The tulip fields outside Amsterdam are at their best in spring, but reaching them—along with a working windmill, a traditional Dutch village, and a centuries-old church—requires transport and local knowledge that most visitors don't have time to arrange independently. This tour covers the tulip fields with the chance to pick your own flower, enjoy lunch in the village of Onderdijk near the Geradus Majella church, and a visit to a traditional windmill from 1633 to meet the miller.
- Visit a crowd-free tulip farm on this tour from Amsterdam
- Photograph tulip fields normally inaccessible to the public
- Visit a windmill, countryside villages, and enjoy lunch amid a tulip field

This was a great tour! Our guide was very nice and accommodating. We actually showed up on the wrong day and he took us anyway! It takes you to less crowded fields than Keukenhoff. The flowers were beautiful. The windmill was neat. There was plenty of time to take pictures and the lunch was a nice little buffet. I highly recommend this tour.

This was such a great tour!!! Small group, private fields with no other people around, and GREAT guides that knew all the information. Roel was fantastic and even explained the full cycle of a Tulip!!!

Wonderful trip to see the windmills, tulip fields and a lovely lunch at a restaurant on a canal. I highly recommend this tour. We had tulip farmers as our tour guides so it was informative This is a smaller bus and smaller group so it was a perfect day trip.
Anne_W, Apr 2026
The guides were incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. They had deep links to the industry being either retired tulip farmers or members of farming families. They picked the best fields to take us to, took pictures and answered so many questions.

This was a great trip and one I would recommend. We visited in late April 2025 and sadly don’t experience lots of tulips.
Great tour guide though and would recommend

The tour was good but their customer service was very poor. I left my jacket on the bus and I tried to contact them repeatedly to get it back but I didn't get a response. They should have a lost and found or something in place for such an eventuality. I would have gone to pick it up. Really disappointed.
Response from Host, May 2025
We’re truly sorry to hear your jacket hasn’t been found — we understand how frustrating that must be. After receiving your message, we immediately contacted the bus company and even visited them the same day to check. Unfortunately, nothing was turned in, and we also found nothing at our pickup location.
We also tried to call you back but weren’t able to reach you.
Please understand that while we do our best to help guests retrieve lost items, we cannot be held responsible for belongings left behind. In most cases, if something is found, we keep it safe at our pickup point for collection. Sadly, your jacket was not among the items found.
What’s especially disappointing is receiving a 1-star review despite our efforts. Our guide even followed the bus after the tour to help look for your jacket. We’re glad to hear you enjoyed the tour itself, which makes it more unfortunate that the review doesn’t reflect that part of the experience.
We truly hope future guests won’t have to go through similar situations — and that jackets stay with their owners!

Mike and Roel were incredibly welcoming, encouraging, and knowledgeable about entire process of tulips/ bulbs life cycle. Most importantly they knew how to find locations during the final days when few were available. Grateful to have even received photo tips and support so that we could have many memories of this special day. Service with a smile and a lot of patience. Who could ask for more? Definitely 10/10! The stop and chance to go into an operating windmill was an added bonus and fun to surprise myself and others when offered chance to climb to the top for an amazing view of the mechanics. Again - so glad to have included this particular trip on our amazing visit to Amsterdam. Thanks Roel and Mike for our safe journey

The windmill visit was fun and very informative as well as engaging. We were given the option to climb all the way up in the top of the windmill at our own risk. (we didn’t, but others did!) And of course the tulip fields were beautiful. We had plenty of time to wander and take lots of pictures.

Ruel our guide was a wealth of information, about the tulips and how to get the best pics!
What could have been super disappointing turned out ok. Most of the fields were being cut down however we were able to see several varieties. Lunch was superb! Perhaps the best meal we had in Amsterdam. The windmill was interesting.
Chris_M, May 2025
A wonderful day at the tulip farms. The tour guides know where the tulips are and know the farmers. The lunch was wonderful and the windmill interesting. Thoroughly enjoyed this tour.
Linda_M, May 2025
Only do this tour in mid to late April. This is a tulip farm visit, where they are growing tulips to develop large enough bulbs to grow flowers or sell bulbs. Lunch was good and the windmill visit wondrous. Our tour guide was ok, bus was brand new and very nice. Not my fave tour for the price.
Kanika_K, May 2025
Outstanding experience. Our tour guide is one of the nicest people I’ve met and he was extremely knowledgeable and kind.

My wife and I took this tour to see tulip farms and we got to stop and see 3 of them. It was late in the season (April 29th) so we drove by lots of fields that were already cut. However the tour guide, Roel, knew exactly where to go. Before the tour I wasn't that interested in seeing a working windmill but I must admit that I liked it alot. And surprisingly those were some of the pictures that got the most compliments from my family back home.
Pamela_B, Apr 2025
We visited 3 awesome tulip farms, one windmill and had lunch! It was a perfect day and. Very well timed!
Carrie_V, Apr 2025
Had a wonderful time on this experience! Roel explained everything we needed to k ow about the tulip fields. The windmill stop was enlightening, and lunch was delicious! Would highly recommend!
Karen_C, Apr 2025
So amazing! Even the rainy weather couldn’t dampen our spirits on this tour. Roel was well prepared for the muddy fields and supplied us with shoe covers. He took us to a few different fields so we could see tulips in various stages of growth and colours. The traditional lunch was delicious. Finally the windmill was awesome! We learned a lot about how they were used. Thanks for a great day!

A great way to see the countryside and actual tulip fields. Note - this tour does not visit the well known botanical gardens, but rather off the beaten track. Great lunch at a local restaurant.

Great day with Mike visiting the tulip fields! Mike was very friendly and informative. Lunch was very good. Highly enjoyable day.

One of the best tours we have taken! Guide was very knowledgeable and answered many questions gladly. The lunch was really nice in a very clean and quaint restaurant. Highly recommend this tour over other tulip tours we’ve taken.
Hetal_S, Apr 2025
We were taken to very beautiful fields
& was given enough time to take pictures.
But yes carry your own water- they don’t provide water on the bus
Steven_G, May 2024
Roel & Michael were the perfect guides for a perfect trip! Knowledgeable, funny and laid-back they shepherded us with ease through multiple tulip fields and the nerdly delights of a working 1650 windmill. And the tulips! We were lucky -- it was the very end of the growing season, but they knew exactly where to take us to see the very last (literally!) fields in the country. And the fields look even more stunning than you imagine - rows of multicolored blooms stretching off in the distance. Gorgeous! And the drive through the greens of Holland through immaculate and handsome towns & villages - what a great way to see it! Highly recommended.

Great experience! The windmill and fields were incredible, lunch was a great sample of some local food, and our guide was knowledgeable and made sure we had a wonderful time!

The bus was way better than expected, the tulips were some of the most beautiful things I've seen, and lunch was pretty good. We didn't have to deal with other groups and the guide took great pictures for us.
John_C, May 2024
Mike and Roel were most excellent tour guides! We highly recommend touring with them to see and understand tulip farming and the history of tulip growing.. The lunch and windmill tour and history were most excellent too. 👍👍

What a wonderful day trip into Tulip bulb field. Day full of excitement with visit to three fields and a windmill. Great team and guide. The lunch in a village was an icing on the cake. Highly recommend tour.
Gail_e, May 2024
We had a fabulous tulip trip weather was rainy but no problem. Michael was prepared with coverings for our shoes
The windmills were very interesting and the tulips were beautiful. We even went a little north to see more tulip gardens. Would lightly recommend

The lunch was excellent and the tulip fields were beautiful. It was truly a memorable experience, will be taking my friends on this tour someday!

We LOVED this tour!!
Roel is knowledgeable and funny. He also takes great pictures 😊
The lunch was delicious and lots of choice.
Small group lots of time to spend at the windmill and tulip fields.
Sara_H, May 2024
Finding the meeting location was a challenge. Usually, it is very easy to follow the booking directions to the meeting location and a guide is outside with a clipboard or some sign that they are ready for a tour. We saw the bus but nothing indicated that it was the tour bus so we kept walking trying to find the location. We received a call from the guide via WhatsApp, and were able to find the group they waited for us to arrive which was very nice. We missed a video that we should have received just prior to the tour.
The guide and tour were excellent. We enjoyed every stop, especially walking through and along three tulip farms. The ride was very scenic and lunch in a small town was another bonus. It was very helpful to have this tour before going to Keukenhof and other places on our own. We were very happy once we found the group! A real bonus was being the only group in every place we stopped including the windmill tour.
