While living in Dublin all my life I have never been to 'visit' the cemetery in Glasnevin. This excellent tour was narrated by with passion by our guide (Bridget) and it was delivered in a very balanced way and respected the sides and opinions of those who died and are interred within the Cemetery. The museum is also a great spot to wander around, with some a wonderful photographic exhibition and great history on many of those who have been laid to rest in the cemetery.

On a bitterly cold day, with a -4 wind chill factor, the tour guide provided a scholarly, evocative and nuanced account of the cemetery’s history from O’Connell to the present. He recommended I climb the tower and I’m glad I did. A visit to The Gravediggers was a good shout, too.

Very interesting tour around this old cemetery.
Our tour guide was very informative and pleasant.
Purchased tickets to go up the tower for an extra 5 euro (count the steps as you go)
After the tour we went for a cappuccino in the lovely wee coffee shop at the cemetery and then went for a pint in the old gravediggers pub.
Overall I would highly recommend this tour and would actually like to go again to have a stroll around this old historic cemetery.

It was a bit too wet and chilly to be outside, but we braved it well. A surprise narration, great history learned through our guide, and unique burial sites seen. Great museum and some genealogists available to help you find links to ancestors. Very impressive grounds.

The tour started inside the museum with an introduction to the cemetery with its fascinating history. We toured some famous historic graves like Daniel O’Connell, Michael Collins, Charles Stuart Parnell. An actor read a speech made by Pádraigh Pearse it was brilliant, thank you.
