We had an awesome day with DG Tours and our guide, Philsbert. He picked us up at the cruise port and, over the next seven hours, gave us an incredible introduction to the island of Dominica. We made stops at Titou Gorge, Trafalgar Falls, Spanny Falls, and Mero Beach, among many other off-the-beaten-path places he showed us along the way. One day is nowhere near enough time to see this beautiful island, but Philsbert's tour was a great start! We highly recommend DG Tours.

Wonderful tour and experience. Booking with Devon was easy and he always responded quickly with any questions or changes to our booking. He even called the morning of to make sure we knew how to find Marcus and were ready for the tour. Marcus was our driver who was great. Took us everywhere we wanted to go, waited on us and also shared lots of information related to the island. Everything about this tour went smoothly and was great. Highly recommend!
Just had an amazing private tour with Devon—such a fun, friendly, and knowledgeable guide! He seemed to know everyone, which made the experience feel even more special and authentic. We loved exploring so many local spots and really getting a true feel for the area. Highlights included Emerald Lake, Titou Gorge, Trafalgar Falls, and the Wotten Waven hot springs, which we had almost entirely to ourselves. Such a unique and unforgettable local experience. We’ll definitely be back!
We spent the day with Philsbert, who not only showed us parts of the island we wouldn't have otherwise seen, he gave us so much education along the way. He pulled over countless times to pull fruit off of trees, pick edible leaves, taste fruit from roadside vendors, and meet his friends and family. It was a great day!
I used DG Tours over the weekend. Overall it was a decent experience. When the tour guide arrived he didn’t let us know he was there. I ended up calling the company only to find he was sitting outside. He didn’t introduce himself or explain where we were going and how long it would take. We asked him his name and he said Dave. It was very clear that he doesn’t enjoy doing this and he’s just helping his brother out. He took us to Middleham falls he complained constantly that he didn’t want to go all the way to the top with us that he was going to turn around and meet us in the car. After about an hour he finally warmed up and decided to be the guide that we paid for. Overall it was fine after we made it up and back down the mountain. He then told us he was going to order lunch for us, he asked what we wanted we said shrimp and fish. We went to pick up the food to my surprise it was from some spot along the side of the road. The lady tells me it’s $50 usd and 140xcd for the 2 meals I was shocked to see how much it cost. If I’m going to spend that much on a meal I would prefer someplace I wanted to go. The lady could tell we didn’t want to pay that much. She said you’re getting a good deal this is Fish and shrimp. I ended up paying and eating it when I got home only to find she gave me shrimp and chicken. What a rip off. Dave didn’t care how much we paid because they gave him free food for bringing us there. If you do this tour decide where you want to eat after the tour don’t let them decide for you, you will be very disappointed. Dave did purchase something for us to try that they all eat at the beginning of the tour and it was very good.
Perfect experience. Our guide, Aaron, was fun, polite, trustworthy and had an excellent knowledge of the beautiful island of Dominica. He knew all the great spots to see and even an authentic delicious island lunch.
Devon was great he took us to numerous locations and stopped by a local bar to try their rum. Everyone was so friendly!
When Devon couldn’t go his brother Kernel stepped in and immediately treated us like old friends. He was so helpful, kind, and extremely funny. We were in good hands. The Titou Gorge was closed due to rainfall levels, but the rest of the events, including the lunch, were fantastic. Would book them again in a heartbeat.
The Boiling Lake. It was raining all day long. We were all wet. However I think that this kind of weather is even better than the sunshine. The guide was awesome, caring.

On this excursion, we were able to see a completely different part of the island. The hike to the swimming hole was beautiful and exhilarating. The Red Rocks area was really gorgeous. The Chocolate Factory was a little disappointing. One of the really nice things that our guide did was find a restaurant for us. My 2 grandchildren, both 18, were really hungry. John took us to a lovely restaurant, in Portsmouth and after we ate, we went to the beach.The only let down was the Chocolate Factory.

There is a lot of character throughout this Island and it would be remiss to limit yourself to a specific focused tour of waterfalls and photo ops. Taking this private driving tour at your own pace and of your own making was worth the experience.

Devon is the best! We spent one day with him and two days with his co-worker, Marcus. They are both born and raised in Dominica and their knowledge of the history and culture of the island is exceptional. Marcus also has an impressive knowledge of the plant life and all the ways in which the locals use it. They both know the roads, which are narrow, steep and curvy, like the backs of their hands. (I would NOT recommend renting a car and driving yourself in Dominica.) Not to mention they are both the nicest, friendliest guys you'll meet. Beyond driving us and arranging for us to see the amazing natural attractions in Dominica, Devon also helped us with restaurant recommendations, taxis and airport transport. Dominica is a magical place and we can't wait to go back--and we will definitely be contacting Devon when we do.

A great day with various highlights (you can chose between several options). We did a boat trip on the Indian river, a hike in the Cabrits National Park, a walk to the Milton falls and Mero beach. Devon was a great guide and gave us good insights into Dominican life and culture.

Hands down our favorite excursion during our cruise. Devon was terrific to work with and very responsive to all my questions. During the excursion he went overboard to make sure we had a good time and got to see and experience everything on our must-see list. He was experienced, knowledgeable and worked hard to make the day a huge success -- from stopping to grab some local fauna for a botany look to providing a delicious cocktail at the end of the day. Please don't hesitate to book with him. Some advice we learned along the way -- make sure you have water shoes and a waterproof pouch for your phone if you are going to the Ti Tou Gorge! You will be in and out of the water all day so come with your bathing suit under clothes you can easily get on and off. We also recommend bringing your own snorkel. Hope you have as much fun as we did!

If you’re visiting Dominica, unlock the beauty of the island with a tour led by Kenny, a reputable taxi owner and local knowledgeable guide. Kenny works with Devon, the guide referenced in the previous posts (that attracted us in the first place.) We never met Devon personally as we booked a private tour with him, but learned later on that he had booked other private excursions with other visitors. My understanding is Devon works with a team of local taxi owners, including Marcus and Kenny, who conduct private tours for visitors to the island.
Kenny is a kind man with a deep knowledge of the island having grown up there. With 365 freshwater rivers and dotted with estuaries and reefs, there is no shortage of things to see on the island.
Among all the various activities you can read about we chose a short hike to Syndicate Falls, a ride down the Indian River in a row boat, & a visit to the old Cabrits military installation on a hill overlooking the bay. The tour lasted for more than four hours with reasonable drives around the island to access the various sites.
Syndicate Falls is a public river falls that requires you pass over private lands to access it. The owner requires each person seeing it to pay a $10 Barbados/$5 US. This was not included in the tour purchase price. There is also a small bar there where they sell alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks and fruit. The access requires you to walk through the lower river that’s beautiful with pristine water. Bring water shoes as it will make the walk much more comfortable. Kenny is very helpful getting everyone safely to the falls.
Indian River is about a 25 minute drive from the falls. This trip also requires a government permit that has to be purchased at a nearby gas station for $6.25/person. It’s a boat ride in a rowboat up the Indian River. You see a set house used in Pirates of the Carribean, visit a small bar where you can purchase drinks. The boatman who rows you in and out appreciates a tip at the end.
Cabrits is the restored English garrison overlooking the harbor in Dominica. You can walk around the restored grounds where naval battles took place. It requires a short walk and gets some nice pictures. It’s now used regularly as a wedding space.
We highly recommend everyone ask for Kenny who is a great guide.

We booked this tour the night before arriving to Dominica and were worried when we contacted both Viator and the number for the tour operator and got no response. I also emailed and sent messages through the chat and nada.
Disembarked at the port and approached some taxis and they called the number and talked to Devon, who happened to be our tour operator and megastar! Also he had not been informed that he had a tour to give and we literally got him out of bed. LOL.
What started as a sketchy booking ended up with an amazing drive through the mountains of Dominica visiting waterfalls and mountains. We were practically the only ones in the lake kayaking. We enjoyed the serenity and quiet. Then Devon had us made a creole breakfast with “cocotee” (hot chocolate with coconut milk). Then went to what I think was the highlight of our tour: this amazing grotto where you have to literally plunge in ice cold water and swim against the current in between these cavernous walls (see pics). It sounds dangerous and crazy but life jackets are mandatory and if you follow instructions, it’s very safe and you will not drown. For context, I’m asthmatic and I was able to do it by staying a bit under water to climatize my body to the temperature and then swim carefully. Devon actually swam in first and he would help us get in and reach final destination. We felt totally safe!
Devon was caring and so funny. It was obvious that everyone knows him and we were in the hands of a very seasoned tour operator. Flexible too. We made our own schedule based on Devon’s recommendations. It was ideal. What a magical place!

Interesting and individual tour with nice driver. Batibou Bay is always worth a visit. After heavy rain at night, the driver adjusted the ride and instead of 4 even reached 5 destinations

Vu que mon hôtel était situé à Portsmouth, j’ai choisi l’option 2. Marcus mon guide et chauffeur était avenant et avait une bonne connaissance des lieux. Je ne recommande pas de louer une voiture puisque la conduite est difficile et les rues étroites. Le visite des chutes Milton- Syndicate Falls- valait le coup. Attention toutefois porter des chaussures appropriées pour traverser le ruisseau avec roches mouillées glissantes pour se rendre aux chutes.
La tournée en bateau de Indian River était agréable et pittoresque. L’arrêt au Bar à mi-chemin était agréable. On a pu voir une partie du décor utilisé dans Pirates des Caraïbes 2.
Bref, activité agréable, sans précipitation, donnant une idée du Nord-Ouest de la Dominique. Cinq autres options sont proposées selon l’emplacement de votre habitation, puisque cela prend environ 1 heure et demi en voiture de Portsmouth à Roseau la capitale!
