This was an excellent experience. Cesar was a knowledgeable and attentive guide who pointed out a wide variety of marine life, including a spotted eagle ray. We booked a private snorkeling charter, and as a group of women, we felt safe, well cared for, and comfortable throughout the trip. The pricing was also very reasonable. Highly recommend booking this experience.

This is a perfect experience for a group of divers with varying skill levels. Caesar is a great guide — always working to make you see as many fish as you can. He’s also incredibly friendly. The location of this trip also takes you out of the hustle and bustle of the port to see a better side of costa maya in my opinion,

The snorkeling experience in Costa Maya was unforgettable, and what really set it apart was the exceptional customer service from start to finish. The staff made everything easy, from clear instructions before departure to helping us gear up and ensuring we were comfortable in the water. The boat ride to the reef was smooth, well organized, and the crew kept the energy fun without feeling chaotic. Once in the water, the reef delivered big time, healthy coral, vivid tropical fish, and surprisingly great visibility. We saw everything from parrotfish and angelfish to schools of smaller, shimmering fish weaving through the coral like something out of a documentary. The guides struck the perfect balance between giving us freedom to explore and staying close enough to help when needed. They were knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely seemed to enjoy sharing the reef with us. Safety was clearly a priority, but it never overshadowed the adventure. Afterward, the staff had towels, water, and smiles waiting for us, which made the whole return feel personal and thoughtful. It was the kind of service that makes you want to come back before you even dock. I’ll absolutely book again when I return to Costa Maya!

Due to previous weather, the clarity of the water wasn't ideal and this was presented to us. We were given the option to go out and see for ourselves whether or not we wanted to continue the excursion. We decided to continue and the guide was great! We saw some beautiful fish and other ocean life. It was just our family so we had our own personal guide. He went out of his way to dive down and point out hidden crab and other hard to see beauties!

Caesar was an excellent snorkel guide. He was helpful & patient. We had a private snorkel experience, just my sister & myself. The reef was teeming with beautiful fish. We even had the opportunity to see a sea turtle grazing on sea grass!

A good snorkel tour with a family, the seven of us had a boat to ourselves with our own guide. She was very patient with the children, a great experience all the way around.

We started the excursion with some hesitation due the overall look of the water and smell but ended up being one of our favorite adventures. The water where we got on the boat was filled with seaweed, had an horrible smell and very murky so we didn’t know if it would be a good place to snorkel. The tour guide definitely proved us wrong by taking us to an area where we were able to see some of the most beautiful fish, sea urchins, and corals reefs. We loved every minute of our snorkeling. A must do and value on cost.

This was an awesome snorkeling trip! Cesar was a great guide. I have snorkeled a lot of places but he pointed out things I’ve never seen before. We enjoyed every minute of it. He even filmed us and the fish we saw with his GoPro and sent us all the pictures & videos after we left. Our boat captain Jose was great too. Everything was smooth and everyone was nice and helpful. Don’t hesitate to try it!

Nice staff, good instructions, easy to find and priced accordingly, but the snorkel itself left much to be desired. The "reef" and available snorkel sites just off the beach in Mahahual is limited and not great. I am grateful this was not expensive, as I would not recommend snorkeling right there in the beach area. Not much to see.

This was an amazing experience!! The staff made you feel comfortable and took the time to guide us to the areas of the reef that were most desirable. The time allotted for the excursion was just perfect and we saw a wide variety of fish including squid! Thank you Doctor Dive!!!

We had an amazing experience with Cesar as our guide! We came here off a cruise and were advised by family to only go on excursions through our cruise line but decided to take a risk and booked this tour because we wanted a smaller experience. I’m so glad we did! My partner and I lucked out and were the only ones on the tour that day! We saw two turtles, a wide array of tropical fish, he took lots of pictures on his go pro of us, and had a great time. We ended up doing a snorkeling day at our second destination through our cruise line and it was fun but very crowded and just not the same experience. Definitely recommend! Also we had fun hanging at Yaya beach club after. Really good vegan tacos :)

This was a fabulous experience. Dr. Dive was professional and easy to work with. They made sure our entire group stayed safe the whole time. We saw many many different, vibrant, fish, a sea turtle, lobsters, and so much more. Strong recommendation!

Good tour. On our day the water had perfect visibility. The reef was nice but not spectacular. It was worth the money. 10 minute ride to cruise port. Cost was $8 single or $4 per person

Cesar and his captain were both amazing!!! Very easy to get to Dr dive by taxi and we were given clear instructions on how to snorkel for our first time. It was a private boat for just me and my friend! The water was absolutely beautiful and we felt safe the entire time. Cesar even took a great video of the coral reef and us snorkeling. We saw TONS of fish, a ray, sand dollar, and a living conch!!! Could not recommend this enough and tip well, the service was amazing!!!

Alberto and the team at Doctor Dive were great. It was a very windy day, and they communicated early that we might not have a perfect experience and gave us every opportunity to cancel but also said they were more than willing to take us out, especially as we were only there for the day as it was a port call on a cruise. In the end, they moved our time a bit and took us out, and we had a great experience. The shop has a very chill local dive shop vibe, and all the staff are great. We will visit them again for sure!

Antonio was amazing. Very knowledgeable, friendly, and an excellent instructor. I highly recommend Dr. Dive and Viator. Everything was exactly as promised, and it was incredible getting to see the Meso-American barrier reef up close!

The Doctor Dive shop is easy to find and very close to the cruise ship terminal for taxi pick up both ways. We had a wonderful hour in the water seeing tons and tons of sea life and it left us wanting more! Personalized small group… so if you like snorkeling in a private setting away from all the tourists, pick this excursion. Plus the price is excellent!

Great price and the guides were awesome. I am glad that we had a Spanish speaker with us though because while waking to Dr Dive several people tried to get us to come to their snorkel places haha. He was able to speak with them in Spanish and tell them that we already had reservations

So many fish to see. Our guide brought some things from the ocean fire for us to touch. The water was warm, making the swimming easily comfortable, even for the kids.

Our ship got delayed so they canceled on us. Their boat was obviously sitting right there and could have been taken out but they would not take us. We walked down the beach and found another group to take us for the same price and had an excellent time. We understand that they can’t control a ship’s docking time but neither can we

We had a great snorkeling experience with Dr. Dive on what ended up being a private tour just for the 2 of us. The guide was courteous, fun, easy to get along with, and stroke a great balance between safety (one of us is a non-swimmer) and fun. Had a blast and would totally recommend them to anyone looking for snorkelling in Costa Maya!
