Take a taxi and ask the driver to take you to the Blue Kay Eco-Cabanas. The taxi costs $5 US each way. Get off in the parking lot next to the Reception Building. Take the path to the promenade and you will find the dive center on the right, next to the restaurant.

The tour company charged us twice even though we only made one reservation. We asked them to correct but they would not.

This excursion was so fun! We loved every minute. It was a perfect length of time and we saw a turtle in addition to seeing all the amazing fish. The staff was so friendly and even waited for us as it took us longer to get out of the cruise port. The pineapple at the end tasted so good. So happy to get away from all the cluster of the port and get out to this location - which had a beautiful beach, great shops and food - that was a bonus after we finished this excursion/snorkeling.

We had an absolutely incredible time on the Mahahual Snorkeling Adventure: Turtle Encounter! Axel, Nigel & the Captain of the boat were outstanding guides from start to finish. They were professional, friendly, patient, and made everyone feel safe and comfortable in the water.
They took us to the perfect spots where we were lucky enough to see sea turtles up close, along with beautiful tropical fish and the amazing reef. Their knowledge of the area and enthusiasm made the entire experience even more enjoyable.
What really stood out was how much they cared about making sure everyone had a great time. They were attentive, answered all our questions, and made the trip fun for everyone, regardless of snorkeling experience.
If you’re visiting Mahahual or Costa Maya, I highly recommend booking this tour and asking for Axel and Nigel. They truly made our day unforgettable. Thank you both for an amazing adventure we’ll definitely be back! 🌊🐢👏

Went here with my ten year old son. He has been in the pool since he was a kid but has limited ocean experience. The waves at the dock were a bit high but so I was worried he may struggle. The spot we ended up going to was naturally protected by a reef and was fairly calm. The guides were very attentive to everyone but especially the kids. I was very comfortable with them watching my son. The snorkeling was pretty good. Cool fish, nice reef, limited seaweed. The area is a 3 minute walk from the lighthouse. Taxi driver was 5.00 a person. Overall 10/10 for an easy snorkeling trip! Highly recommend.

We found the location easily and had a very warm welcome. After a short boat ride and safety briefing we entered the water . The guides were very friendly and competent. They lead us to various coral reefs with lots of different species of fish . The highlight was seeing two turtles feeding . Without their experience we would never have seen them . We were in the sea for an hour and after returning they had facilities to shower . An excellent trip overall and great value for money .

Great experience with the folks from this tour today. Everyone was very helpful and nice from beginning to finish. Our tour guide took us all over to see several areas of coral and fish. We didn't see a sea turtle this trip but it was still well worth it. Highly recommend!

We did this as a self-booked excursion during a cruise. The instructions were easy to follow as far as how to get a cab and where to direct them to go (and what it should cost). We arrived a bit before the excursion time and browsed some of the nearby shops. When it was time for our tour, the other party/parties were no-shows and we ended up with a private tour. There were two crew - the "captain" who stayed with the boat and a guide who came out swimming with us. We had a good amount of time on the water and he led us around the reef area pointing out a number of interesting sights including some rather large turtles. All equipment was provided and fit well. No safety concerns at any point. Would highly recommend and might even do again on a future cruise.

Very nice experience with tour guide and captain! Don’t bring sun block and do this tour early. Can’t stress enough how much the Yucatán residents are trying to protect the waters and environment!! We saw a sting ray, turtle and lots of fishes!!!

There were only 7 people on the tour, 5 of which were my family. It is a very safe fun activity. We did find 1 turtle and he was amazing.
There is a whole shopping area with a beach which the dive shop is on. Show up early to find way better deals there. I recommend this tour 100%

Tour operator was super friendly and helpful. We missed our tour but they moved us to the next time slot with no problems. The snorkel tour was great. We got to see turtles, rays, and a ton of different fish.

This is a hidden gem. The owner and his brother were so accommodating. Our ship was over an hour late and they allowed us to still come. My kids enjoyed an hour of snorkeling! One of my kids has anxiety and they were so helpful with him. Highly recommend this group for smaller kids. It’s a quick 5 min ride from the port. Taxi 4 bucks per person.

We saw two sea turtles on our snorkel tour! The group was a bit larger than we realized and at times it was difficult to keep our guide in view under the water with others in the way and still avoid getting kicked by flippers. The reef and view other wise were a bit underwhelming in the area compared to a few other tropical snorkeling adventures and the swimming/search was quite fast paced but we got to see turtles!

We were lucky the sea was calm. Saw a lot of different fish and a few stingrays. Our 66-year-old aunt was with us, a first-time snorkeler, was able to greatly enjoy the experience with the help of our guide, Victor. Our 10- and 6-years old kids, good swimmers, greatly enjoyed the experience as well. Thank you very much, Victor.

Was a good time. Didn’t see any turtles. Would be better if allowed to remove life jackets to dive down some. Overall, a decent trip/excursion. Taxi cab was $4-5 per person to get to the location from port.

We had a great experience snorkeling! Neto was our guide. Spoke English easily and we had no worries the entire experience. Saw coral reef, many types of fish and a couple of sea urchins. Did not see any turtles but that is how it goes sometimes.

We booked this as our excursion in Costa Maya while on a cruise
- after finding your way out of the cruise port getting a taxi was fairly simple and costs $4 per person
- they loaded us in a multi-passenger van along with people headed to Crazy Lobster (a bar/restaurant on the beach)
- the driver dropped us all in the same spot, so we had to walk about 10 minutes back along the beach to get to the shop
- shop checked us in and gave us our gear. Gear was very good.
- wind and waves were very strong and current was strong as well
- we were a group of 6 altogether with a captain and dive leader
- we had to walk into the water to get into the boat. There is no dock, so you need to be prepared to get wet getting into the boat
- not much storage space one the boat. I had a dry bag which worked well.
- saw a spotted eagle ray and typical reef fish. No turtles. We snorkeled in Roatan earlier in the week and Roatan was much better than Coast Maya for fish and coral
- it was tiring swimming against current and waves
- everyone used lifejackets in the water. Not sure if that was an option or mandated
- they gave us individual packaged pineapple slices on the boat afterwards
- no place to change that we found at the beach afterwards. Got in our taxi wet
- Dive shop called a taxi for us and it picked us up right at the shop, again $4 per person to get back to the port
- some in our group rented a golf cart later in the day and went exploring. They really enjoyed that. $60 for the day. General though was we could have gotten a golf cart instead of a taxi and had more fun and freedom for not much more cost. If we were doing it again we would have done that to get to the beach as opposed to a taxi, then went snorkeling
- for the cost, this tour was a good value

Boat was a little old, but the snorkeling equipment was high quality and the experience overall was fantastic! The location is fantastic, since the snorkeling is on a barrier reef, the waves are small and the coral is close to the surface and easy to see without diving. Our guide was great and was especially good at helping those who hadn't snorkeled before feel comfortable. We found sea turtles and saw much more. Fresh pineapple afterwards was also a nice touch.

My family of four loved this excursion. My two daughters are 10 and 13. The little one was pulled by a life preserver d/t rougher seas that day but she always felt safe and we were all able to enjoy ourselves. We did see a turtle and PLENTY of fish! We enjoyed fresh pineapple on the boat after which was a nice treat. I would highly recommend this tour. Taxi ride was $4 per person there and back and they called a taxi for us on our way back. They also kept our belongings safely locked away while we were on the boat.
