Overall great tour - highly recommend!! Went with my mom (38F, 63F). Pickup was timely, drive to Rio Secreto was quick. There was a bit of waiting while the guides figured out the groups but we were told we'll be doing the Rio first and then go to Coba. The group was small for the caves and Diana was our guide. Diana was absolutely incredible - patiently helped my mom through the rough terrain of the cave and through swimming in the cool water so she was able to enjoy the activity despite being uncomfortable in water. The caverns are a must-experience, they are stunning! A small Mayan ceremony and a toast with Xtanbentun is included, both were very nice! The only issue is the photos: While I understand no cameras are allowed due to distractions/safety etc. the friendly photographer made an effort and got fantastic pictures and then we were extorted for $30 per photo, which we refused to pay. If the photos had been $10 per picture, we'd have probably spent $30-40, so lose-lose situation all around. The photographer worked for nothing and we didn't get any pictures of an incredible experience. Buffet lunch was good with fresh tortillas and drive to Coba was smooth. In Coba, our whole group took the rickshaw option (additional $11) which was good, and Diana was very knowledgeable about the ruins and culture. Main pyramid was closed to climbing (which would have been awesome), but we were told it should open soon. I liked Coba because it was cool to see the ruins within the jungle. Drive back was much longer (3hrs back to Cancun) as we got unlucky with the group needing to be dropped off all around the Riviera Maya but the driver was super nice and apologetic that it took so long (no fault of his). 12hr total trip despite the long drop-offs, well worth the price! Would highly recommend this tour for the whole family, and Diana as a guide!

From the heights of Coba to the underground of Rio Secreto

Action packed day of adventure from the heights of Coba to the depths of Rio Secreto. Great day and a fantastic variety to go from Coba to Rio Secreto. Jorge was a fabulous tour guide with good knowledge, excellent English and obviously loves his job. Be prepared for an active day of walking, cycling, climbing and under ground spelunking through uneven terrain. It was a memorable day for sure!

Awesome excursion but one important note

The Rio Secreto - Coba trip was great. Our guide Diego was tremendous. The logistics all ran perfectly. One important note - you must be agile and sure/fitted to get to the Rio Secreto. They assured me I would be able to do it - and I could not. My son went ahead and enjoyed the experience but said there was no way I’d be able. He is a healthy 19 year old and even struggled at some points. Coba was awesome and there are rickshaws available with lovely drivers if you need mobility help. Overall, great trip, just go in eyes wide open if you have any sport of mobility issue.

Worth going if you like history and exploring fresh water caves

Amazing sites, not particularly welcoming to tourists from the United States.

Coba and Rio Secreto are very impressive. Our tour guide, Jen, was very kind, knowledgable and gave a very informative tour of the ruins and caves. Rio Secreto is a must see and a great way to escape the heat. We do not regret either destination. I will say our day was dampened by the feeling that we were mostly just tolerated because we are from the United States. I understand, given recent policies but it was a bummer to hear employees and our Coba driver complain about us in Spanish right in front of us, unaware that I could understand most of what they were saying.

Amazing experience!!

Amazing experience. A bit scary at first but I’m glad I did it. I cannot swim and I was able to do this activity with my family which also includes a 10yr old. Guide was super knowledgeable and friendly. Coba tour was cool also but it was hot because we went I July and I was dying for air conditioning. Lol. But it was great and I would do it again.

Great day

Great trip.. loved everything.. one small thing.. you can't take photos in Rio Secreto.. but you can buy them after for price of gold bricks..

Passing on what you need to know!

Bring water and breakfast to start the morning! Don't get water or snacks until Coba part, lunch in-between. You will go to Rio Secreto first then Coba, it's cool! You have 4 routs, joy, supreme, palace, enchanted. They provide water shoes. Bring dry clothes. If transport from Cancun you will not get back until after 6pm! They drop off all the way back to Cancun in order of highway back. Bring a hat! You will ride bikes all the way into Coba ruins and back. If cannot ride a bike they have other forms for a ride that is comfortable. If want to buy anything in US at coba Bring pesos, cost less in pesos!! Bring tip money for all the van rides you take(4 total, 2 long , 2 short) If have kids definitely bring extra food and water!! It's an ALL DAY EXCURSION! George was awesome, super social and funny! He was great, ask for him!!
