No show tour guide

The tour operator never showed up despite me calling to confirm the Day before. I called viztor to get refund s d they would not issue. I got a message saying call them directly which I did and wasted an hour of my vacation time. I will now be forced to. All my credit card to dispute transaction

Good Experience, just annoying moments overall worth it.

The first Shaman stop feels scammy. They have a shaman speak Mayan do a five minute ceremony and then you’re left to look at the gift store. I wish we didn’t do this. They took photos prior and put those photos on alcohol bottles to sell to us. Didn’t tell us beforehand could’ve not wasted their time by just asking who wanted one prior. Chichen Itza was good. The center was amazing and we had ample time to explore 2 hours. I would’ve preferred to spend longer at the cenote though. Also, the constant tip suggestions is kinda old either pay your employees more or raise the price of the tour. It’s clear tipping culture from America is trickling into Mexico, but not everyone is American.

Amazing love the pyramids...

Elizabeth_R, Aug 2025
Amazing love the pyramids not so much the humidity but overall amazing would definitely come back again

We were delivered back to...

Monika_Y, Jun 2025
We were delivered back to our hotel hours after we were supposed to be dropped off since we had to go out of our way to drop off other tour members.

Tour guide spoke very little English, only understood a few words here and there. Tour made a stop that was not on the itinerary making the entire trip more like 15hrs. Once on the bus they upsold us for things I thought were already included like drinks. Air conditioning on the bus blasted making it unbearably cold.

Never Showed Up!

E_J, Nov 2024
They never showed up to pick us up. Waiting on the refund. We will be reporting this as fraud if a refund is not issued.

Great experience

Lilia_P, Sep 2024
This was great excursion! Our tour guide Robert was very knowledgeable. The drinks were passed out to us throughout the entire ride both ways. The only two negative things I have to say is that the drinks could've been passed out more frequently (because I am a drinker) but it's not really a bad thing, no one got drunk, and by the time we got to Chichen Itza (it was our last stop) we had very little time to explore because the park closed. That was definitely a bit disappointing.

14 Hours of Pure Joy!

Angie_F, Aug 2024
By far the best tour team I have ever had!! Luggie, Marcos and Sammy made this trip unforgettable! We paid $95 which included pickup, lunch, drinks and 14 hours of pure joy! This was with Lilly Company.

Chitzen Itza excursion.

Slow Motion Tour of Mayan lands, And Not In A Good Way

Mel_S, Jun 2024
I wanted to enjoy this tour. I was so excited to show my husband the amazing Mayan city. However, our bus was 20 mins late picking us up, with no communication and we were the first to be picked up. Next our tour leader (didn't get his name due to the rambling in Spanish) spoke so much, and so slowly, it seemed like our tour was in slow motion. Not only that, I thought I booked an English speaking tour, but he spoke in Spanish 75% of the time. So much so, that at one point I had to yell out, "I don't know what you're saying" and my husband started to tune him out all together, which caused him to miss pertinent information. The tour leader even told the bus that he didn't repeat information, so if we weren't listening, or if we were sleeping, oh well. The most disappointing part was once we got to Chitzen Itza, we stood in one place over 20 minutes while he rambled on in Spanish and passed out pictures. I watched as other groups stopped, clapped at the entrance, and moved on over and over. He would just say, I'm almost finished. Some of my group, obviously antsy to move on, just started to walk away, myself included. When he finally moved from the corner, I could see there was rain coming. I watched as vendors frantically packed up their goods yet he continued his snails pace. At this point I walked away again towards the Warrior Temple, but it was too late. The heavens opened up and we had a downpour I'd never seen before, and we had to find cover where we could. My husband, frustrated said had he sped it up, he could have seen more, and we had to make the drenched walk back to the bus early. I understand the guide can't control the weather, but he should be able to read the room and see the group getting antsy, walking away, not understanding him, and the rain coming. I feel like we lost what little time we had there due to his arrogance. The stop at Valladolid was pointless. We got off the bus for 20 min and he pointed out a church in case we wanted to take a picture of it. The 2 stars are because of Marco our onboard waiter, the cenote swim and lunch. Marco was great! He was very helpful and attentive. The cenote, beautiful, and we loved having the opportunity to experience swimming in a cenote. Outside of that, I wouldn't suggest this tour with our tour leader (I dint know his name because he mumbled and rambled on incoherently). If it were a Spanish/ English tour (not what it said when i purchased) then he should have said everything evenly, not the vast amount of conversation in Spanish. The experience was extremely disappointing.

Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback about your recent tour experience with Mayab Travel Tours. We sincerely apologize for the issues you encountered and the frustration they caused. Your experience does not reflect the high standards of service we strive to provide. We regret that the tour bus was late in picking you up and that there was no communication regarding the delay. Punctuality and clear communication are essential, and we will address this issue with our transportation team to prevent it from happening in the future. We are also sorry to hear about the language barrier and the tour guide's delivery. It is important to us that our tours are accessible and enjoyable for all guests, regardless of the language they speak. We will review this matter with our guides to ensure that they provide balanced and clear explanations in both Spanish and English. Your feedback about the tour guide's slow pace and lack of engagement has been noted, and we will provide additional training to ensure that our guides can effectively read the group's mood and adjust their pace accordingly. We understand your disappointment with the time spent at Chichén Itzá and the unfortunate timing with the rain. While we cannot control the weather, we agree that the guide should have been more responsive to the group's needs and the impending rain. We will emphasize the importance of adaptability and responsiveness in our guide training. Regarding the brief stop in Valladolid, we aim to offer a glimpse of the city's charm, but we will re-evaluate this part of the tour to see how we can make it more meaningful and engaging for our guests. We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed the cenote swim, lunch, and the service provided by Marco. We will pass along your compliments to him. We deeply regret that your overall experience was disappointing and did not meet your expectations. We value your feedback as it helps us to improve our services. Please contact us directly at your-email: contacto@mayabtraveltours.com with your booking details so we can discuss this further and find a way to make it right. Thank you again for your feedback and for giving us the opportunity to improve. Best regards, The Mayab Travel Tours Team

Good day trip if you’re looking to get out of the resorts

Nicole_C, Feb 2024
Exploring the ruins of Chichen Itzá and swimming in the cennote. The drive is long but the tour bus was comfortable for the most part. The food at the buffet was decent. Overall a good trip for anyone looking to explore Mexico outside the resorts.

Not great for young crowd and very boring

Animesh_D, Dec 2023
The tour brought us at Cenote very late 5pm - the time when the Cenote officially closed. We didn’t enjoy the Cenote at all

Too long if you’re leaving from Tulum

Massilia_A, Mar 2022
The tour was good, and our guide Javier was wonderful. The only thing is I would not recommend this tour to anyone leaving from Tulum since they drive us to Playa del carmen to take a bigger bus which adds a total of 2 hours of driving to a already long day

Chichen Itza Tour

Steve_D, Mar 2020
This was a very long tour. We were told 11 hours which turned out to be almost 14 hrs. The cenote was the highlight but they gave us too much time to shop at the flea market and did not communicate well how much time we had to swim and eat. I don't believe it was mentioned that the life jackets and lockers were not included in the price of the tour. Chichen Itza was interesting but with our large tour group it would have been helpful to have audio sets as 90% of the time we couldn't hear the tour guide. Guide was good but repetitive. Was surprised and disappointed with all the vendors harassing you within the site.

Decepcionante

Adrin_P, Feb 2024
