Hicham was a wonderful and engaging guide. Besides learning Cologne's history, we had a great time discussing many topics. When I suddenly overheated in the Cathedral he took great care of me and my wife. He went out and brought back a candy bar to help me recover. He then waited until I felt better and then showed us the rest of the Cathedral Highly recommend Hicham.

My guide (Madalena) was friendly, personable and in constant communication with me before I arrived in Cologne.
She shared great stories about the city, its history and herself.

This was great, it was basically like a private tour with a friend showing you their city. Carlos tailored the day around what we were telling him and what we were clearly interested in, and modified along the way as we got excited about things - such as having to deal with me running into the Hard Rock Cafe because I had to have a T-shirt. It was exactly the tour we wanted.

Dirk did a fabulous job of showing and explaining to us the top sights. We started with the Roman roots of Cologne, then progressed through the beginning of construction on the Cathedral. Dirk is super knowledgeable about the important sights in Cologne and as we parted ways he walked us to recommendations for restaurants. Super nice guy with a good sense of humor AND smart!

Carlos was such a wonderful and thoughtful guide. It was great to hear his perspective on the life and culture of his beautiful city. He kindly met us right at the place our Viking River Cruise docked and then made sure we had the local brew and dinner at a quality brauhaus versus the tourist traps that abound. We came in on a Rhine River cruise and Dirk met us for a 3 hour walking tour of Cologne. It was a fabulous introduction to the 4th largest city in Germany. We saw Roman ruins, visited the beautiful catholic cathedral, wondered the old city and learned about Cologne’s history. I highly recommend this private tour. Dirk is very knowledgeable.

I was lucky indeed to gave the scholarly Dirk as my trusty guide. He gave me a full historic perspective of the city from an important Roman colony to the building of the awe inspiring Cathedral, one of the highlights of our Western Civilization. 90% of this beautiful city and most of our historical artistic master pieces were destroyed by the endless, wanton bombing of the city losing tens thousands of innocent lives and irreplaceable artistic treasures. A great war crime then and certainly now but lost to allied victory.

Lokafy allows travellers to connect with locals, and learn about the city from their perspective; things like: what it's like to live there, advice on their favourite restaurants and also connecting on a personal level. From your review, it seems that our Lokafyers followed our guidelines. As they are not professional tour guides, we do not require Lokafyers to have a detailed knowledge of the city’s history.
