Vlad III, the Prince of Wallachia, was born sometime between 1428 and 1431, probably in Sighişaora, Transylvania. His patronymic, ‘Dracul’, means Dragon, derived from the membership of his father, Vlad II Dracul, in the Order of the Dragon, an order of chivalry for the defence of Christianity in Eastern Europe against the Ottomans, so the young Vlad became known as Dracula, or “son of Dragon”. Our guide Toni contacted us the day before the trip to confirm the trip time and pick up point. He collected us on time. His car was modern, comfortable, clean and airconditioned, it was a hot day. He proved to be a knowledgeable guide taking us through the 3 monasteries and a palace at our own pace while explaining their histories. The whole trip took just over 4 hours. We enjoyed the trip very much.

Just book it, it’s worth it!

The monasteries were gorgeous and it was very cool to see the similarities/differences in architecture across different time periods. We went on a Friday so everything was open to walk around. Our tour guide Tony was phenomenal! He was very knowledgeable about the topics, gave us time to take lots of photos, and was very easy to talk to. He was also very accommodating and took us to a coffee shop for drinks when we mentioned being sleepy. We loved him so much, we booked him for a second tour with him to take us around Bucharest. He even gave us Itinerary tips for the rest of our 2 week trip. Would highly recommend you book a tour with Tony!!

Excellent small group trip with a friendly group of people. Matthew was a great guide. The Monestry and Palace were both worth the visit, but please take cash for entry to the Monestry and you will need to pay extra if you wish to take photos inside in both

Great tour with a great guide!

We had such a great time with our guide Tony. He is extremely knowledgeable and provided a lot of interesting facts about Romania in general as well as the Monestaries we visited. I particularly was very interested in the transition of Romania from Communism to being a Democratic government and he answered all my questions. Tony speaks English very well and is an excellent and careful driver. He does other types of tours as well. Both my friend and I would highly recommend hiring him to see the sights around the country.

Excellent day

Well-organized tour. History, architecture, museums, art, culture, masterpieces, countryside, sunshine and blue sky. We came back to Bucharest to visit especially these places. Our guide, Serban was a perfect guide. He is helpful, informative, open-minded person. He does his best to feel yourself better and better till the end of the trip. More than perfect experience. We really enjoyed it.

Emil the tour guide is EXCELLENT! He’s a local celebrity having appeared on a local TV show for many years. He really knows his history. Gabriel, the van driver, is an excellent driver. We did the private tour for just the 2 of us. Definitely the way to go. We even stopped at a local eatery and had had mici for lunch! Highly recommend this tour to get a great background on Vlad Tepes/Dracula.

Not to be missed - excellent tour with a great tour guide

Fabulous day with an incredible host. Toni was the perfect guide - he was: communicative in arranging pickup; exceptionally organized; considerate of our needs; and, provided the right amount of history. This was a great way to spend our day! We’ve done a lot of Viator tours … this is one of the best. Do yourself a favor … this tour should be on your ‘Must Do’ when visiting Bucharest.
