Jhon gave my brother and me an amazing experience in Cartagena. He took us to some great food spots while also showing us different places and sharing stories that really brought the history of Cartagena to life. I truly appreciated his hospitality, knowledge, and the way he made the tour feel personal and engaging.

Carlos was fantastic!! We got to meet him right on time, and walked Getsemani and the walled city. Got a lot of knowledge about history of the area and the food we ate, and he was able to keep my 15 year old son very engaged the whole time as well! Because it was private we had some flexibility in some of the things we got to ask about and see. The food was incredible, his history knowledge was incredible and he was so kind and thoughtful throughout the whole time. We even sent him some messages after we departed asking for help and he immediately provided recommendations and advice.
Nic was AMAZING!! He was so sweet and an absolute pleasure. The places we stopped to get food was so delicious. I would definitely recommend this tour.

We enjoy taking food tours because if we are lucky not only is it a food tour, but a tour sharing the history of the area as well. Mario was very knowledgeable about the food, traditions and history of Cartagena and answered all our questions.

Jhon contacted us via WhapsApp when our cruise ship docked to say where to meet him just outside the terminal. He sent a pic of himself and that made it easy to identify him. A driver took us to the Old Town and Jhon had lined up some food vendors to sample different Colombian Foods. My favorite was the fresh fruit and the yucca rolls. We strolled around the streets of Old Towne and Jhon gave us some history and cultural lessons. The streets are narrow and charming with very colorful buildings and lots of flowers. This area is totally different from the modern high-rise area of Cartagena. Lots of people trying to sell their wares but having Jhon with us kept them at bay. Jhon knows many of the locals and has a very good rapport with them. He has studied English and we could understand him well.

I wouldn’t pay for this experience at this port. I’ve done these food tours all over the world. Not worth it here, everything available and many choices around you… in terms of “street food”

Be aware this is somewhat misleading in terms of information and description. You will not get a food tour like you would get elsewhere, like those offered via Viator in other cities around the world. It is essentially a long walk to visit sites in the old city. Our local tour guide did an ok job with that. But in terms of food, it is lacking in quantities and variety, and lacking too in any detailed food or gastromic insights. And it was all pretty much improvised. Foodwise, we ended up with only a few samples, and very basic stuff at that (empanadas and pantacones) ...and a small box of pre-prepared coconut sweets at the end. When I look at pictures past participants took, I feel we did not have the same experience at all.
Our tour guide Manuel did his best, but clearly, we deducted, he did not have much resources for us for food, certainly compared to what could be expected with what we paid for such a tour. Not sure what Viator and the local tour company (Grand Columbia Tours ) did with most of our money ? Viator, this is not comparable in that price range to what you offer in terms of food tours elsewhere in other cities ( even at lower prices in more expensive countries! ). Please be careful and do not advertize a food tour at this price range with such misleading information.

We were on a Virgin Voyages cruise. The meeting location sent to us was Pier 3. After much confusion we found that you have to go outside the port terminal to meet a tour that is not booked thru the ship. The terminal is a huge choke point, especially with 4 cruise ships in port. Plan on at least 15-20 minutes just trying to get through the crowds of slow walking people. Then there were hundreds (so it seemed) of taxi/your drivers but no single location to meet a tour. We spent 30 minutes trying to locate the tour guide but never found him. No tour!! At least the company responded after a few exchanges and agreed to refund our money.

Katerine was our guide and we enjoyed meeting her. It was difficult to find her but we were able to communicate on WhatsApp to locate her location. She had a driver pick us up and take us to Getsemani. She walked us around and provided commentary, but it was well over an hour before we had anything to eat. In total we were offered: 1 beer, 1 cup of fruit, and a fried plantain with cheese with a Powerade. None of these stops were inside. None provided context about the local food. It felt like a walking city tour and not a food tour. We arrived hungry - expecting to eat a lot, as we have on other food tours. But this was not the case. We were then told that our driver was double booked and needed to pick us up early which was disappointing. I asked about Colombian coffee as I expected it to be a part of the food tour. She said she could take us - but then we were expected to pay! I've never had this happen, and she didn't explain up front that it wasn't included.
I had the tour operator reach out the next day asking for feedback. I provided the same feedback to her, and unfortunately they didn't offer any explanation or compensation. I would not recommend this food tour.

Unable to go on excursion. No one answered the phone, that was on the reservation. No one answered the texts that we sent. The workers at the port did not understand the meeting point. The workers on the port tried calling the number that was listed with no answer. The company supposedly texted me after and said the driver was waiting for us. Now, I am requesting a refund and they are denying. Waste of money and time

The meeting point was clearly stated, and to make it even easier, we provided a Google Maps image to guide you directly to the location.
Unfortunately, the lack of communication stemmed from the absence of a WhatsApp contact on your reservation. In high-traffic areas and during busy times, WhatsApp is the most reliable tool for immediate communication, as traditional calls often face interruptions or delays.
We deeply regret that you were unable to enjoy the excursion, but we hope this explanation clarifies the situation. Should you choose to book with us again, we will ensure everything is perfectly coordinated for a seamless experience.

Fabian was great. So knowledgeable and took me to great places for locals. I got to see a different side of Cartagena. My favorite part was eating ceviche at the corner ceviche stand with a circle of chairs and locals all enjoying delicious ceviche.

Katherine was extremely kind, spoke excellent English and was extremely knowledgeable. I ended up with a private tour since I was the only English speaking participant. She offered to take photos, and told me about all of the food that is a must try.
Separate from the tour guide, be aware that when you get into the walled city that performers will just start performing in front of you and expect a tip. Politely say no gracias and keep moving. There are many people selling food and drinks, hats, umbrellas etc. just be polite and keep moving. Also don’t make eye contact with anyone you don’t want to come up to you. The palenque ladies look beautiful but photos with them are not free. It was overall a great experience with a lot of great photos to take. We also saw a baby sloth in a tree which was very unexpected.

Aldaberto was a great guide and we felt we were seeing a bit beyond the touristy stories. He knows everyone and is very polite and well spoken. It was very hot and he pivoted and we took a car with air conditioning to Getsemani.

Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly and made this tour really enjoyable for us. This is more of a history tour than a food tour but we were still full by the time it ended. Beware coming during late spring and summer because it could get very hot and humid. Not advisable for people with mobility issues since this is a walking tour

This isn’t a good tour it is a history tour. You get snacks along the way. Honestly eat before you come and maybe do the one that is cheaper. This didn’t feel worth it at all. Not only did we not get food it was exhausting as we stood I. The heat to heat history facts. Had we known this was not a proper food tour we would’ve booked something else. Maybe this is good for travelers who will not go out I their own and need a push for some guidance. Wouldn’t recommend for young travelers. It felt like a water of money and a waste of time

The tour was inclusive of several neighborhoods . Since it was private we stopped at a Cigar shop and grocery store. Our guide Fabian was incredibly knowledgeable and kind, took group photos , offered so much history and Insights into life in Cartagena. I wouldn’t consider it a food tour, we had a empanada, a piece of candy and split pieces of fruit into 8 servings. I’d call it a walking tour w snacks and eat prior . Usually food tours you leave stuffed, definitely not the case here.

We had an amazing tour with Raul as our guide. Raul had a wealth of information that he shared with us. Snacks were great - authentic. This was a great way to learn about the Walled City.
