Felt like time share sales

Appreciated the guidance on where to go, what to see and the history. But the emphasis on sales was a bit mutch. The Giza pyramids felt rushed o ly to end the day very early because we asked to skip the "shopping" experience that was not listed on the itinerary. Guide was a bit pushy about going shopping and we just wanted more time at the pyramids... which we didn't get anyway. When we expressed we wanted lunch, he kept saying "whatever you like... but in truth he just forced us to go to the buffet that noone in the group wanted to go to. More marked up sales. A lunch that should have been 200EGP cost us $15. We also said no to the camel ride, but again, very pushy on sales and again, the upcharge... we paid 1200 EGP each. Again, too much. Guide only lets you buy souvenirs from his marked up vendors and gets mad if another vendor approaches because they sell the same items for 1/4 the price (no mark up). The entire thing is a miney grab by the guide. Because we were finished way too early, we ended up shopping at the end anyway... and yes, its a scam. One in the group bougt oil for waaay too much. When she opened it a few days later, it had zero scent. Scam all the way around. Its sad because he was a good guide. But he emphasized on how he could make the most money, not your once in a lifetime experience. Would not use again. Pyramids were of course, amazing regardless.

Fantastic trip to the Pyramids of Giza, followed by the oldest pyramid at Saqqara and the open air museum at Memphis. Our driver skilfully navigated the chaos of Cairo traffic, providing us with delicious Turkish coffee and frequent stops for bottles of water. Our guide was super helpful and full of information. On our booking we requested no camel ride and no shopping, this was thankfully honoured. Lunch at The Valley of the Kings restaurant was tasty and plentiful in beautiful surroundings. Highly recommended trip.

Pros - The guide (Mahmoud) was on time. - He was engaging and cheerful. Cons - He tried to set us up with camel and horse riders despite the fact that we really didn’t want it. However it was an experience and we liked it. - He took us to a papyrus institute saying they sell the best papyrus. But the fact is these papyruses are factory made and the same is available across the Egypt. I regret spending 1000 EGP there when I could have got the same for 300 EGP. However I’m not 100% sure if there’s anything I’m unaware about the quality. - Also we felt his knowledge is probably not that deep when we met other guides. He wasn’t able to respond questions regarding the excavation for Pyramid of Huni. Probably because we are history buffs and we have studied it a bit. But the tour as a whole package it’s a must and should never miss it.

Seeing the pyramids for the first time a wonderful thing.. Our guide was in Italian.. Houssam... Fantastic spoke to my wife in Arabic to help her.. Punctual and kind.. typical lunch very good .. In short, in the price all the service offered was worth it all .. Even the driver too nice on the way back offered us a typical drink .. Truly a beautiful and historic day of pyramids
