Your Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu 2-day adventure tour by train in Peru starts with easy pickup in Cusco.

On day one, your first stop is a short one in Awana Kancha to learn about Peruvian textiles and weaving before moving on to a lookout stop in Taray to take in views of the Sacred Valley and Urubamba River.

After the market, your group stops in Urubamba for lunch (own expense), and then it’s off to Ollantaytambo with a visit to the Archaeological Park Ollantaytambo.

Your journey of the day continues with a drop-off at the train station in Ollantaytambo to board an Inca Rail train headed for Aguas Calientes. Enjoy the beautiful views on the train on your way for an overnight at a hotel in Aguas Calientes.

On day two, after an included breakfast, your guide takes you to the nearby bus station to ride a bus up to Machu Picchu. Once your arrive at the Incan citadel, tour the grounds with a guide to get more out of your visit, and then also get free time to explore independently at your own pace.

Very good customer service

Rica_L, Jun 2026
We are a group of 4. We booked the trip 3 months before the trip, and they immidiately got the tickets for us, they reached out to us regarding the available route, and we wanted a circuit 2 ticket but unfortunately was sold out that day, and told us the earliest available day which is a few days apart than our intended day, so we made arrangement and we got the tickets!!! Before the day of pick up they sent instructions for the trip. We were picked up on time on our hotel on a private car. Our guide gary was very knowledgeable and guide us every step of our way. He even walk with us to the train and to the hotel. The hotel on aguas calliente has a very good location. It is near the station and the shops. Good river view and good breakfast selection. The machu picchu trip was amazing as always, but our guide gary is very knowledgeable and also knows where the good photo spots are and also offered to take our pictures. He was very helpful. And if we ever need something their customer service is just 1 message away. They respond easily. Like for example when we got out of the train we couldnt find the driver and they coordinated with him. All in all very good customer service and very good guide! Would recommend to my friends. Thank you to the activity provider for a very good tour

Response from Host, Jul 2026

Dear Maria Rica, Thank you so much for taking the time to share this wonderful 5-star review on Viator. We are absolutely thrilled to hear that your group had such an amazing experience on our 2-Day Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu Tour. We always strive to secure the best possible tickets for our guests, and we are so glad we could work together to adjust the dates and secure those Circuit 2 tickets for you. It is great to hear that our early communication and private hotel pickup set a smooth tone for your journey. We will be sure to pass along your incredibly kind words to Gary. He truly loves sharing the history of Machu Picchu and, as you noticed, finding those perfect photo spots for our guests. We are also glad that our hotel selection and our customer service team were able to support you every step of the way, including coordinating your train arrival. Thank you for recommending us to your friends, and we hope to welcome you or your loved ones back to Peru in the future. We wish you many more safe and wonderful travels ahead. Warmly, Joan

Good tour but less than promised and poor planning

Kulandavelu_N, Jun 2026
A good tour, all organised without hassle but not perfect. We were promised multiple sacred valley visits but we saw only Olantaytambo and briefly Urko. Pisac was only to see the shops and alpacas. Many other sites we on the original program but not delivered. We were also pressured to pay additional sum for the sacred valley tour which wasn’t delivered. With regard to timing Lee wasted about 4 hours in the Aguas Calientes hotel because our Machu Pichu visit finished by 10.30 but had to wait until 16.30 to catch the train to get back to Olantaytambo. We don’t need 6 hours for lunch! Poor planning.

We had a wonderful trip. Thank you so much Eder Madeira Ascue!!! And the staff at the Hotel Ferre who brought bags to the Hotel.

Fantastic Machu Picchu Tour!

Rajesh_N, May 2026
This was a fantastic tour from start to finish. In addition to visiting Machu Picchu, we made several cultural stops along the way, including an alpaca farm, jewelry workshop, and beautiful sites within the Sacred Valley, which made the experience feel much more immersive and complete. Our tour guide Fabrizio was excellent. He managed the group dynamics really well, kept everything organized and enjoyable, and was incredibly knowledgeable. He was able to answer every question and shared so much history and cultural context throughout the trip. He was also genuinely kind and personable, which made the experience even better. Highly recommend this tour for anyone wanting to experience both Machu Picchu and the surrounding culture.

Response from Host, May 2026

Hola Rajesh, Thank you so much for this beautiful review! Reading your words brings a huge smile to our team here in Cusco. We designed this route precisely because we believe Machu Picchu is only part of the story—the true magic lies in the living culture of the Sacred Valley, our weavers, and our ancient traditions. We are thrilled that you enjoyed the alpaca farm and workshops! Fabricio is a true Cusqueño at heart, and his passion for our history is infectious. We will definitely pass along your kind words to him; he will be incredibly proud to know he made your journey so meaningful and immersive. Thank you for traveling with us and for opening your heart to our culture. You always have a home here in the Andes! Warmest regards, The @MachupicchuLatinAmerica team!

Gary and Roman were our...

Andrea_L, May 2026
Gary and Roman were our tour guides and they did a great job leading the charge on this very busy itinerary. It’s a smaller group which makes the activities much more manageable. This is a great option for seeing sacred valley and having the tour operator handle the ticketing situation at Machu Picchu which can be very challenging. Feedback for the company—the lunch stop was disappointing! Service was slow and food was way overcooked. Would’ve been nice to let the tourists choose their own restaurants or offer a more authentic restaurant. The hotel booked in Aguas Calientes (Hotel Ferre) was very bare bones. Lastly, I didn’t like that after I paid for this tour, I had secondary requests for payment for the admittance tickets. Would’ve liked to see that be priced up front.

Response from Host, May 2026

Dear Andrea, Thank you so much for sharing your feedback and for giving us a 5-star rating! We are thrilled to hear that Gary and Roman did a fantastic job leading your group and that our small-group format made your busy itinerary smooth and manageable. We also truly appreciate your constructive feedback regarding the lunch stop and Hotel Ferre. We strive to provide high-quality service at every step, and we will review our dining and accommodation partnerships to ensure they meet our travelers' expectations. We also want to apologize for the confusion regarding the secondary payment requests. The fee you paid later was for the Sacred Valley circuit ticket (Boleto Turístico). Because this official government ticket offers different rates depending on how many days you stay or if you are a student, we traditionally keep it separate. However, we completely understand how receiving a separate payment request after booking can be frustrating. We are actively working to make this mandatory fee much more prominent and clearer during our upfront booking process. Thank you again for choosing us for your Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu adventure. We wish you the very best in your future travels! Warm regards, The @MachupicchuLatinAmerica team!

We had an excellent experience with our tour guide Christian and driver Fredi. Christian was incredibly knowledgeable, sharing detailed insights about the history, culture, and local highlights at every stop. He explained everything clearly and made the experience both engaging and educational. Fredi was a fantastic driver—professional, punctual, and most importantly, very safe. We always felt comfortable and well taken care of throughout the journey. Together, they made a great team and truly enhanced our trip. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a smooth, informative, and enjoyable tour experience.

Response from Host, May 2026

Hi Shefali, Thank you so much for this amazing 5-star review! As the driver for your trip, it was an absolute pleasure taking care of you on the road and making sure you felt safe and comfortable. Christian and I love working together as a team, and I will definitely pass your wonderful compliments along to him. He always does a fantastic job sharing the incredible history of our culture, and we are both thrilled that we could make your journey so smooth and memorable. We had amazing trip with Machu Picchu Latin America. Our guide Gary and driver Roman picked us up right on time. Our guide shared his vast knowledge at each site and made sure to pace the activities well. The climb at the terraces are steep but heade sure to stop and let everyone catch up. We were met by the next guide when we arrived at the station at Aguas Calients. They explained the next day and accompanied us to the hotel. Paulo met us at the hotel the next morning exactly on time and explained every detail as we went. His provided expert details at Machu Picchu and assisted with taking amazing photos. When we arrived back at Ollantaytambo station our transport back to Cusco was waiting. The whole trip was amazing. We took the Vistadrome train option and the 3 star hotel. The hotel was clean and very comfortable.

Response from Host, May 2026

Hola Sophia, Thank you so much for this detailed 5-star review of your 2-Day Sacred Valley & Machu Picchu Tour from Cusco by Train. We are absolutely thrilled to hear that the entire logistics of your trip—from the timely pickups with Gary and Roman to the smooth coordination with our team at the Aguas Calientes station—felt seamless and stress-free. Pacing those steep Inca terraces in the valley can be tough, and we are so glad Gary took such good care of everyone. It is also fantastic to hear that Paulo looked after you so well at the citadel the next morning, sharing his expert knowledge and capturing those unforgettable photos! Opting for the scenic Vistadome train truly adds that extra touch of Andean magic to the journey. Thank you for exploring our beautiful home and for choosing to travel with a Peruvian local operator. Warm regards, The @MachupicchuLatinAmerica Family

We had a wonderful experience. Our first day was led by Gary with Freddy as our driver. Both were extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the places that we visited. We even got to see an Inca site that was not originally on the itinerary, which was a huge bonus! On our second day for Machu Picchu, our amazing tour guide Jose was very prompt with meeting us in the morning and gave us an extremely thorough explanation of Machu Picchu and the surrounding areas. We had such an amazing time on this two-day tour and would book again. Big thanks again to Gary, Freddy and Jose!!

Experience was really smooth from pick up to drop off. Thanks to our guide Juan Fabrizio helped us in tour with their guidance and knowledge about incan civilization. Overall we enjoyed it thoroughly.

Unforgettable Tour and Experience...except for the hotel.

Virginia_B, Apr 2026
Wonderful tour of the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu. Very knowledgeable, local guides who added value and insights. Would have been 5 stars except for the extremely disappointing quality of the hotel in Aguas Calientes. Our private tour of the Sacred Valley was outstanding; started off with a stop at a small animal sanctuary and local weaving craft. The following drive through the Sacred Valley was stunning; plenty of photo stops and the guide was always flexible to accommodate anything we wanted to do. He was also very kind, understanding and helpful in adjusting the pace given my husband's many medical challenges. The Machu Picchu tour was the experience of a lifetime. Our tour guide, Jose, was a local from Aguas Calientes. He provided a wealth of information about the site and its history. Prompt, on time, and well organized. Definitely recommend the #2 Tour at the site. He, too, was able to adjust to my husband's needs in terms of pace (although not quite as intuitive as Ephram was). The only issue we had with this tour was the hotel stay in Aguas Calientes. It was not the hotel originally indicated (although owned by the same management group. It was the Ferre Hotel; described as "three star" but giving it a "two" would be generous. It was a very long walk from the train station, indicated it had room service (it didn't) and was pretty much "bare bones", Our room had an open window into a shaft (no view); no drinking glasses, water, or coffee maker; no hair dryer and very few other amenities (small bars of soap in the bathroom and limited towels). The linens were clean as was the room in general, but it was very dated and in need of renovation. They did have a breakfast buffet which was okay, but nothing special. That said, we were very happy with the tour, the staff, and the organization of all details. We were met promptly by all drivers, we were given all the tickets and details needed for trains, shuttle buses, and entrance to the site. We will continue to book tours with Viator as we've always had good experiences. Just work on the hotel choice, please!

Fantastic adventure!

Ted_R, Apr 2026
Trip of a lifetime! Every stop on the itinerary was a new adventure. perfectly coordinated logistics. Well curated visits to amazing sites. All of the tour guides were extremely knowledgeable and added historical context to every place we visited.

Beautiful two day experience

Stefan_S, Apr 2026
The tour has been fantastic and we had a beautiful two day experience with the highlight of Machu Picchu. Every stop on this tour has been informative and super interesting and we loved the variety that the tour gave us. Highlight was our guide Fabrizio who was wonderful guiding us at every step with a smile on his face. He expanded our knowledge about the history of Peru and Inka empire, it had a profound effect on how we experienced this trip as well. We are very thankful and definitely recommend him 100%.

What an experience!

Jack_S, Mar 2026
A brilliant experience - from start to finish. Our only point was the lunch on the first day wasn't the best. But apart from that - it was incredible, the tour guides were so so knowledgeable and the sites were unbelievable - would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone.

The 2 days Machu Picchu...

YingWei_C, Mar 2026
The 2 days Machu Picchu and Sacred Valley tour was very worth it. There are so many things to see, but the time allocated for each site is sufficient, there is no rush from places to places, everything was well organized and the instruction is clear. Our guide Christian is very knowledgeable and friendly. He shared a lot of things with the group and patiently answer our questions. This tour is highly recommended if you do not have the luxury of time to explore the area.

Simply wow! Experience of a lifetime

Manoj_K, Mar 2026
It was a once in a lifetime experience brought alive by the Luis our guide. Even though we reached Machu Picchu at a time when nothing was visible, he kept us engaged for a full 2 hours. He also explained to us where we could wait for the best views until the weather clears, which it eventually did. Must visit! And ask for guide Luis

Machu Pichu

Joseph_P, Mar 2026
This a great tour. Gary and Luis our tour guides were fantastic. Machu Pichu is tiring but well worth the effort.

Amazing and professional tour

John_M, Mar 2026
Professional and well designed tour. The guides were highly knowledgeable and the trip well planned and executed. There was always someone there to make sure you got to where you needed.

Machu Picchu Trip - What a wonderful experience

Kelly_G, Mar 2026
We couldn’t ask for any better, our tour guides were exceptional, we never had to worry from one point to the other that our new tour guide was there. They were all there waiting with signs with our name. The hotel was excellent and when we arrived the guide was there to welcome us (and explain the time he was picking us up and what to expect) and also our porter from our hotel who actually carried our bags, recommended places to eat along the way. All in all our experience was more than a 5 star.

Perfect organised combined trip Sacred Valley & Machu Picchu

Edwin_v, Mar 2026
We had a very knowledgeable and nice and well English speaking guide Juan Carlos, he made this tour unforgettable! Sacred Valley combined with Machu Picchu in 2 days is highly recommended

Well-paced tour covering highlights

Donna_L, Mar 2026
Great, well-paced, all-inclusive (except some meals) tour that hit all the highlights without the headache of trying to organise it yourself. Our tour guide, Juan Carlos, was the absolute best guide we’ve had (and we’ve been on many tours). He was passionate, educational, patient and funny! Would highly recommend this tour to anyone

Response from Host, Mar 2026

Hi Donna, Thanks a million for the high praise! Weare very happy that you could enjoy this amazing 2 day sacred valley and Machupichcu tour by train with our team. I will pass your kind words along to Juan Carlos—he really is a star when it comes to bringing history to life with a laugh. Safe travels on your next adventure Best wishes @MachupichcuLatinAmerica team!!!

Our guide was extremely...

S_B, Mar 2026
Our guide was extremely kind and enthusiastic, and thanks to his explanations we learned a great deal about Inca history, spirituality, and engineering. The tour was very fulfilling and informative. We were traveling with elementary school–aged children, but there were absolutely no problems. In fact, the kids quickly grew very fond of the guide and asked him many questions throughout the tour. It was a wonderful experience for our whole family. The only disappointing point was that there was no hot water at the hotel in Aguas Calientes, so we had to make do with a cold shower. I’m not sure whether this is common in Aguas Calientes, though.

Response from Host, Mar 2026

Dear Satoka, Thank you so much for sharing your family's experience! It’s wonderful to hear that your children connected so well with our guide—it’s always a highlight for us when young explorers are so engaged and full of questions. We’re glad we could make the history and engineering of the Incas accessible and fun for the whole family. We sincerely apologize for the lack of hot water at the hotel in Aguas Calientes. While this can occasionally happen in remote areas due to local infrastructure, it is certainly not the standard we expect for our guests. We are currently following up with the hotel management to ensure this was an isolated incident and to prevent it from happening to future families. We truly appreciate your feedback and are so happy that the rest of your experience was fulfilling and memorable for the whole family! Best wishes @MachupicchuLatinAmerica team!!!

A nice adventure

Gregg_O, Mar 2026
All went well. The guides were great and everything was on time. I just had to show up. Machu Picchu is an amazing site, well worth the time and cost. The only problem is that the web site allowed me to book Circuit 2. Then a week later I was told that it was sold out. What? Shouldn't the site block booking a sold out tour?

Highly recommend!!

Emily_G, Feb 2026
This is an amazing tour and I would highly recommend! Great way to see Machu Picchu and the sacred valley. As a solo female traveller I was very happy on this tour and everything was faultless. All of the transportation and sightseeing was seamless and were not rushed. Both tour guides Adriel and Luis were very informative and passionate. 10/10

Response from Host, Feb 2026

Hi Emily, Thank you so much for your wonderful 10/10 review! We are thrilled to hear that as a solo female traveler, you felt comfortable and well-cared for throughout the journey. It is great to know that the transportation and pacing met your expectations, and we will be sure to share your kind words with Adriel and Luis. We truly appreciate your recommendation and hope to welcome you back to Peru someday! Best wishes @MachupicchuLatinAmerica team!!!

Amazing tour to Machu Picchu and Sacred Valley

Hanna_S, Feb 2026
This tour is a must if you're in Peru and planning on going to Machu Picchu. First day we stopped at an Alpacka farm, Pisac, Sacred Valley, a small town and we tooked the train to Aguas calientes where we stayed one night. Recommend to choose the expensive train tickets to the observatory, that train was the best. Live music, best view, goodie bag etc. Second day we went to Machu Picchu, which was as amazing as you could dream of. We were lucky to get the tour guide Fabricio. He was amazing and thought us everything we needed to know about Peruvian and Inka history. You should definitely book this trip if you can!

Response from Host, Feb 2026

Dear Hanna, Thank you so much for the 5-star review! We are thrilled that you enjoyed the full experience, from the alpaca farm and Sacred Valley to the magic of Machu Picchu. We are especially glad you recommended the Observatory train upgrade—the live music and panoramic views really do make the journey to Aguas Calientes unforgettable! Fabricio will be so happy to hear that his passion for Inca history made an impact on your trip. We truly appreciate the recommendation and hope to see you again. Best wishes @MachupicchuLatinAmerica team!!!

Well organized tour, good value

Ruth_L, Jan 2026
The 2-day trip was well organized. Fabricio, our guide, was experienced and gave us scheduled breaks when climbing to give us enough time to rest and take pictures. The trip also included stops to see how local people live which was educational. Hotel Ferre lived was clean and had good breakfast options. It lived up to its 3-star expectations. The only concern we had was the buffet lunch for 70 soles. All tour buses stopped here. This was a tourist trap. While you were not forced to purchase the lunch, there were no other options nearby. Ollayantambo was just 20 minutes away with many other choices for a quick bite at different price points. We always bring snacks when we travel so we did not go hungry. I think people should be given a choice.

Two unforgettable days in the Sacred Valley and Machi Picchu.

Michelle_Z, Jan 2026
Two unforgettable days in the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu. This tour included extras that were worth seeing. The camel and textiles stop. The terracing stop. Ollyamtambo. Fabrizio was an excellent tour guide at all these sites. He was also our guide a Machu Picchu, making it a once in EVa lifetime experience. Definitely take the Vista Dome train both ways. I highly recommend.
