Not what we expected

The rainbow mountain tour was not what we expected. Ysmael and was our tour guide, he was very friendly which we appreciated however his partners were not. Ysmael also asked us to pay an additional $90 to do the hike which was supposed to be included. There was supposed to be oxygen included to help with the elevation and there was none. It rained the entire tour and it was very cold, the driver and the other tour guide continued to roll down their windows which was very inconsiderate being that we were all wet and cold. We took the ATV’s to a certain point then started the hike. The views up to the hiking point were amazing. Once the hike began I was unable to complete it due to the elevation however the other participants that were able to complained that once they reached the top of rainbow mountain, which is an hour + hike all they were able to see was snow and the red clay. I do not recommend this tour.

The atv i was given to ride barely ran. It shuddered all the way and could not keep up with the group. The guide stated there was noting he could do. He offered his atv but stated there was no back breaks.

The tour is fun and the rainbow mountains are worth the hype, but I do have a few comments for one the entrance fee listed on the trip is wrong we were told night before 25 soles and then required to pay 45 for entrance not sure why the adjustment or if we got ripped off. The restaurant is okay at best and be careful what you eat it’s a buffet and if you show up last like us things will have been sitting out for a long time. Also bring plenty of water there won’t be a chance to fill up only buy overpriced bottles. None of that is controlled by the tour operator but I feel it’s important to let people know.

It is a great experience. Our guide was helpful. The ATV's are easy to ride and the views whilst riding are amazing. The tour takes you to the foot of Rainbow Mountain lookout. You will still need to hike to the top to get a view. Instead of hiking you can pay for a short motorcycle or horse ride to the top.
