We thought we were safe booking this JANDT Colombia tour with Viator, as we have had many positive Viator tours. This was by far the worst tour we have ever booked with Viator. If you wish to book a tour to the Rosario Islands, book through your hotel or the beach resorts in the islands directly. We booked this tour through Viator and a representative, Dennis, from J and T tours reached out to tell us that we wouldn’t be able to go on the normal tour because it was booked up. Instead, he offered a tour that had an open bar, cabanas (see pictures he sent us), towels, and lunch. We agreed to this alternative tour in good faith. When we arrived, we weren’t greeted with a drink or towels or a cabana or an open bar. We were greeted with hot, empty beach chairs and told that we had to pay for towels and drinks. The VIP section above had an open bar, cabanas, and towels, but we were informed that our tickets were for a classic ticket only (no towels, no alcohol, no cabanas). We spoke with others from our boat and a staff member from the beach resort. We were informed that we had paid 30% more than the price of a VIP ticket and had received a classic ticket. I messaged with Dennis and asked him to fix the situation but he kept saying he was confused even though he was communicating in English very clearly. We had to have a kind, bilingual friend of ours call Dennis, our tour operator. Despite my messages, he kept saying he didn’t understand the problem and was confused. As soon as our friend threatened to call the police and report him and his company, he dropped the facade and agreed to fix our tickets. He called the beach resort and changed our tickets to VIP so that we were given all of the tour inclusions we had been promised. This situation took almost an hour and by the time we were admitted to VIP, all of the cabanas were taken, except for the ones in the back next to the giant subwoofer and out of the view of the beach. We did not find this experience relaxing or luxury. Please do yourself a favor and do not book with this company.

Hello Ivy, Thank you for your feedback as always we will use it to improve our service. We are very sorry your experience was not as we usually do 5 starts, please allow me to give you a explanation. You booked a trip to Gente de Mar, however as you noticed, the tour was confirmation pending since that resort it self is not longer available. For that reason we contacted you and provide you the information about the new place and showed you the photos; in this case, the tour was correctly booked by the system and gave you the correct ticket, I (Dennis) sent you the wrong images and description due to be overwhelmed working with 4 groups (30 people at the same time). As soon as I realized the mistake, I fixed it with the operator and the service was given. We never had any conversation about police with the person on the phone who was so understanding and helped to expedite the process. We would also let you know that every experience you book through TripAdvisor will be more expensive due to they charge their commission which is from 25% to 30% depending on the agreement between the company and TripAdvisor. We will never overcharge a customer. As you can evidence in our profile we are a very legit company that operate in the entire country and also in 2 countries abroad, sadly on this opportunity a human mistake resulted in a very disappointing experience. If you visit the country in a next opportunity please contact us directly, we will be glad to provide some courtesies for you and your group.
