Excellent tour. Our tour guide was amazing and knew all about the various sites we visited. The tour was very small (just myself and my partner) and it was very nice to have the tour guide to ourselves. Would highly recommend it. Would give it 10 stars.
Response from Host, May 2026
🌟....What a brilliant review—10 stars says it all! ⭐️☘️Delighted you had such a personal experience with a small group, that’s exactly what we aim for. Having the guide all to yourselves really brings the stories and sites to life in a personal & special way.
We truly appreciate the recommendation of course and hope to welcome you back again for another adventure!

Took this tour w Marty who was an OUTSTANDING tour guide. He was so knowledgeable and had a background in history so he knew so much stuff /inside Info about every stop . His stories were so interesting—he made sure to take photos for everyone . The Book of Kells is a must see . And iI highly recommend this tour as a great way to start your Dublin visit!
Response from Host, May 2026
We’re delighted Marty helped make your introduction to Dublin such a memorable experience. His passion for history, storytelling and looking after our small groups always shines through. We’re glad the Book of Kells was a highlight for you also.
Thanks so much for the 5*recommendation and we hope you enjoyed every moment exploring Dublin with City Heritage Tours.. ☘️☘️☘️

Booking tours when you have a short stay is the best use of time and energy- Mic (Michael) was an excellent guide through Trinity /Book of Kells /Dublin Castle / and St Patrick’s Cathedral- As an historian Mic gave wonderful facts figures historical context with engaging wink of an eye and kept the group moving - A great way to “get your steps in” (easily 12K+) We had a small group of 7 so it felt like a private personal tour -
Highly recommend ! I’m 71 and my son&gf 31 and we thoroughly enjoyed it!!
Response from Host, May 2026
What a wonderful 5* top review, exactly the kind of experience we aim to create! ☘️ We’re delighted you enjoyed exploring Dublin with Michael and that his historian’s perspective, storytelling, humour and energy made the day both engaging and memorable. It’s fantastic to hear the small group atmosphere made the experience feel personal and relaxed while still covering so many iconic sites including Trinity College Dublin, Book of Kells, Dublin Castle, and St Patrick's Cathedral.
And yes — our tours certainly help guests “get their steps in” while discovering centuries of Dublin history along the way! We especially love hearing that the tour was enjoyed across the generations. Thank you again for the recommendation and for joining us! ☘️
Tad_S, May 2026
Mick/Mike/Michael was a fantastic and knowledgeable guide. He led our group around and elightened us with a lot of information. The only complaint was that it got a little long at the end. Our tour started at 10am and we had to leave just prior to the completion of our tour at 2pm because we were extremely hungry and there was no stop for lunch (which we knew, but the tour was scheduled to be done by 1:30). Overall, great experience!
Response from Host, May 2026
We’re delighted you enjoyed your time with Michael and that his passion for Dublin’s history and storytelling came through so strongly. ☘️
We also truly appreciate the feedback regarding the timing. Some days the conversations, questions, and extra historical insights and the craic can naturally extend the experience a little beyond, we completely understand how important timing and plans are after a long morning exploring the city. Thanks you again for joining us and the 5* top review, we’re very glad overall it was still a great afternoon out. We hope to welcome you back to Dublin again soon.
Nico_S, May 2026
Loved spending the afternoon with our guide Marty. He is so knowledgeable and passionate about Dublin history! We were the only party on the tour that day by coincidence and got to have Marty all to ourselves. Definitely recommend this for tourists who love history!
Response from Host, May 2026
What a pleasure it was to welcome you on tour. We’re delighted you enjoyed your afternoon with Marty and that the smaller group intimacy turned it into such a personal experience for you. Marty’s passion for Dublin’s rich and complex history always shines through. The tour pace allows you to explore the city experience at a relaxed pace. Thank you for the 5* recommendation —it means a great deal to us, especially from fellow lovers of history and heritage. We hope to see you again for another journey through Dublin’s past ☘️
Kim_L, May 2026
Our tour guide was so informative, smart, kind and willing to go the extra mile with historical information and he was a kick in the pants to hang out with, all for Michael, we looooved him!
Response from Host, May 2026
We absolutely looooved reading this! ☘️ Michael will be super thrilled with such wonderful kind words. His passion for history, storytelling and making the guest feel part of the whole experience is what makes touring with 'City Heritage' a must for Dublin.
We’re delighted you enjoyed not only the fascinating historical insights, but also the fun and laughter along the way — that perfect mix is exactly what we aim for. Thanks again for joining us and for giving Michael such a glowing shoutout! Grma
Eden_V, May 2026
So much history to take in in few hours. But one thing for sure, this is a very good start for a first time visitor to Dublin IE. I gave only a 4 because, there is so much walking. But Marty Fennel is an excellent tour guide. I am giving him a 5 star. If you have any legs issues, this isn’t for you. Maybe the Trinity College is very good enough! We enjoyed this walking tour. Dublin Castle is closed due to some preparations for the coming EUROPEAN Union event coming up! We just did the exterior as what the tour have mentioned.
Response from Host, May 2026
We’re delighted you enjoyed your first visit to Dublin and that 5* Marty made such a strong impression with his knowledge and guiding throughout the walking tour. We also appreciate your honest feedback about the pace and walking, our tours do cover a lot heritage & culture on the ground, so comfortable footwear is definitely recommended.
Indeed parts of Dublin Castle are becoming unavailable due to preparations for the upcoming Ireland's EU Presidency but we’re glad you still really enjoyed the experience overall and the exterior storytelling around the site. Hopefully we’ll welcome you back to explore even more of the city next time.
Andrea_S, May 2026
Marty was great! Full of interesting facts and knowledge AND sweet as pie. Thankyou for a wonderful tour!
Response from Host, May 2026
Indeed..thats Marty in full flight, knowledgeable, engaging and clearly enjoying every moment of it. Delighted you had such a warm and memorable experience with him. Appreciate the 5* and ofcourse you joining us.
Richard_H, May 2026
Amazing guide. He was knowledgeable and entertaining. He loved his work. And it showed throughout the entire tour.
Sites are a must in Dublin
Response from Host, May 2026
Delighted you picked up on that tour guide energy, it makes all the difference when a guide truly lives the history andexperience rather than just recites it. Dublin’s key sites deserve that kind of storytelling. It’s great to hear the experience landed so well with yur group. Hope the memories stay with you...thanks.☘️
Melissa_G, Apr 2026
Great tour and tour guide. He was very informative and we enjoyed the tour very well. Thanks for the tour
Response from Host, May 2026
Delighted you enjoyed the tour experience! Great to hear your guide made it really informative and engaging, thats why we are the top rated in Dublin. Thanks for joining us and for the kind words and 5* review...☘️
Tanya_L, Apr 2026
Noel was amazing! Very knowledgeable and interactive. You can take your time and no need to rush through. Would definitely recommend this tour.
Response from Host, May 2026
Really appreciate your 5* feedback! It’s fantastic to hear how much you enjoyed touring with Noel, his engaging style and depth of knowledge always makes for a relaxed, immersive and memorable experience. Delighted you felt able to take it at your own pace, which is something we are always aware of as prople move at different paces & mobility. Thanks a million for the superb recommendation!
Go raibh maith agat...☘️
Scott_G, Apr 2026
The guide was terrific! Be aware that private tours that are outside of Trinity College tours are not allowed and the security guards very aggressively follow you around to ensure your tour guide doesn’t stop to talk with you. Very uncomfortable for both the guide and the tourists who paid much for a guided tour.
Response from Host, May 2026
We’re really glad you enjoyed the experience and our guides superb contribution makes all the difference. You’re right to highlight this point about Trinity College Dublin. Our tours are officially allowed inside Trinity ofcourse (some are not) We always work within these regulations while still delivering a rich and engaging experience and we appreciate your observations. Your feedback is genuinely helpful, and we’ll continue refining how we manage this on the ground to keep things as seamless and enjoyable as possible. ..☘️
Joanne_C, Apr 2026
Our Guide did not show up at the meeting point we were given. We had no communication that the meeting point had changed. We finally contacted the tour company we walked over a km to meet our tour and never did connect with the guide. We explored the book of Kells experience on our own but did not see the other features if our tour. Unfortunately this is our last full day in Dublin so we cannot reschedule this experience. Disappointed to say the least. I have requested a refund but will see if it is given.
Response from Host, Apr 2026
Hi Joanne, we looked into this case to establish the facts. It seems Viator had not informed you of our proper exact location messaging. It wasnt made clear, we've now corrected this with them. The guide was there waiting ofcourse. Although you eventually caught up and got access to the Book of Kells etc. We are happy it worked out in the end. We are a constant 5*award winning guide team and always resolve all issues. Regards -Tour team
Ben_A, Apr 2026
Absolutely a gem of an experience! Mick (Michael Kenny) is brilliant, he knows seriously everything!! Highly recommend him specifically if you can get him! But the whole tour was fascinating, well worth the time. We got such deep history of Trinity College, Dublin Castle, and St. Patrick's cathedral. We can't recommend this tour enough!
Response from Host, Apr 2026
Thank for the fantastic 5*review! We’re delighted you had such a memorable experience.
Mick really is a standout guide, his teaching past and depth of knowledge and his passion for the story of Dublin always leave a lasting impression.
We put a huge emphasis on delivering a thoughtful and rich experience, that engages history and culture and the stories behind them
We’d be absolutely thrilled to welcome you back again on another tour soon ☘️
Steven_M, Apr 2026
If you want to know everything about Irish history and Dublin history, you should take this tour. Marty gave us all the important dates, names, dirty details and gossip. Thanks for a great tour.
Response from Host, Apr 2026
Thanks for your 5*review, its a great vote of confidence along with your kind words. Delighted you enjoyed the full sweep of Irish heritage and history. Marty will be thrilled to hear you appreciated his stories, their detail and ofcourse a bit of historical“gossip” along the way. 😊
Michelle_P, Apr 2026
We had a great day with our group and guide, Martin Fennell. He was full of information and made the tour so enjoyable!!
Response from Host, Apr 2026
Delighted you had a great day with Martin, he’s a great guide with a real gift for bringing Dublin’s history to life. We take great pride in delivering engaging, small-group experiences, so it’s great to hear that came across on your tour. We’d love to welcome you again on another tour soon. 😊
Kathy_K, Apr 2026
Good tour with a lot of information. The guide knows a ton about the places, history and stories. He could have read the crowd a little better, as the tour stretched on perhaps longer than desirable and we were starting to get very tired.
Response from Host, Apr 2026
Thank you for the thoughtful feedback , we really appreciate it. We’re delighted you enjoyed the depth of knowledge and storytelling. On the day, you were actually upgraded to one of our small, X4 person premier bespoke tours, which is designed to go beyond the standard experience with more detailed insights, extra stops, and a richer historical narrative.
That said, we completely take on board your point about pacing. With these enhanced tours, guides sometimes lean into the added detail and content but striking the right balance with the group’s energy is key, and your feedback helps us fine-tune for the future. We hope to welcome you back again for another experience, perhaps one at a slightly gentler pace next time.
Rebeca_C, Apr 2026
Michael was knowledgeable and personable. He went out of his way to ensure we understood and had questions. I highly recommend Michael.
Response from Host, Apr 2026
Ah brilliant, thank you so much! Michael really does care that people leave with a genuine understanding rather than just a list of facts, he tells a wonderful cultural and historical story, so hearing that came through means a lot to us.
Really appreciate the 5* recommendation. Hope the rest of your Dublin trip was as enjoyable.
Conley_B, Apr 2026
Marty was awesome! Incredibly knowledgeable and personable. It’s a great way to learn about Dublin from someone that truly loves and appreciates the city. I enjoyed all the extra knowledge we gleaned from our guide as we walked through downtown Dublin. I know we learned much more about everything with our guide vs a self guided audio tour.
Response from Host, Apr 2026
That means a lot, thank you! You've hit on exactly what makes our tours that little bit more special. Dublin has layers that no audio tour can ever really capture, those little details, hidden stories that only comes out in conversations with the guide.
Really glad you got so much out of it. Marty always gives the full picture and that's exactly what it's all about. Hope Dublin left a lasting impression.
Rylie_M, Apr 2026
Marty was a very sweet, humble and knowledgable guide. What his brain holds in history is miraculous, he brings you back to that time and interacts with you- gets to know you by first name which we love. You’re not just a number, he would check in on you and make you feel so welcome. A little mishap at the start as our original meeting point was changed, and it never updated on the Viator app, but we called the organizer and he was quick to help, apologized and Marty waited for us and was understanding. I guess when it was originally booked in 2025 it was at a certain meeting point and then all bookings from 2026 on was a different. Not the end of the world!! It all worked out :)
Response from Host, Apr 2026
Thank you so much for your feedback. We’re so delighted you really enjoyed your time with Marty, without doubt his passion for history and the personal connection he creates with guests really does hit home and make each tour very special.
We also appreciate your understanding regarding the meeting point mix-up. This was out of our hands as a technical glitch outside the company, now fixed permanently and quickly resolved immediately as you said. I’m glad we were able to assist quickly and that Marty could accommodate you so smoothly.
It’s great to hear it all came together in the end to make for a brilliant experience and thanks again for taking for joining us.
Jeffrey_C, Apr 2026
This is a great walking tour and Noel was a fantastic guide providing history and stories at and in between each stop.
Response from Host, Apr 2026
Thank you so much, we really appreciate you taking the time to leave that 5* review!
So glad the stories landed. That's the heart of it for our guests, our well curated tour experiences makes it memorable and ofcourse everything in between that brings Dublin culture and heritage to life.
Sara_R, Apr 2026
Martin was great. Museum was closed which we did not know until we got there. We made the best of it. Martin is great
Response from Host, Apr 2026
Thanks for making the best of the day with us—we really appreciate it. Apologies again for the unexpected closure, that was unexpectedly outside our control, but we’re glad Martin still delivered a great 5* experience.
John_W, Apr 2026
Great late morning tour of 3 Dublin must see attractions. There is a lot of walking but our guide, Mick, etc as fantastic sharing the history of his City. We really enjoyed this tour.
Response from Host, Apr 2026
Great to hear you enjoyed exploring Dublin’s must-see spots with us! There’s a bit of walking alright, but Mick always makes it such a worthwhile experience with the stories he brings to life. Thanks a bundle for joining us and the 5* hit review ofcourse!
Joanie_O, Apr 2026
Very knowledgeable and personable guide
Tour was about 3 hours. Mick was great ! He is passionate and has a wealth of knowledge. He is committed to to the craft and pleasant all around!
Response from Host, Apr 2026
That's so kind, thanks for the 5*review.
This is exactly why we, at City Heritage Tours love what we do. When people leave with a real feel for history and a smile on their face, that's the job done right, building memories and new Irish cultural perspectives.
Really glad you enjoyed it and hope to see you back in Dublin someday! 🙏
Beverly_M, Mar 2026
The tour guide was very knowledgeable about Dublin. I saw and heard stories that I would not have seen in a large tour group. Highly recommended
Response from Host, Mar 2026
Thank you for the kind 5*recommendation. We’re delighted you enjoyed the smaller group tour experience, it really does allow for deeper stories and a more detailed and personal experience that can easily be missed in larger group tours. Glad Dublin came to life for you!
STEPHEN_A, Feb 2026
Amazing tour with colorful and intelligent history. The semi-private trip was really worth it as we got plenty of insight and questions.
Response from Host, Feb 2026
We’re delighted you enjoyed the colour, depth and intelligence of the history shared on the tour — that balance is exactly what we aim for.
The semi-private format really does allow for richer conversation and thoughtful questions, so it’s wonderful to hear that made the experience even more worthwhile for you.
We truly appreciate you joining us and hope to welcome you back again for another deep dive into Ireland’s story.
Emily_C, Feb 2026
Noel was an amazing tour guide. He gave us a lot of history and answered all our questions. If you plan to do this tour, request Noel, you will not be disappointed!!
This was a great tour and saw so much in 3 hours.
Response from Host, Feb 2026
That’s so kind of you to say — thank you!
We’re delighted you enjoyed the tour and that Noel made such a strong impression. His depth of knowledge and willingness to answer every question really does make our tour experiences special to our guests. It’s wonderful to hear you felt you saw so much in just three hours — that’s exactly what we aim for.
We truly appreciate the top 5*recommendation and hope to welcome you back again soon!
Theresa_C, Jan 2026
We had a very small group of 6 (we were 3 of the 6). The guide was very knowledgeable and answered all the questions from the group. For the book of Kells & library part of the tour, the guide gave us a preview of what was to come before we entered since they are not allowed to "guide" within the buildings. The Dublin castle tour is the exterior only, but the guide mentioned that there is a tour of the interior of the church/castle which we ended up doing on our own on another day. St Stephen's church was also interesting to see and being the last stop on our tour, one could stay longer, if desired.
Response from Host, Jan 2026
I’m really glad you enjoyed the small group format and that you felt comfortable asking questions along the way — that’s always what we hope for on our heritage tours.
I’m pleased the preview of the Book of Kells and the Old Library helped set the scene before you went inside, and that you found value in continuing on to explore Dublin Castle further on your own. St Patrick’s is a lovely place to finish, especially as it gives everyone the chance to linger and explore at their own pace.
Thank you again for joining the tour and for sharing your 5*experience. It was a pleasure having you, and I hope the rest of your time in Dublin was just as enjoyable.
Brendan_D, Jan 2026
Amazingly informative and fun. I had a great time and would highly recommend this to everyone traveling to Dublin.
Response from Host, Jan 2026
Thanks for the kind words! We’re delighted to hear you found the tour both informative and fun — that’s exactly the experience we aim to create.
It was a pleasure having you with us, and we truly appreciate the 5* recommendation. We hope Dublin left a lasting impression and that we’ll see you again on another walk through Irish heritage & history.
