Elvera (guide) and Damian (driver) gave us a wonderful tour on Easter Sunday. We visited the Emerald Pool (rumored to make you look 10 years younger) and saw beautiful foliage, including the Bird of Paradise flower. I warn you, if you are not in shape, to stop at the viewing area and let others go all the way down. Down was not bad, but going back up....ugh!! Elvera pointed out many places of interest as we traveled along. We spent a nice time at Mero Beach before heading back to the ship.

Wonderful experience from beginning to the end. Pepper is friendly , courtesy and thorough. Our guide, Dante was knowledgeable, friendly and provided an amazing experience for our family.

We had a great time with Dante and our driver Brother Jones. We had the van to just our group and went to Emerald falls and the black beach. We got lots of local flavors on the tour. It was perfect. Thanks guys!

Pepper and Danté were amazing, we did the 4 hour special and our only regret was not doing the longer tour... We'll be back.
Pepper focused on the road and the timing of stops and Danté gave us a detailed explanation and answered our questions. Both we lovely. We loved arriving early and alone at the falls as our first stop. This is one of the best tours in the Caribbeans

Our experience in Dominica was unforgettable thanks to our fantastic guide Dante and driver Jones. Communication was clear, timely, and effortless from the start. Our guide went above and beyond — especially with our child — taking the time to point out wildlife, explain what we were seeing, and make every moment engaging.
The tour itself was the perfect blend of nature, history, and culture. The walk to Emerald Pool was beautiful, and our guide shared deep insights into Dominica’s cultural heritage, local traditions, and the island’s unique ecology. He showed us local plants up close, explained their uses, and sprinkled in fun facts that truly brought the island to life. The beach stop was relaxing and rounded out the day perfectly.

I loved every moment of the tour, added bonus because it allowed for solo travelers to join. Pepper was very knowledgeable about the island, had great recommendations for various tours, restaurants, etc. Would definitely recommend this tour.
I read comments about the stairs being a problem but to me the steps were pretty easy to navigate, not steep

It’s a long day on the road but Emerald Pool and Mero Beach were worth the time on the road. Pepper and Donte were wonderful guides.

Traveled in an air-conditioned van with no seat belts, cruising on highways with hairpin turns. "Tour" is typical for Caribbean, with long drives and short stays. Emerald pool was difficult for our age (70's) with uneven wet surfaces and long steep climbs up high steps. Pepper should caution older clients that the pool has no hand rails and slippery rocks. Next stop, "Black beach" isn't black, with very poor amenities; toilets with no seats; no beach chairs or umbrellas w/o paying an extra $10 US. Worse was the cramped seating. Pepper than stopped at his Air B&B under the auspices of stocking up. Asked us to extend our time to a 4 hr. excursion, and got snippy when we declined.

Wow, very surprised, especially stating I got snippy. I may of tried to encourage given everyone who has, have certainly enjoyed and thankful they did. Recliner chairs/umbrellas are businesses which you have an option to rent. As to complaints about amenities etc, there has never been that issue before, but I can take a closer look , when we visit again. There are handrails leading you right down to the pool, so I do not understand why the opposite is being said. When you are walking down to the pool or walking across through the loop trail, both areas have handrail and the black sand beach is black.

Our guide was a wealth of knowledge! The trip was beautiful and enjoyable. If you have any issues with stairs or long walks, think twice about this one. It is a long climb!

My wife and I had a wonderful time with Devon as our driver and guide. We shared our tour with only one other person and so it was almost like having a personal guide. Devon was so helpful and accommodating!
His car was clean and comfortable. We felt very lucky to have him and we highly recommend him.

No AC at pick up but Mr. Pepper quickly corrected that., and we got in another van! The rest of the trip was great, lots of history and local info from tour guide. Stops were just right and the Emerald Pool was beautiful. The volcano sands at the beach sparkled like mini diamonds. No pic could do it justice. 1 tip….dont sit in the back of the van🫨

After some confusion about which tour we were on, our family of 6 (grandparents, parents and two young children) joined 4 other adults on a mini bus that headed into the hinterland. The roads were steep and winding, so our family members in the back were battling motion sickness for much of the time (not normal for them). We arrived at the Emerald Pool site and started the trek down to the base of the waterfall. This had been described as 'not wheelchair accessible' which is putting it mildly...there were hundreds of steps down (and then up) so I was unable to make the trek due to my bad knees. Everyone else in our group managed to get to the bottom of the waterfall but not many entered the pool because it required navigating slippery rocks. Once everyone had climbed back up to the bus we headed off again, making an unscheduled stop at the house of Pepper for some undisclosed reason. After that we drove miles to Mero, a fairly basic black sand beach, where some people swam and/or bought some food & drinks. Overall, the commentary from our tour leader was interesting and the scenery on this volcanic island (seen through small bus windows) was often beautiful...but I would not have paid AUD$500 for our family to do this tour if I had known what it was going to be.

I am sorry to hear how you felt about the experience, but there are not hundreds of steps at Emerald Pool and sometimes guests do not go in for different reasons. For some photos are enough, the temperature of the water and as you mentioned there are some rocks upon entry to the waterfall, but that is the case to access all waterfalls on the island, but Emerald Pool, is most accessible because The Forestry and Wildlife Division has built in steps to enter the pool to bathe which everyone appreciates. From your review, I realise that you thought it would be easier or a shorter distance to the waterfall. The description of the tour, does state that you walk to the viewpoint, before walking down to the waterfall. So, if you do return, there is another waterfall outside the National Park which has less steps, which is shorter to get to and is within the same area as Emerald Pool. Enjoyed Emerald Pool and Black sand beach so much. Elvira and Pepper were excellent. Going for a swim in Emerald Pool was highlight for us. We are in our 70’s and would not have wanted to miss the walk or the swim.

Great trip with Pepper driving the van and Elvira as the guide. She went out of her way to make sure everyone was comfortable and happy. The van was air conditioned , had WiFi and Pepper had plenty of drinks in the cooler box. A great way to see the beautiful island of Dominica

Dante was probably the best guide I have ever had. He is funny (we laughed so much in these 4 hours) and he knows so much about the island. We got the chance to try breadfruit and a local rumpunch. After pick up we headed directly to Emerald Pool and were the first ones there. Pepper was our driver. Just be prepared that sometimes he drives like a rally car driver ;-)

Very nice semi private tour with HOT pepper. As describe, we visited the emerald pool and it was memorable. The guide was with us all the time to go through the walkway in the forest. We finished with a great moment at the beach.

I made a reservation for this excursion for a total of 10 people. They were extremely helpful and ensured all 10 of us would be in one private van. The directions they sent me as far as where to meet the tour guide were perfect, there were no issues finding the right place. Once the group was all together and the van arrived to pick us we embarked on a wonderful journey around the island of Dominica. Our tour guide was Georgeanna, and our driver was Ken. Both were friendly, helpful, and very knowledgeable. We went to the Emerald Pool which was beautiful. Path was not the easiest to maneuver...if you are mobility challenged, you may want to reconsider doing the walk. I was able to walk to a viewing area where I could see the waterfall then walk back to the van. We also went to a black sand beach. Wasn't crazy about the restaurant we chose to sit at...crowded and because of the crowd it took a long time for group members to get their food. But the time we spent on the actual tour and the points of interest they took us to were great. We saw beautiful vistas and heard fascinating stories. Georgeanna and Ken were able to answer any question thrown at them. And, Pepper even showed up at one of our stops to check on the group and see how things were going. Definitely a top notch organization...I would use there services again and recommend them to anyone else going to Dominica.

Pepper was the best guide we had on our vacation. He was informative, funny and flexible. He allowed us to extend our 1/2 day excursion to a full day excursion after our 1/2 day excursion was over. He allowed us to pay him after we completed our full day excursion. It was an amazing experience with the most amazing guide. Thank you for a memorable time.

Our guide Georgianna was the highlight of the trip. She was very knowledgeable and we learned a lot from her. Our driver was very good, too. We packed a lot during the time of our tour (which was perfect) without feeling rushed. I highly recommend this tour.

Friendly, fun and proud of their place, the Hot Peppers team are impossible to beat! I loved my time with them. They made sure we went to sites outside of rush hour, and selected a "greatest hits" set of Dominica must-sees. I literally never leave reviews, but this dynamic duo deserve success and I recommend them sooooo highly!

Our guide Georgianna was very knowledgeable about the history of Dominica and the flora and fauna of the island. She answered all sorts of questions that we had. The trip to Morne Trois Pitons National Park, the Emerald Pool, Mero Beach as well as other places, ended up being a delightful 4 1/2 hours of beautiful scenery and experiences. I would book with H.O.T. Pepper Tours again.
