Banff National Park offers mountain views unlike anywhere else in North America. Turquoise lakes, old-growth pines, and towering granite peaks surround a green valley filled with diverse wildlife, including deer, eagles, and coyote. Lake Minnewanka provides a beautiful place in the park to explore and discover some of these natural wonders.
Your cruise on the lake starts at the dock, a short drive from the town of Banff. On board, your guide shares stories of the submerged town of Minnewanka Landing and the people who used to call the surrounding area their home.
As the captain navigates deeper into the mountains, see if you can spot bald eagles hunting for fish or a black bear foraging along the shore. Reach Devil's Gap, where the boat pauses so that you can fully admire the scenery.
The boat then circles around and returns to shore where you will disembark back at the dock.
Please note: During the busiest part of the summer, boats depart every 30 minutes. During off-peak hours, boats depart every hour during the day.

We had an excellent time on the Lake Minnewanka Cruise! Our tour guide was amazing! Knowledgeable, engaging, and a great storyteller. It was a fun, relaxing day on the lake with perfect weather and stunning views. Getting tickets through Viator was easy, and transportation was smooth. We took the bus from downtown Banff, but there was plenty of parking available if you drive yourself. Highly recommend this experience when visiting Banff!

Will and Hayden did an amazing job on our cruise! Very high energy, informative and engaging. Started on time, weather was great and they took us closer to see wild life on the boat. Great experience and a beautiful tip.

Gorgeous lake, comfortable seating in boat. Our tour guide Maddie and Captain Emma added to our enjoyment with the history and stories of the ancient people first around the lake. We would do it again.
Easy drive from Banff. Wonderful, spectacular views. Loved the Minnewanka moment of silence. Tho would have like a bit more. We were lucky enough to hear a loon! Saw an eagle bur no other wildlife. Stopped at Two Jack and Johnson lakes driving back to banff. Matt and Vik did a great job. Thanks to Vik for suggesting sunshine gondola! We loved it.
We had a very good time on the Boat tour. The crew was very professional. Check-in was easy and the guide was very informative about the lake in the local area would highly recommend.

It was absolutely amazing. Captain Emma and Maddie (hope that's right) giving the history of the lake and telling stories but were they all true?

Short. Cruise, knowledgeable friendly crew. It was just a bit of a boring cruise to the middle of the lake and back, not the fault of the cruise company, there just isn’t very much to see that you can’t see from the lake side.
The scenery was beautiful and the crew was knowledgeable and fun. The chuck wagon ride was fun and safe. I would recommend it to all.

Lovely 1 hour lake cruise on Minnewanka. Water was serene and weather perfect when we went. Our guide Bella and Captain Brooklyn were the best. Informative and entertaining.
Very nice boat tour on Lake Miniwanka. Best way to see the back country of the area. Tour guide, Maddie, did an excellent job. She was informative and fun. The captain, Mat, was an excellent driver.
The boat holds about 2 dozen people so it is a comfortable aAsize. Everyone can see out of the windows and there is a rear deck to step outside and soak up as much of the natural beauty as possible.
The boat is enclosed so it won’t be too cold or wet.
Hayden the tour guide and Captain Matt were friendly and knowledgeable. Also excellent with children!

It was a rainy day . The staff was great . The tour guide Holly was funny and knowledgeable. The actual ride was just ok … Nothing spectacular
The view/Scenery is just amazing, we went during the 1st cruise time (9am) We got to enjoy the quiet time and truly enjoyed the lake and mountains! Pat and Emma are both wonderful. Very knowledgeable and great Captain!! Thank you both! Highly recommended.
Belle and Robyn the captain are the worst. I have never seen a more racist, patronizing group of staff that take a boat full of 50 people in a pontoon with no clear view of the lake and demean some folks who are immigrants ( very common in Canada) - Shame on them for running a supposed cruise with no real equipment or training
What gorgeous scenery! It was wonderful to see the views from the surface of the lake. We are grateful that we were able to visit this lake, which doesn’t receive the fanfare of other lakes.

It was a cute little activity. 1hr is not long enough to make it to see devil's pass, so that was a bit disappointing since thats what the description originally said. Regardless, the ride was still amazing, lovely views of the mountains.
The cruise was super cool. Learned lots about the area. The history of the lake was fascinating.
Holly and Cpt. Madeline were amazing too! There was a scared little kid on our cruise and they took the time to calm him down and tried to ease his worries while we waited to depart. Holly also later took a moment to speak with each person on the boat which made it all that more special.

Maddie and Madeleine were a great captain/guide combo. We learned so much about the area and how to enjoy the peace of this beautiful place. Not a great morning for wildlife, but that is always subject to weather, etc.
Pat and Bella were very friendly and answered all our questions. We learn about te native lore and about the wild animals in the area
The lake is beautiful so we thought the tour would be tranquil but it was noisy with the guide talking a lot and a few noisy children.
The adventure ofcthe lake and the atmosphere is so soothing and calm. It is one of a kind trip that you should not miss out
We learned about Lake Minnewanka's place in the setting of Banff National Park, while enjoying the company of our guide and our fellow passengers.
Even with a smoky haze we had a wonderful trip on the Lake Minnewanka cruise! Both our tour guide and our captain (both Madeleines) were fantastic and made the morning very enjoyable! We learned a lot and the ride was nice and smooth. We got to see a bald eagle and other wildlife back on the shore as well! Would recommend for all ages if you're looking for something a little different outside of hikes and bus tours!
