour. Views from the top of the cable car were fabulous of the walled city.
Rosanne C, Oct 2017
Loved our guide. She was great. Cable car is a must. Great view. City walking tour was good, but would have liked more. Would recommend though.
Jeff W, Oct 2017
Great place to see with a guide. The history is amazing. Our guide was so knowledgeable and spoke perfect English. highly recommend
Zita d, Oct 2017
Unfortunately it rained during our tour, but the tour guide I think her name was Maria was super friendly and informative and didn't let a small thing like rain keep us from enjoying the sights of the city. Loved It!
Garber1533, Aug 2017
Dubrovnik was a like a step back in time, great guide, good insight, and very clean. Took the cable car up and the views where spectacular. Seen where Game of Thrones was being filmed, and walked the fort walls with great camera shots everywhere. Highly recommend.
Roger_D, May 2017
tour guide was not very good. cable car was closed due to weatherwind the day we were there. viator did refund the cost of the cable car ride. we hired a local cab driver to take us to the top which is well worth the trip. For this location you're best bet would be to hire a local cabbie to take you around and see all the sites. you can pretty much tour the unesco site on you're own and walking the wall is an extra fee any way. when we arrive our cabbie taking us to the tour meet point would have given the four of us a tour of the island for 50 euros. that's a better deal than we got.
