Ricky and Jesus were wonderful! Our tour was incredible - our guides tailored our trip perfectly and made recommendations when we asked. We enjoyed a private sandy beach, amazing food and also life-changing mojitos at the “Welcome to Miami” spot! We got away from the tourist hub and to the other side of the island. Thank you! Highly recommend!

One of our best tours ever! Aldair our guide and Hansen our driver were fabulous. We went to Tierra Maya which we highly recommend. We tasted some local tequila and honey and made our own salsa and tortillas while learning about the Mayan culture and history. Afterwards we had a delicious lunch that was right on the beach.. best view ever and food was amazing.

Great guide. Great time.

We had a wonderful day trip in Cozumel with our tour guide. He made requested stops that matched our interests, recommended a really special visit to Tierra Maya, a low key, local site of Mayan knowledge and rituals. Took us to a quiet beach with great food and service. He was friendly , knowledgeable and a joy to spend the day with. I may be writing his name incorrectly? Adilio, named after a Brazilian soccer player.

We had a great day with Irving! He is super laid back and friendly. We stopped at a cute honey/cocoa place in the jungle with friendly people, we loved it! Stopped for coconuts, had a delicious lunch and drinks at a beach side lunch place and went to the beach for the kids to play in the water some. Irving had us back to our drop off spot in time to get in line to get back on our cruise ship.

Best tour ever!

Private Van Tour Cozumel

Robert_J, Mar 2026
We had such a wonderful experience with our guide Ricky! He was so knowledgeable and passionate about Cozumel! His educational tour through the Mayan Ruins of San Gervasio was phenomenal! We were a party of 6 in a private van. Highly recommend! 🇲🇽

Wonderful Experience

Shannon_K, Mar 2026
Absolutely a wonderful experience. Our driver Enrique was very knowledgeable and took us everywhere we wanted to go and then some other places to experience the whole island.

Don’t hesitate to book with this company!

Trudi_V, Mar 2026
Diego gave us a memorable tour of Cozumel! We asked to see culture, nature and food and he delivered. His knowledge and stories about the island provided us a truly unique experience and it was evident that he not only loves his home, but loves his job. We can’t recommend him enough!!! Thanks for the memories Diego - they will not soon be forgotten.

Aldair and Jesus, our guide and driver, were extremely efficient and accommodating. We chose to see the Mayan ruins which everyone found very interesting. The highlight of the tour was Tierra Maya where we made salsa, tortillas, chocolate and had a tequila tasting. We were also able to see the east side of the island. Would highly recommend this tour.

Enjoyable and informative

Nigel_B, Mar 2026
Enrique our driver met us 5min before the planned time with a clear notice showing our names and took us on a short walk to the 4 seater compact Jeep in excellent condition. He asked us what we would like to do and see and tailored the trip to precisely meet these. He spoke excellent English which made it easy for us to understand, and provided lots of interesting facts and information on Cozumel. We felt very safe with his unhurried and considerate driving. All in all a great experience. We have no hesitation in recommending Enrique and this tour operator for a great private customisable tour of Cozumel.

OK. Nice Sunday drive around island.

Patricia_M, Mar 2026
We were expecting a jeep. We got a tiny jeep suv that was a tight fit for 3 women in back. Worst of all, the vehicles seat belts in back were broken. We were offered an upgrade MiniVan for more money! Although our guide "Gato" was friendly, it appeared he was steering us to beachfront properties that charged American prices for a massage which was our priority. We enjoyed a beach area called El Mirador. Very choppy seas but pretty. Caution regarding vendors, one of whom was unscrupulous and charged me $57 more than expected and also cut off the receipt showing USD amount! (Ive disputed the charge). The island is small. Shopping is better in town. Vendors at beaches are charging more, not less. I recommend a one day pass at private beach properties for best beach areas.

Nice tour around Cozumel island.

Kenneth_B, Mar 2026
Very nice tour around Cozumel island, including the San Gervasio ruins, the "Wild Side" of the island and Palm Beach resort. Our guide, "Alda" was very good!

Very good shore excursion

Roger_S, Mar 2026
My guides were Angelo and Gerardo. They were awesome. Very helpful to my wife who has some mobility issues. They were very entertaining and knowledgeable about the history of Cozumel . They treated us as honored guests and before the tour was over we became instant friends. This was probably the best shore excursion we have ever been on. They found out what our interests were and adjusted our tour to meet them. Also offered their recommendations for us to choose from.

Get off the ship and Explore Cozumel!

Karen_M, Feb 2026
During our cruise ship stop in Cozumel we were lucky enough to get Angelo as our private guide to explore his island by jeep. Angelo was very friendly and came up with great ideas of places to see along the way. We visited the Mayan Ruins, saw local beaches stopping at coco loco for a drink, and spent time at Tierra Maya (not to be missed!) a tranquil Mayan oasis in the jungle. Finished the day off a brief stop at the town straw market. VIator trips never disappoint!

Great option if you want to explore the island

Eva_Z, Feb 2026
I’m glad that we booked this private tour for our Cozumel excursion. We had some destinations in mind, needed a vehicle and a local who can share local island culture and information. We also wanted to avoid places like tequila/chocolate tasting — not interested. It’s easy to communicate with the agency for booking and changes(we had to change our meeting time due to misunderstanding of the port arrival time). Our tour guide, Diego is superb. He showed up on time, and quickly helped us decide the ideal route. He’s very knowledgeable (a local), and attentive. We were able to see the east side and the beautiful Punta Sur. Diego took us to the snorkeling place we picked and helped coordinate things. When we went snorkeling, he even offered to keep eyes on our belongings. Was a lovely experience with his input!

Book this private tour you won’t regret it.

Wingyu_G, Feb 2026
What a brilliant day with Diego. The itinerary was just as we had asked: chocolate tasting , Mayan ruins, Cozumel coastline and some authentic Mexico food. It really was an insightful tour with Diego we learnt so much about Cozumel. Even my 17 year old teenager loved it and you know how hard teenagers are to please.

Our new way to enjoy new places!

Michelle_P, Feb 2026
When none of the cruise excursions met our hopes, we decided to try a “make your own itinerary”. BEST thing we ever did! Daniel was the most amazing host, and Benny was a terrific driver!! We went to a local coffee shop and a local grocery. We went to the Cathedral Corpus Christie - such a beautiful place. The square across the street was where Daniel learned to ride a bike! Next we went to an outdoor market - filled with butchers and fish mongers and farm stands, and a number of local eateries. I got some shrimp tacos, and - when my wife asked for refried beans and they didnt have them - they mashed and fried black beans, which were a complete delight! Im going to make some when i get home!! We had read about some experiences where you can make chocolate and salsa. Danial made a couple calls and took is to Tiera Maya - a small, privately owned place. His friend Joel then took us through grinding cocoa beans with an ancient stone technique, and added some local honey. It was another big win! Then we tasted some small batch, locally made tequila and other spirits. Made with ingredients from Mexico, by traditional means. No hard sell - just a great history and tasting! Then we went and made tomato & pepita salsa and a tortilla BY HAND! All of this was FREE! Of course we tipped Joel and his helper, and I bought a lot of alcohol. We arent drinkers, but it will make a great story over a night of Cocktails and Conversation! We finished up with a quick stop at the pharmacy and got dropped off right at the port. Daniel was so knowledgeable and generous with his knowledge. Not in a droning way - it was just easy conversation about things we inquired about. It was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had, and my adult family really loved it too. I wish i could leave a 10 star review bc 5 doesnt begin to describe it. We are already looking for more options like this at future stops!

Angelo was the perfect local to spend the day with. So friendly and he had lots of great suggestions on how to spend our day.

Great tour of Cozumel!

Reginald_T, Feb 2026
This is a great tour. Our tour guide, Irving, did a fantastic job showing us the important sites throughout Cozumel. We had the opportunity to see the bee hives, vanilla plants, and make authentic chocolate from cacao beans. It was a great experience! We left there and toured around the island and ended up spending a couple hours on a beautiful beach! I would strongly recommend Viator tours of Cozumel and Irving as your driver!

Great tour which included a hidden gem!

Gabriella_A, Feb 2026
This experience was by far the best experience I have had. The tour guide was excellent, accommodating, knowledgeable, and friendly. I was the only one on the tour. I felt that I had a highly personalized tour. She, Gaby Dela Cruz, communicated with me about 2 weeks before my arrival, asking me what I would like to experience during our tour. Then she followed up with excellent directions to the meeting point. She listened to my preferences which included my desire to visit an authentic Mexican market, a church, and to experience some of the pristine nature. One of the highlights of the tour was visiting Tierra Maya. There, I crafted tortillas, made delicious tomato salsa, learned about the tiny stingless Mexican bees that produce the most delicious honey. I ground up cacao beans, tasted the most delicious chocolate, crafted a beautiful beeswax candle, and learned about the different tequilas and other delicious liquors. All the tequilas were available to sample/taste Tierra Maya was a beautiful venue, peaceful and serene. I enjoyed the experience I had there very much. The Mexican market offered me an opportunity to buy cinnamon, allspice, and ginger. I was also happy to see how the locals shop there for their foods and supplies. We visited another cruise ship pier and got a chance to shop for souveniers. The driver of the van was always courteous gladly drove us to our many destinations. We even stopped for a tasty ice cream treat. All in all it was a terrific and memorable day!

Fun! But not exactly what we wanted.

Amanda_W, Feb 2026
Overall we enjoyed the excursion - Cozumel is a beautiful island! There were some pros and cons: - our guide Irving was great- really enjoyed him as our guide (side note: he should consider doing a food tour as the taco place he recommended at the end of the tour was delicious!) - we ended up doing more driving than activities. So this was a con but I actually liked driving around the island. The problem was the jeep was a bit squishy for 3 out of 4 of us. - we didn’t have a clear plan going in so if we did this tour again we would have that in place to avoid missing out on the activities that we really wanted to do (instead of a lot of driving) - would recommend at the beginning of the tour to discuss any extra costs. Maybe let the guide know what your budget is for the activities. We knew we would be paying for the activities but the beach club we were taken to was really expensive - the drinks were over $20 USD (I’m Canadian), after the $20 USD per person entrance fee. - we went to Bee Friendly Cozumel - was fun and would recommend So, overall, more research needed on our part. We don’t have a lot of experience with this. However it feels like certain beach clubs, for example, have deals with the tour guides and so we end up there instead of places that may cost less. Would consider doing this again or just renting a vehicle/driving ourselves (if we knew the island better). Communication was good.

Charly was very friendly and informative. We had a great day exploring and learning new things. We really enjoyed Jeremiah sanctuary with Jessica.

A fabulous time in Cozumel!

Nancy, Feb 2026
We had a FANTASTIC experience with Johny and our driver from visit Cozumel. They took us to Tierra Maya, a beautiful new attraction that just opened in 2026. This family owned area provided the opportunity to learn and sample honey and tequila and also make and sample our own chocolate and salsa. The guide was knowledgeable and kind, teaching us about the customs and culture. We were beyond thrilled with our entire experience!

Response from Host, Feb 2026

Hola hola from Cozumel, Nancy! 🌴😊 Thank you so much for your sweet review! We’re so happy you had a fantastic time with Johny and our driver. They’ll be smiling big when they read this 💛 Tierra Maya is such a special little place in the jungle, created to keep Mayan traditions alive in a fun and hands-on way. It’s perfect for guests who want something different from the typical beach stop, and we’re so happy you truly enjoyed the experience. See you next time for your next adventure in Cozumel!
