The archaeological site of Knossos is open: from 1st April until 31 October daily: 08:00 - 20:00 and from 1st November until 31 March daily:08:00- 17:00
The archaeological site of Knossos is extensive and open so the visitors should wear comfortable shoes and sunscreen and take a hat and a bottle of water
Due to the touristic affluence, it is advised to start your visit early in the morning

WONDERFUL! This was a last minute “add” to our itinerary so we chose the self-guided audio. The system worked perfectly - we downloaded the app & file prior to Knossos Palace arrival. (we had a horrible experience with another audio/company despite preparing everything well in advance). The audio clearly walked us through designated stops with audible directions and matching location pictures. The audio was very informative and the male voice engaging. As this is audio only, I recommend purchasing Palace entrance tickets via Hellenic Heritage website so you can quickly enter (& by-pass the crazy ticket line in the summer heat). HIGHLY recommend!!!

Knossos is a very interesting piece of history and such a big area that has been excavated. The audio tour was only a bit helpful as we found the directions between it and the lack of signage difficult to follow. The basic history from the audio tour was very interesting and it provided a lot of deeper analysis of the different areas - we sometimes chose to skip some of the deeper analysis and commentary.

Great content, but audio guides should be available the instant you book. Had to book for a future date and then call the company for the access code. Since everything is digital, you should be able to book and get instantly like everything else. Content was really interesting aside from not knowing exactly where to go on site - more general info with some surprising facts about how advanced they were 4000+ years ago!

While the tour talked about daily life back then, it didn't tell us anything much about what we were actually looking at. We were looking more for a specific explanation of what part of the palace we were in and it's relevance. If that's what you want then you are better off with an actual tour guide! However, if you are just interested in daily Minoan life, this might do for you.

The audio tour contains many interesting facts that provide a good knowledge base about Knossos beyond the information boards. The included directions were not always clear to us. We would have appreciated the option for accelerated playback. The pronunciation of the content was clear and at a moderate pace. The experience is still highly recommendable!

Expérience décevante avec Viator ! J’ai réservé une visite guidée du palais de Knossos en pensant que le billet d’entrée était inclus, comme suggéré par le tour-opérateur. Surprise désagréable sur place : il fallait payer l’entrée en plus ! Aucune mention claire lors de la réservation. Heureusement, j’ai pu profiter de la visite, mais autant la faire soi-même sans passer par Viator. Produit trompeur, à éviter !
