We had a fabulous day with Alejandra learning about the various local rums, tasting great chocolate and delicious street food! We were greeted by Gesu and taken down to the tasting room. He was the perfect person to greet us! We were then joined by Alejandra to begin our tasting. We tasted 8 rums, plus a rum cocktail. Alejandra educated us on each one, where it was distilled, how it was distilled , general info about the distiller and how the locals drank it. We paired some of the rums with chocolate - the chocolate was delicious and truly changed the taste of the rum. We also had some pairing with local street foods, seasoned sweet peppers (I ate them all), this wonderful cheese ball with the local version of sour cream and then the tastiest meat ball ever. It was truly an event and one we would do again. Alejandra then took us down to the store where we did purchase both rum and chocolate. My husband also got to taste great Colombian coffee. Alejandra made sure we were safely back in an Uber to the port. Top tip if coming in on cruise ship plan to leave the port about 30 minutes prior to tasting and take an Uber, vary reasonable and if your driver is good you will get some history of the area!
