Itinerary

Meet your personal driver at Beijing International Airport and travel by private, climate-controlled vehicle to the Mutianyu section of China’s Great Wall.

On route, hear snippets about Mutianyu from your driver. Dating to the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), this beautifully restored segment snakes across wooded mountains, making it one of the most scenic sections. It’s also famous for the 23 densely spaced watchtowers stretched along its 1.8-mile (3-kilometer) expanse.

After roughly 75 minutes, arrive and follow your driver on foot to the wall entrance. Then, opt to travel up and down from the ramparts by cable car or to ride the cable car up and toboggan run down (both own expense).

On the ramparts, enjoy time to explore independently. Stroll the wide battlements, stopping to view the watchtowers and parapets along the way, and absorb the far-reaching mountain views.

After about two hours, descend and travel on to a local Chinese restaurant. Savor traditional dishes like kung pao chicken (spicy chicken stir-fry), and if you wish, use the restaurant WiFi to share photos via your mobile.

Your tour then finishes with a drop-off at Beijing airport where your driver will help you find your flight check-in counter.

Everything was as described in the tour conditions. Driver was very friendly, also his English is very good. Pickup and return to the Airport was OK, at the Wall he waited for us as long as we needed. The Wall itself was a great experince, we enjoyed it. Recommended!

I had an absolutely unforgettable time when visiting the Mutianyu Great Wall, which included lunch. I had a 21 hours layover before setting off to Tokyo, Japan. I was picked up from the Airport promptly by my allocated driver, who was polite and accommodating. I slept during the journey to the Great Wall, so can not mention any amazing sights on route. We arrived at the Great Wall, parking in the allocated carpark. I was taken to the ticket office to get on a cable cart ticket up to the actual wall the cable car is an additional cost, so ensure you have money on you. The 'tour-guide' remained and I caught the cable car alone therefore, I walked the Great Wall alone. The cable car really isn't for people with a fear of heights, which I don't have but I was still very nervous whilst on it. I believe the cable car journey is approx 5.5mins. The weather was 'foggy' but the views were still amazing. The majority of the section of the wall is not flat. You'll be required to walk up and down steps, so if you've skipped leg day in the gym, as you'll definitely get a leg workout here. However, would not be suitable for the elderly or those with knee problems. Lastly, the food to a local restaurant was superb. The staff were extremely welcoming. The food was extremely tasty and fresh without the MSG taste I can now longer eat Chinese in UK unless its of the same quality as this restaurant.
