Your tour departs from the Columbia Icefield Glacier Discovery Centre; tours depart every 15 to 30 minutes, and your ticket is valid for any departure on the day you select.
Climb aboard a specialized ice explorer, an enormous, rugged vehicle built to handle the glacial terrain. As you travel through the largest icefield in the Canadian Rockies, listen to your guide's informative commentary. Pass sights such as the Weeping Wall, Crowfoot Glacier, Peyto Lake, and Bow Lake on what is widely considered one of Canada's most scenic drives.
At the Athabasca Glacier, hop out and walk along the glacier, where you can even fill up your water bottle with pure, pristine snowmelt.
On the return trip, stop at the Glacier Skywalk for refreshments and walk along the glass-bottom walkway out over the cliff's edge. Then, back to the ice explorer for the final drive back to the Discovery Centre.

The Columbia Icefield was absolutely the highlight of our vacation! What an incredible and unforgettable experience—the views were breathtaking, and being on the glacier was truly amazing. I only wish I had more time to enjoy and explore the glacier!

Our glacier tour was canceled due to some incident and refund was promptly issued. We went on the skywalk part of the tour and it was great!!

Well worth it!! The ride on the glacier was amazing!! We had a beautiful day and great weather! Highly recommend!

Be aware when booking this your that one needs to account traveling time from whatever place you are staying, depending on that it’s more like a 9-10 hrs experience. We could not make it fir a couple different reasons. The tour guide never reached out to us with any details or follow up. We got refunded in the end.

Walking on a glacier was cool. The ice crawler ride was fun. The glass bottom bridge was interesting.
Regina_A, Aug 2026
Excellent opportunity to walk on a glacier. The tour was very organized and efficient but does take about three hours to complete both the glacier walk and the skywalk. The discovery center is lovely with lots of choices to eat, Starbucks and lovely bathrooms.

Beautiful and stunning views. Learned about glaciers and a must-do bucket list destination. Our guide was absolutely the best and has 50 years of experience. Name the upcoming lake as Lake Chris!!! ;)

So interesting with a lot of information from the hosts. Chris is an experienced and knowledgeable professional and navigating the ice transporter.

It’s easy to get to, meeting place is in a lovely
Visitors center, ran on time and works for people of all ages and abilities. You take a coach bus across to meet the ice bus, transfer and that bus takes you up onto the glacier. The drivers were very nice and personable, and the time on the glacier (1/2 hr) was perfect. The skywalk was also amazing, there is a little walk from the bus to the vista, but you can stay as long as you like and hop on a bus back to the visitors center, which comes every 15 minutes. It was a special day and I highly recommend.

It was a long day from Calgary but it was worth it! Our guide, Kamal, made sure we were able to see all the best sights on the trip, and he got us back in time for our dinner reservations.
We ate at the Icefield fast food restaurant but the sit down restaurant looked very nice and other travelers in our group said the food was delicious.
Our guide to the glacier was funny. Getting to walk on the ice and see it up close was so amazing!
Overall a very good trip.

Very cold and windy. Be prepared..worth the cost. Drivers try to tell more jokes than other drivers.

Great experience to learn about the icefield and glaciers in this area. Logan our driver provided lots of information and answered our questions

We highly recommend this tour. The trip to the Glacier is an unforgettable experience and the Skywalk was very busy but worth the trip. The guides at each step were informative and fun.

Wonderful experience, worth the hassle
Driver was knowledgeable, ice field tour worth every cent.
Love it
Rafael_D, Jul 2026
Loved both the icefield tour and the skywalk view. The only thing I would say is, I wish the icefield tour were longer and that the field was longer to walk on.
Jodie_K, Jul 2026
This was amazing! I just could believe that I was on an icefield. The skywalk was also so incredible! Would do this tour again but I would get to the Discovery center 30-35 minutes earlier due to parking.
helen_w, Jul 2026
It was an amazing, experienced, pictures like a postcard with the help of our smiling, lively and very accommodating tour guide Aashish.
What a lovely experienced indeed.
I highly recommend.

This was such an amazing experience I got to share with my family! Everyone was so knowledgeable and educated us in so many ways and my favorite part was riding in the ice explorers! Highly, highly recommend!
Diana_D, Jul 2026
BOOK IT!!! It was the most amazing, unique experience! There are only a few places in the world where you can drive onto a glacier and this is one of them! The ice explorer vehicle was so unique! Went a whooping 10mph and had 5’ tires!! My kids had a blast! Walking out onto the glacier was amazing! My husband did a cold face plunge and my kids felt how cold the water was! A once in a lifetime experience!
Manisha_S, Jul 2026
Excellent experience, reduce wait time for the tickets.
Secure spot at your schedule.
Recommended for all.
billy_h, Jul 2026
The parking situation is a train wreck. It’s took us 35 minutes to find a spot and missed our booked time. We were only able to see the bridge and had to miss seeing the ice field.
Paresh_S, Jul 2026
Very friendly and knowledgeable guide. The glacier experience and the skywalk experience was amazing. Well worth it.
Haimanti_U, Jul 2026

Amanda_B, Jul 2026
The tour was organized and the tour guides were very knowledgeable. We really enjoyed our experience!
Joshua_J, Jul 2026
Stole my money. I booked this trip on July 4th at 2:50 PM in Montreal for 2:15 on July 5th.
They charged me for the 2:15 PM trip in July 4th. They stole my money. I did t receive a response to emails or virtual agent correspondence. Was left on hold for over an hour when I called and then line wa disconnected. This is a sham. I would give zero stars if possible
Tony_G, Jul 2026
It was a beautiful drive getting to the Icefields, and it was sort of a once in a life time experience to be standing on top of a glacier where it all starts.
Carol_M, Jun 2026
It was a cold and rainy day….but the rain stopped just before our tour. Logan was an excellent guide and we enjoyed it immensely. It was a bit slippery on the glacier - wear good traction. Overall it was a lovely 2 1/2 hours on a rainy day.
