I was not expecting to have as much fun as we did on this trip! I loved that they gave us a bag with food for us as well as a cooler with drinks, extremely refreshing for the hot weather! We loved seeing Los Coloradas and learning a bit about the salt. We absolutely loved the boat ride and clay at Rio Logartos. The food we had for lunch was extremely delicious as well!

Van ride was 3 hours x 2 with no air conditioning. There was a metal spike sticking up in the van that stabbed my pants and leg. My mom fell and required stitches. However, the tour guide, Dolphino was great and helpful.

Loved the crocodile farm and the boat trip. Need a guide that gives more information. 3 - 4 hours on a bus is a long journey and it would have been nice to receive some facts about the area

The Pink waters, Rio Lagartos, Crocodile farm, and lunch was very nice but the transportation to and from Las Coloradas was not good & that is why we give it only 2 stars. The touring company crammed 18 people into a small 14 person van and a car for the 3 & a half hour drive to Las Coloradas. We made one stop along the way for a bathroom break, that bathroom break was a spot that required payment to use the bathroom, it would have been helpful to let people know ahead of time that the stop would require payment. Then the drive back to the resorts took an extra 2 hours, again in a crammed van, to drop off people who were in the car. The van did not need to travel the extra 2 hours and could have gone straight back to the resorts, to drop people off. That long of a drive in both directions should have been done in a tour bus with better accommodations for the travelers, i.e. more leg room, comfortable seats, an actual bathroom, etc. The boat ride included time to "enjoy an exfoliating scrub with clay from the salt lake" and a swim, but emailed instructions didn't include a suggestion to bring a swimming suit. We actually thought we chose a different excursion, so we didn't bring one to our disappointment.

The lake was definitely pink! The boat ride was nice but would like to have seen more animals. The crocodile farm was good. Had fun feeding and holding the different sized crocs. However it was almost too long of a day.

Pink lake was great, but there were over 40 "lakes" to visit however this tour included other pitstops so we were focused on the closer lakes. if you want a 1/2 day trip of just all the lakes you will want to drive yourself there and then take the tour offered by the Pink Lake crew (las coloradas). As a first intro, it was great, the boat ride was fabulous, and we really just had a great day. Hope you will too :)

Overall, excellent tour. Yes it was a long day, and yes the bus got cold. Our tour director Pablo was excellent and learned all the groups of people who were traveling my name and gave all information in both Spanish and English. Research the pink lakes before you come, some people didn’t realize it was a salt factory and were disappointed. I recommend wearing your swimsuit to the tour so you don’t need to change for the boat ride, which I loved! Breakfast and lunch provided a lot of food, but I do recommend bringing extra water and snacks.
The ONLY downside to this tour was the crocodile farm we stopped at as our third activity. It was a small facility that seems to exist only to fascinate tourists. Everyone got to hold several croc babies and the workers were just throwing them all over people’s shoulders nonstop. We went into the croc enclosure to feed them, and several workers waggled sticks in front of the crocs to entice them to move. As a animal lover, it was hard to watch. I may have booked a different tour if I knew we would stop at the croc version of Tiger King. I wish we had done something different, or simply started for home.
ALSO, if you want to be on the bus as short a time as possible, get picked up in Playa del Carmen!

We did the Las coloradas and Rio Lagartos tour but were a bit disappointed with the organisation of the tour.
The stop at las coloradas is meant to be just for one spot to take a few pictures but not to visit the entire area. It's basically to get to the gate. In our case they were extracting salt on the day meaning you couldn't see anything at the gate so we were given the option to go on a bus tour within the salt complex where the pink lagoons are. We had to pay extra for this which i wasn't thrilled about since it wasn't mentioned in the description. The tour inside was nice and explained all the process and why the lagoons ar pink etc so would recommend that but this wasn't given by our tour guide. It was given by the yours at Las Coloradas. On a regular day i don't think you would even get that option and that was the best part.
If you're going to see the flamingos there's very few of them. Like 40 max and they're very far away, bring a good camera.
The boat ride in Rio Lagratos was nice, there's also a mayan body scrub experience so of you're planning on taking part in that bring a bathing suit.
We also visited an alligator farm and it was nice to see that they are repopulating the area. Wasn't keen that the teenage ones had their mouths tied for people to take photos with them. Younger ones don't bite yet it seems and the older ones we saw from a distance.
The drive is very long and very tiring. Obviously this has nothing to do with the tour company but just a heads up.
We didn't have a tour guide to explain things and at times we had to ask what is next so you end up relying on asking people where you stop around what is happening.
On the bright side the bus was comfy and had reclining chairs, they gave us food in the morning since the pickup was at 6 AM and they figured we wouldn't have eaten breakfast.

I think this trip would be best if you were staying in the Yukutan region, otherwise you're looking at a 5 hour drive from Cancun. This was not noted.
We waited approximately 30 minutes for another party to arrive, outside a store, where we told we could use the restrooms...the store manager did NOT let us use the bathroom.
The "breakfast" supplied was a piece of lunch meat and cheese between 2 pieces of white bread, a small apple, a kids' juice box and a piece of gum...definitely not what we expected. Had we known, we would have been sure to eat prior to departure.
While Las Coloradas is beautiful, we would have loved to have someone share some knowledge about how the salt mining works, processing the salt, etc. All it was was a photo opp, which was not worth the drive.
The boat ride was nice, and the restaurant we had lunch in was really great.
The gator farm was also great. We learned a lot about the gators and participated in the experience.
Then we had the 3.5 hour drive back (the boat ride took us closer to our final destination).
In the middle of this, they did stop for a bathroom break, which we had to pay to use.
While the experience was memorable, we would not do this excursion again.

Unfortunately, the most memorable experience was a five hour van ride to the site and the five hour ride back to the hotel. Once we got there, it was quite enjoyable however, this amount of travel was not disclosed, and I felt like my day was wasted. Actually, towards the end, I felt like I was in hell. There were no bathroom break. The seat was cramped and very uncomfortable. There’s no way to make the ride more enjoyable, we were told to sleep is no way to sleep in that van. Low air conditioning and no refreshments frankly no one should have to sit in a vehicle for 12 hours a day I would never recommend this to anyone.

The tour itself was short. We spent most of our time picking and dropping off people. We changed transportation 3 times going there. They picked us up at 5:55 am and dropped us off at 9:00 pm we are all tired and hungry. BTW, the tour guide doesn’t know how to guide people don’t speak English my husband and I ended up doing the tour on our own we just get information from other people at Los Coloradas. Overall not recommended.

Crocodiles were the highlight of the day. The pink lakes are also very nice. The boat ride on the river was fun and we got to see a lot of birds, flamingos and crocodiles.

They provide none informational background or give any explainations what so ever. It's just a trip for getting the best instagram pictures. If that's the only reson, go for it. But if you want to experience cancun and mexico in it's full glory search further. It's sad because the trip definetly had potential

This trip was kind of a mixed bag experience. There was some good and bad to it. It is not a trip I would repeat.
We were picked up pretty early which I understand since it is a long drive. We were given a standard bagged breakfast of ham and cheese sandwich, apple, granola bar, and fruit juice which was okay. Then we sat on the bus while the driver and the tour guide got off and ate breakfast themselves at a cafe while we waited. I thought this was very unprofessional.
It turns out the pink lagoon is a business. It is a natural salt manufacturing plant that, yes, is located in a biosphere but the advertising of it seems misleading. You pay to see a salt plant. It is more of a pink pit not a lagoon. This was very disappointing.
They do take you on a boat ride which is nice since you do get to see flamingoes in their natural environment which is pretty awesome and this part of the experience was wonderful. 5 stars for this.
The lunch at the restaurant was also 5 stars. Some of the best seafood I have had.
The alligator farm was "okay". Pretty much like most alligators farms you go to. Neither extremely bad nor outstanding.
I wish there would have been a little more talk about the biosphere. They did talk a bit about how the lagoon got its pink color. I would have liked a little more history about the salt gathering before some rich guy took it over.

The practice of salt harvesting has been carried out during the Mayan era and was marketed as a valuable natural resource of the region. The whole tour was stunning. Definitely worth while. Guide was client centric and very welcoming. Pink waters, crocodiles and flamingos, boat trip to Rio Lagartos, lunch in a local restaurant, the journey was more than interesting. Just make sure the weather is sunny to see the pink waters (if cloudy or rainy, the waters turn to grey). 👌🏻☀️

We were picked up from our Cancun hotel at 6am and dropped at 2am - unthinkable 20 hours inside a tiny uncomfortable poorly conditioned van stuffed with tourists like sardines! We had a total of 3 maximum hours doing tour activities, the rest of time was spent driving to various hotels of Riviera Maya, Playa del Carmen to pick up and later drop people, sometimes one at a time. I believe we have driven to 12 different hotels which took hours and hours! Las Colorados is totally overrated - this lagoon not entirely natural, the waters in a manually shaped square pool were mixed by owner, and were light brownish color. Lagartos park was unimpressive and flamingos were so far away from the point we stopped to observe them we barely saw pink dots.
I believe I have lost a day of my vacation: Instead of having fun I was suffering all day in a stuffy vehicle and did not see or experience anything special.
From now on I will be dubious about descriptions of Viator tours, no more trust.

A very interesting experience. The pink lake is scenic but just a photo opp. You can pay the tax is Pesos which is $300 MXP per person. The boat trip through Rio Lagartos was the majority of the trip where we saw crocodiles and walked through mud to see flamingos. This was the exciting part of the trip. After a stop at a resturant to have some lunch, the last part of the excursion was to a crocodile farm which wasn't specifically mentioned when we booked. People were allowed to hold small crocodiles and feed the larger ones as well as take pics. However we were wondering about the morality of doing so and welfare of crocs in the enclosure. The guides said very little and were more like shaparones than infirmative tour guides. The worst thing about the trip was the long journey in a cramped bus. The mini bus was too small for so many people on such a long journey. We travelled over 4 hours non stop back to our hotels others were still on the bus fir a further 2 hours. The driver could have taken comfort breaks along the way even if it was for 10 minutes. Overall the experience was great but the way the tour is run could be improved to be more comfortable for the participants.

Unfortunately, I was put on the wrong tour in an overcrowded van (there were 2 more people than seats) for 16 hours. We went to Las Coloradas (pink lake) and boat ride on Rio Lagartos but also stopped at a Crocodile Farm where I never would have signed up to go to. Guide gave little to no information. Someone from Viator did call me while we still driving back to Cancun to apologize.

On the other hand, the person who called you was not from Viator, he was the general manager of Top Travel Connection, authorized operator for the southeast area of Mexico, who upon learning of what happened personally called you to offer you an apology and authorized to give you a 100% refund and also authorized to offer you a free transfer to the airport on the day of your flight back home. Two stars gave to the contents and site crews. However the organization was poor and the tour guide was horrible. 1. The tour guide Pablo was rude and has zero knowledge of solving conflicts. On the bus the ladies in front of us almost laying on our knees and all he did was ask us to lay back. Like what? 2. The tour is supposed to be bilingual but 90% of time he spoke Spanish only. A lady ask him to explain things in English as well. Of course no response. 3. He basically didn’t provide any useful information for the whole tour. Many people have no clue what’s next and where to get off the bus. The bus ride is 4 hours one way. A respectful and reliable tour is very important. I won’t suggest anyone to book this tour especially with Pablo if you don’t speak Spanish!
