Our guide was wonderful and very accommodating but it was not at all pleasant to go on a walking tour in pouring rain and wind.

My guide, Vito, was excellent. He was friendly and respectful. I have some mobility issues - Vito was patient and helped me navigate the stairs. He has a vast expanse of history so was very informative.

We liked seeing the castle and Trani but would have enjoyed the tour more if we were given free time to explore on our own rather than just listen to the guide and then leave. The tour started with Vito being 15 minutes late then we had to stop and put gas in the car. He controlled the air in the car by rolling the windows up and down and didn’t ask us about our comfort level. He turned the radio on in the car but again didn’t ask our opinion or preference. He was also on his phone a lot. It all felt very disconnected. It was difficult to have a conversation with him and his answers to questions were brief. Sadly, we didn’t enjoy our tour experience.

We love our guide Itanata. She was friendly and knowledgeable. Itanata asked us what we wanted to get out of our tour and she delivered. It was so much fum to see the CdM and visit Trani. One of the highlights was lunch with her at a very nice seafood restaurant. We look forward to coming back to Italy and doing more tours with her.

It happened to be a holiday when we visited this lovely port city of Trani, so we got to see a marching band and fireworks - first time we ever saw fireworks during the day. Natalia, our most knowledgeable guide, told us a lot about the history of the area as well as the wonderfully preserved 13th century castle. I highly recommend this tour.

The best way to see these sites

This is the best, and most efficient, way to see these sites. We were in the company of our travel guide, Vito, who took us through the Italian countryside directly to Castel del Monte where he gave is context and appreciation of this monumental building. He then took us to Trani where we saw the papal buildings and the magnificent cathedral--unfortunately closed for renovation. The exterior however was awesome particularly since it was built along the seafront, and has a spectacular setting. Do go and get Vito as your tour guide--you'll love the day outside of Bari.
