Excellent day spent -ride from Banff was beautiful and this glacier experience very unique. Skywalk was interesting but just for a short time. Lots of great stops on the way to or from, don’t miss Peyto Lake! Snacks and drinks are expensive so bring your own if you can.

Remarkable experience. Not many people can say they've walked on a glacier or rode in a massive off-road vehicle up and down a steep mountainside to get there and back. Be sure to dress warm. It was frigid but worth it. Lars was our tour guide. He was fun and knowledgeable.

Climb aboard a specialized ice explorer, an enormous, rugged vehicle built to handle the glacial terrain. As you travel through the largest icefield in the Canadian Rockies, listen to your guide's informative commentary. Pass sights such as the Weeping Wall, Crowfoot Glacier, Peyto Lake, and Bow Lake on what is widely considered one of Canada's most scenic drives.
At the Athabasca Glacier, hop out and walk along the glacier, where you can even fill up your water bottle with pure, pristine snowmelt.
On the return trip, stop at the Glacier Skywalk for refreshments and walk along the glass-bottom walkway out over the cliff's edge. Then, back to the ice explorer for the final drive back to the Discovery Centre.

Very unique experiences...

Very unique experiences about going to the columbian icefield, walk on top of it and collect the source of water.

Amazing day.

Very well organised.. Just remember to check in at the desk first to have your ticket printed. Great guide, very informative. First you go to the glacier than to the glass walkway. We drank the glacier water it was amazing.

Amazing Columbia Icefield Adventure!

CHRIS_F, Oct 2025
What an incredible experience! Our tour guide was fun, friendly, and informative, and the driver of the large Ice Explorer made the ride up to the Columbia Icefield both safe and exciting. The views were absolutely breathtaking, and we had perfect weather with plenty of great photo opportunities. Everything was well organized. From check-in to boarding the Ice Explorers, and the meeting area was convenient with coffee, restrooms, and a gift shop. The Skywalk was also a highlight. Walking on glass and seeing the ground far below was thrilling! (I only wish those monster buses could drive us around everywhere — kidding!) A fantastic, well-run tour that’s not to be missed!

It was an incredible experience, and we had the most amazing guide, Leanne! Other than one supremely rude ticket taker at the beginning, every other person seemed to genuinely love their job and was so kind. Make sure to go to the ticket counter first and show them your voucher so they can give you your tickets. Also, the voucher doesn’t tell you, but they close the doors for boarding 2 minutes before your listed departure time so make sure you get there earlier. I don’t know what I was expecting but you will only have a small cordoned off section of the glacier to walk around.

Wrong address link in viator voucher!

Sherwin_T, Oct 2025
The tour/activity itself was awesome. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and fun!! I would have given it 5 star, bur we got lost because of the meeting point link provided by viator in the voucher. We wasted our time driving about 45min more! It completely ruined our schedule. Good thing, pursuit was very understanding and put us on stand-by. Viator, pls update your address link.

Great day!

Great experience, guide on icefield was very knowledgeable Just enough time at both icefields and skywalk

Lots of People

Alicia_N, Oct 2025
It was good to see a glacier and the skywalk had great views but on the glacier there are just so many people its hard to take pics and enjoy the experience to some degree. Also FYI this place does not play about time! We was 3 minutes late and a few other people were 1 minute late and the bus lady yelled at them so be on time.

Must do trip. Up and...

Manisha_S, Oct 2025
Must do trip. Up and close to glacier was awesome. My kids loved riding ice explorer. Guides were fun. Andy narrated an awesome fun story.

Allow plenty of time prior to departure

Kim_B, Oct 2025
Please allow plenty of time Tour leaves 1 min prior to departure time stated and you need to have printed ticket will not allow from phone. Because of this we missed our tour time and had to wait on standby for another 2 hours .

Columbia ice fields

Terry_D, Sep 2025
From Banff you have to drive about one and a half hours to get to the ice fields. We really enjoyed the narratives from our guides and it is totally amazing unique experience.

Great experience

Steve_G, Sep 2025
Cold and windy on top. Can get slippery. The view was great and our guide Brandy was great. The skywalk was beautiful.

Ice Ice Baby

Cindy_M, Sep 2025
What a wonderful experience! Don’t forget to bring warm gear… it will be cold and windy! The efficiency of the excursion was amazing!

Highly recommended!

Lina_M, Sep 2025
It's worth every penny! A very unique experience at the Icefields and the Skyway is amazing.Allow 2-3 hours for both experience

A Experience of a Lifetime Experience !

Dillon_H, Sep 2025
Wow is All I Can Say !!!! This was such an Amazing Experience tht most will never get to do !!! Would Totally Recomend it !!!

Fun access to glacier and skywalk.

Cynthia_S, Sep 2025
Dress appropriately in layers and wear appropriate footwear to walk on ice. And know there are no toilets in transit or during the time you spend on glacier. Thanks Jax for a safe trip!

Gorgeous scenery

Cari_M, Sep 2025
It was absolutely beautiful and very easy. There was not quite enough time at the Icefields to fit in both the Glacier Walk and the SkyBridge. There was no opportunity for food so make sure you bring snacks!!! Also it was much colder than expected and good waterproof walking shoes are needed for the glacier. The driver was great and all the little stops for a walk were lovely. We had a great sighting of a black bear who hung out and entertained us for a while.

Walking on a Glacier

Kerry_D, Sep 2025
This was such an amazing tour. There is truly nothing better than being able to walk on a glacier. We actually took our water bottles and filled them with glacier water. It was so cold and crisp. The Skywalk is also very nice and you are able to stay up there for a short time or a longer time. Buses run every 15-20 minutes.

Fabulous!

Kathleen_B, Sep 2025
Fabulous! The trucks are incredible, the drivers knowledgeable and witty, and the views… Amazing. Then of course you are walking on a glacier, and bring a container so you can collect the clearest, coldest water ever to drink. Wear proper footwear

Viator has the post code...

Rob_B, Sep 2025
Viator has the post code incorrect. You need to change it. Even people at the venue stated that all Viator guests have the same problem . Please correct it

Great views

Chloe_T, Sep 2025
Getting to see the glacier up close was a great experience. We took the big red snowmobile bus to the top, and it was quite noisy and dusty. It does go up a steep hill, and the experience overall was fun! However, some members of our party were disappointed that there wasn’t more explanation about the surrounding sights and environment on the way up. For the skywalk, we really appreciated the view, and there weren’t too many crowds.

Great experience on a glacier

Bo_C, Sep 2025
Great experience being able to walk on a glacier. We had Nick the bus driver and then Sam the ice truck driver. Both were very informative and knowledgeable. Staff obviously care about the maintenance of the glacier and not to damage it which was good to see. Overall great day.

Columbia Icefield adventure

Brenda_B, Sep 2025
It was a fun experience and our tour guide, Mitch, was very informative and funny. Be sure to wear the proper footwear. I do not recommend sneakers.

Viator wrong about ticket times!!

trish_d, Sep 2025
The experience was fantastic! What wasn’t fantastic is that the Viator site said your ticket works for any time that day. While technically true, it doesn’t mention you get put on standby and have to wait for a bus that has room for you. Get there 15 minutes before your tour starts!!!

Awesome Experience!

Heath_H, Sep 2025
Highly recommend the icefield tour! Our guide, Andy, was awesome! This was probably the highlight of our 9-day trip!

Icefields visit

Helen_W, Sep 2025
