My visit to the pyramids and the ancient tombs was an unforgettable experience, made even better by my guide/photographer, Omar, a knowledgeable Egyptologist who brought every site to life with rich context and fascinating stories. Walking through the tombs and standing before structures that have endured for thousands of years gave me a deep appreciation for the history, beliefs, and daily life of ancient Egyptians. I’m so happy I came.

Spent a very good day travelling to Memphis, Saqqarah and Giza. The pick up was on schedule, and we didn't waste any time heading out to Memphis. Yasmine was very knowledgable and had answers to all my questions. The quad was plenty of fun (even though we drove past a few carcasses on the way to the dunes).
We did make an "unplanned" stop at a carpet school, but I made it clear I wasn't going to buy anything and we were out in less than 5 minutes. I would have rated 5 stars, but this is just plain misleading and bad practice (and relates to other reviews).

I wish I could say this was a great experience, but unfortunately what I paid for and what I received were two very different things.
I booked and paid for a private tour. I was picked up by a private driver from my hotel and taken to a meeting point, where we waited approximately 30 minutes for the guide to arrive. When the guide finally arrived in a separate vehicle, my driver followed him — and it became immediately clear that the guide was traveling with six other tourists.
Upon arrival at the pyramid entrance, I was informed that the tour would be shared, not private as advertised and paid for. We were instructed to buy specific entrance tickets, which the guide then collected. We waited another 10–15 minutes while the guide negotiated with security before entering.
To be fair, the guide was knowledgeable and experienced, and the historical explanations were good. He also took nice photos of each participant once we entered the plateau.
However, several issues followed:
• The camel ride was clearly tiered based on extra payment. When I declined to pay an additional $20, my camel ride was noticeably shorter — not even 30 minutes. The handler was very rude and demanded a tip afterwards. When I declined based on his attitude, he got upset and my guide in turn tipped him himself.
• Our guide “suggested” we buy souvenirs from a specific vendor, and when I tried to browse other sellers, the guide followed me and insisted I only buy from the first one. I later realized this was likely due to commission arrangements.
• Quad bikes were never offered or available, despite being mentioned.
• The visit to the Sphinx was brief and from a distance, after which the tour of the pyramids ended and we were rushed into a vehicle and taken to a pappyrus shop. I had already been there, so our guide again “offered” to call my original driver so that I can “go to lunch and relax” whIle they shopped.
What upset me most came afterward. When I reviewed my credit charges, I noticed I had bought a ticket as if I had visited the inside of the pyramids which we did not. I contacted Viator, who said they would investigate with the local operator, Nice Tours.
Unfortunately, the tour operator misrepresented what happened, and Viator accepted their account despite evidence. I was refunded only 30% of the original tour costs, which I find unfair given that:
1. I paid for a private tour and received a shared tour
2. Multiple advertised elements were missing or altered
3. I was led to buy tickets for something I did not do
I’m deeply disappointed by how this situation was handled. If you book through Viator, be very careful to confirm the operator, and I strongly recommend avoiding Nice Tours altogether. I also strongly advise future travelers to be cautious of VIP add-ons presented on-site, as declining them results in reduced experiences.

Travelled to Cairo for work, with a couple of colleagues. We had some free time, so booked this experience as it seemed to be one of the more expensive options, which we hoped would provide a more up-market and curated experience. The Tour operator is Nice Tours.
The communication seemed reasonable, as the tour operator contacted us via whatsapp the evening prior, requesting hotel location and room number, which was duly provided.
After rising nice and early, the driver messaged us notifying us that he was delayed due to traffic. He arrived 45 minutes late.
We went outside to look for the driver, and noticed a small grey car which was very much past its prime, and joked "which poor bugger is saddled with that one?". Alas it was us. This was not an auspicious start!
The driver was friendly enough, but the car was far from acceptable. It was dilapidated, dirty, and the seat belts in the rear didn't function, which is not good if you are familiar with Cairo traffic.
I immediately contacted the tour operator via whatsapp, and received no response after several messages. I called them also, and my call was dumped each time after a couple of rings. This level of customer service is unacceptable.
We drove for 20 minutes, and picked up our guide for the day. A friendly lady with the name of Jasmine. She unfortunately had to squeeze into the tiny rear seat with two other adults for the 45 minute drive to Saqqara. To her credit, she understood the suboptimal conditions, and tried to contract the tour operator.
We arrived in Saqqara, and was informed by Jasmine that she has arranged for a replacement vehicle. Although we were left wondering why the tour company felt it was ok to give us such a bad quality conveyance, particularly given the high cost of the tour. The tour included Saqqara, Memphis, Giza, Camel riding and quad bikes around the pyramids. All was great fun.
Carmen our guide seemed to lack real insight in Egyptology, and seemed more interested in ushering us quickly around the sights, and paid more attention to her phone than us. Her verbal presentations were robotic and seemed to be an often repeated script, which didnt really provide us with any real information. What was worse was she seemed very intent on getting us to give everyone tips, and towards the end of our trip, suggested that due to the trip being longer than planned (caused by the late pick up), we will need to pay the driver a big tip, otherwise she would have to report the over time to the tour operator, who would then charge us. This was clearly not exactly factual, and designed to extract every last cent from us.
All in all, the activities were terrific fun, especially the camel riding and quad bikes. However the quality of the tour fell well short of our expectations, particularly given the premium price we had paid. I note that the entrance fees are not included, which we knew about. But the point is that we expected much more for 100USD/person.
To be fair, we did finally receive a response via whatsapp from the tour operator that evening, expressing that they changed the car.
The positive side is that everything was arranged, and facilitated, making the day convenient and wide ranging.
The negative is that the quality of the vehicle and tour guide was well below acceptable quality.
My overall impression is that it was simply not worth the money. Caveat Emptor!

Omar gave us a comprehensive tour of Saqqara and ensured we saw and understood the background to the pyramids and tumbs. He then took us to a wonderful restaurant for local folk which was very good value for. Money. Ghandy was an excellent driver. Highly recommended

This tour is budget-friendly, but it’s very hands-off: we were taken to the main spots, given a quick explanation, and then the guide would disappear until the next meeting point. The guide didn’t accompany us inside the pyramid either—if you want to enter, you do it on your own while the guide waits outside. We were also taken to several unrequested shop stops, and after the guide got out, the driver tried to add his own shop detours as well.
That said, the bike tour part was genuinely enjoyable and ended up being the highlight for me.
Unfortunately, the camel ride was the opposite. Halfway through, the camel handler asked for a tip on the spot. I gave 400 EGP, but he got angry and insisted it should be 600 EGP because there were three of us. We had a child on the camel, and the situation felt tense enough that I paid the extra amount just to avoid any risk and end it safely.
It was a surprising and uncomfortable experience.

We had an amazing all day experience with our tour guide Omar! He explained the history of the pyramida, brought us to papyrus school and to try perfumes and finally to sakkara to explore several tombs. Truly an amazing day with the best guide!!

I booked the excursion advertised as private, with a personal driver and guide. Given numerous feedback indicating that the excursion had shifted from private to group format, I immediately contacted the provider to reconfirm it would remain private, receiving multiple assurances to that effect. At 00:20 on the day of the excursion, I was informed via Whatsup that our guide had canceled, and we would need to join a group. I categorically refused and insisted on adherence to the agreement. Until 03:00 that night, they claimed to be searching for a guide, only to state that none was available anywhere in Cairo—a claim that is difficult to believe. As I had already purchased online entry tickets for all sites along the tour (valid for a specific date and not inexpensive), I requested at minimum a private English-speaking driver to facilitate communication. They agreed to this arrangement. In the morning, a young man (Nubi) greeted us at the hotel—courteous, well-mannered, and fluent in English—sent to accompany us, as the driver did not speak English. Nubi made tremendous efforts to ensure our comfort, though he stated himself that he was not a guide but rather the agency's representative. Thus, we visited the sites independently, without a guide or information, crammed into a small private car: ourselves (3 adults), the agency representative, and the driver. I am grateful to Nubi and the driver for giving their best to somewhat mitigate the unpleasant situation, but I consider the agency unprofessional and unethical. I would not recommend this excursion or provider to anyone close to me.
