Meet your walking tour guide and other “Game of Thrones” fans at the Large Onofrio Fountain near the western entrance to Dubrovnik’s Old Town. You won’t even have to look far for your first ‘Game of Thrones’ filming location; the nearby Pile Gate is your first stop.
Follow your guide outside the City Walls to the twin locations of the Kolorina beach and Dubrovnik West Harbour, where they’ll explain the many scenes that were filmed here. Climb up to Fort Lovrijenac, the mighty fortification used to represent the Red Keep, to learn how it was used for different scenes, including the infamous Purple Wedding.
Finish with a photo opportunity on the famous staircase outside the Church of St. Ignatius of Loyola where Cersei did her “Walk of Shame”.

Scenes in the movie may have been altered even though film was filmed in that location.

This was by far the worst tour experience on our trip to Croatia.
We booked this Games of Thrones walking tour through Viator before our trip and PAID EXTRA for the optional additional hour on Lokrum Island. We reasonably assumed that extra fee was for Lokrum Island portion, Viator did not make it clear that we needed to purchase an additional ticket/ferry to what we already paid.
The walking tour itself was disappointing, we could have googled or chatted the information we learned, it was hot and just felt it was not worth it.
Then when it was time to go to Lokrum Island the ferry staff would not let us board with the tickets we purchased. We were completely confused since we paid the extra for the Lokrum Island extension.
When we asked the tour guide for help he became extremely rude and said” I told everyone four different times to get tickets”. We assumed the tickets we had were for the additional part of the tour?! Even worse, the tour guide was discussing this over his microphone so the whole tour group could hear him scolding us. It was embarrassing, disrespectful and unnecessary. We weren't refusing to purchase tickets. We believed we already had them. If Viator or the tour guide would have clearly explained that we need another ticket, we would have bought it.
After being spoken to that way in front of everyone we decided to leave and not to continue the tour. We later contacted Viator and explained they refused to refund the additional fee. Still confused why we paid extra thinking it was for optional Lokrum island as it stated?! Not true!
Overall extremely disappointing and would not recommend this tour. I have never experienced something like this before and we have traveled many times. It left us feeling Horrible.

This private tour was one of the best experiences i have had using Viator during my last 9 years of travel. Private is best for the GOT fan.
our guide Eddie was awesome at setting up location with actual GOT filming. I would recommend this over group tour. After we went on to Lokrum island on our own to complete the awesome experience.

Great tour! Our tour guide was very knowledgeable about the filming of the show and had great behind the scenes photos to share with us. She also gave us good advice on when to walk the city walls.
If you choose the Lokrum visit, please note that there are places to swim so pack your swim suit! We didn’t know about this option.

The experience had so many great views of Dubrovnik and our guide Eddie was insanely knowledgeable!! He combined interesting info and humor and made the tour fly by. Definitely include Lorkum island for a swim! Worth it!

This was the best tour we’ve had in a very long time! Our guide, Jelena, was a true Game of Thrones aficionado, and her passion and enthusiasm made the experience truly unforgettable. She was full of fascinating stories and brought the history of Croatia to life with an incredible combination of knowledge, zest, and humor.
The tour also included a boat trip to the island of Lokrum, which we highly recommend as well. Dubrovnik is one of the most beautiful places on Earth, and this tour gave us the perfect opportunity to experience its history, beauty, and magic in a way we never could have on our own.

Our tour guide was excellent and clearly a huge fan of the show. He had been an extra and shared lots of interesting behind the scenes info. I hadnt seen GOT but this tour inspired me to start watching on my flight home!
Definitely a lot of steps and walking. Our tour also ran very late... We paid for the extra hour and trip to the island, but unfortunately had to leave the island (and last bit of the tour) early in order to make our cruise all aboard. So I don't recommend doing that add on and paying for entry to the island unless you have plenty of time (plan for at least 4. 5+ hours to make the extra cost worth it). We still enjoyed the tour and appreciated that the guide didn't rush through anything.

We had such a great time on the Game of Thrones tour! It was super cool to see the iconic filming locations in person and recognize so many of the places from the show. Our guide, Luka, was fantastic — very knowledgeable, engaging, and made the experience even more enjoyable.
And make sure to include Lokrum Island at the end. You’ll buy your ferry ticket in Dubrovnik. It’s such a peaceful escape, with even more cool Game of Thrones filming spots to discover. You can swim, grab a bite to eat, or simply relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Definitely worth adding to your visit!

Really good. We didn’t include Lokrum Island as we wanted to take our time there. We went the day after by ourselves and spent a good few hours, it’s a beautiful Island. We bought ferry tickets from the main ticket office in the harbour as it has concessions for teens and students . The tour was interesting and the Red Keep is a must for the views alone. Our guide was very informative. We went on the 11am tour as it wasn’t any cooler than 9am in August and still fairly quiet. Went as a family of four with 17 and 22 year old sons, one who hadn’t watched the series but still enjoyed the tour.

Absolutely wonderful experience! As huge GoT fans, we were in awe seeing so many iconic filming locations around Old Town. Andrea was an incredible guide - super friendly and also shared lots of Dubrovnik history, so we learned about both GoT and the city itself. Highly recommend this tour to any GoT fan!
Definitely visit Lokrum Island too. We walked up to Fort Royal (warning: very steep and long way, so make sure to have some water on you and take regular breaks) and had the most stunning view over Old Town. A long-time dream come true for us!

The Game of Thrones tour with Drazen was spectacular! I thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience. We visited many of the locations where memorable scenes from the show were filmed, and Drazen brought each one to life.
What made the tour especially memorable was Drazen’s personal connection to the show—he actually worked as an extra on set! In addition to sharing his firsthand experiences, he was incredibly knowledgeable about the filming locations and scenes. He also carried a book with photos from the show, which he used throughout the tour to help us recreate and visualize the scenes in the exact locations where they were filmed. It was such a great touch!
Unfortunately, our cruise ship departed the city earlier than expected that day, so we were unable to experience Part II of the tour, which included a visit to the island. I was genuinely disappointed to miss it because I enjoyed the first part so much.
Drazen is knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and engaging, and there was never a dull moment. One helpful tip: the tour includes climbing approximately 135 steps to reach the top of the castle, so wear comfortable shoes and be prepared for the climb. If you visit during the summer, the heat can make the trek a little more challenging, but the experience is well worth it.
I was extremely pleased with the tour, and we capped off a wonderful day with a lovely lunch in the City Center. I highly recommend Drazen and this tour to any Game of Thrones fan visiting Dubrovnik!

Eddie was so good. Great GOT tour of the city.
A fun way to see more of the city and hear about the series.
You do have to pay extra for the fortress and would rather the cost be higher at the beginning so no surprises it says optional but you spend an hour there and an important part of the trip you won’t want to meet.

There are over 150 steps part of the tour. Be mindful if you have difficulty with stairs. I stayed back during that part and they picked me up afterwards.

Our guide was great! Fun and informative ! The only negative was that we had to pay an additional fee to enter the castle when that was a reason we were going on the tour.

Great experience. Loved the book of scenes from Game of Thrones so we could compare the real life place with the editing magic HBO did. The views are stunning. My guide was also excellent. He was enthusiastic and kept a reasonable pace throughout the tour. Fair warning: this tour is very sunny and hot.
