Our guide Sebastian was very knowledgeable and prepared for our tour. I never knew that Romania had the third largest Jewish population in Europe.

Radu was an excellent guide, a retired chemical engineer, who knew much about the history of his country.
Antoinette_D, May 2025
Our guide was very knowledgeable. He made the tour because he was born in Bucharest and had so much of his life to share. It is too bad that there isn’t more offered on Jewish history in Bucharest compared to Budapest, Poland and Prague.

Only one of the three synagogues was open. The guide tried to compensate by driving around. He was friendly and knowledgeable. Overall, it was overpriced.

Thank you for your feedback. During the tour we were informed that everything did not go as we would have liked. Unfortunately, some of the sights were not opened due to a religious holiday. We apologize for this situation and are open to refunding you part of the amount paid.

This was the best guided tour I have ever taken. The guide has deep knowledge of the subject and explained what I was experiencing very comprehensively which was exactly what I hoped for. Highlights were arriving at the Great Synafogue during the procession of the Torah and visiting the Yiddish Theater. The guide was very straightforward in discussing Romania's role in the Holocaust which I respected. This is a deeply moving tour.

The tour guide Radu was wonderful, so knowledgeable about all things. The synagogues were great, we didn’t enjoy the Jewish theatre quite as much.

Radu was fabulous. He was incredibly knowledgeable about Jewish history in Romania. He took us to the few remaining synagogues in Bucharest which are unfortunately closed right now due to the current situation in Israel. We spent a lovely half hour with Marcel finding out about the only theatre in the world that has plays done entirely in Yiddish. We very much enjoyed spending time and learning about Romanian Jewish history and culture. We highly recommend Radu.

The tour never happened; they had no guides so they refunded the money. The website could have had it as unavailable.

Dear Jene,
You forgot to mention that you booked the tour at 7:30 in the morning for the same day at 10 am.
In the future, we suggest that you make reservations at least 24 hours in advance.
Thank you.

We toured Jewish Bucharest with Radu in early September. Radu drove us from site to site, telling us a lot about Bucharest and the Jews that lived there and the current Jewish community. We went to the currently active synagogue, the Jewish History center in another no longer functioning synagogue, the Yiddish Theater and the Holocaust Memorial. We drove through the old Jewish part of town and had lunch at an Israeli-type restaurant.
Radu was full of information but let the curators of the various sites fill in much more information.
Even if you are not Jewish, this tour lgives you a chance to see what Bucharest had been like before WWIi.
