Itinerary

Make your way to the meeting point outside Anchorage or, for an additional fee, request pickup.

Board the helicopter and enjoy birds’ eye views of some of Alaska’s most spectacular scenery as you fly to the glacier.

After touching down, meet your team of sled dogs and get ready for an exhilarating ride across the glacier.

Choose to stand on the runners and mush your own dog team or take it easy by sitting on the sled and letting the mushers run the team.

After your dog sledding adventure, there’s time to chat with the mushers about their lives and dog-sledding exploits and to take photos with the cute canine athletes.

The helicopter takes you back to the meeting point where your tour ends.

This excursion is one of the most memorable and overall phenomenal experiences I have ever had in my entire life! Do not be swayed by the price tag! I was hesitant but so thankful we pulled the trigger and booked this adventure, as it was worth every penny! The helicopter ride was thrilling, and once I quickly got past my initial fear, I was able to trust the pilot, relax, and enjoy the ride and spectacular views. Seeing and learning about the dog sled camp was extremely interesting, and going for a ride and driving the sled was both exhilarating and surreal. We added a lower landing stop on the glacier and spent time taking in the breathtaking beauty and Windex-colored blue water, which was yet another highlight of the day. I will forever be in awe of the beauty I viewed on the glacier, and will remember this entire day as one of the most incredible experiences I have ever had. I could not recommend this excursion more. If I could give it 100 stars I would!

Best experience i've had on any excursion i've ever been on. From start to finish everyone was friendly and polite. Ignore the price tag and do it! Take lots of videos and enjoy the breath taking views & watch the pups do what they love!

This was one of the most memorable experiences during our trip. Getting flown to the top of a glacier, meeting the crew and dogs, touring their summer camp and getting to mush with the pups was exciting and exhilarating. It was a bucket list adventure that lived up to the hype. If you are contemplating this adventure…I 100% recommend it. You wont be disappointed.

Our helicopter ride with Alaska Helicopter Tours was incredible, and a huge thanks to our pilot Shad for making it so special! He helped my elderly parents in and out of the helicopter with such care, found beautiful glacier pools for us to explore, and guided us safely through stunning views. We even saw a mama bear with her cubs from above! The ride was smooth, safe, and not scary at all—my husband, who’s scared of heights, loved every second and even sat in the front. It truly felt like the quickest hour ever. Highly recommend this amazing experience!

This was the most amazing experience! I highly recommend it. Pricey but well worth the price. Views are amazing from the helicopter and the dogs and dog sled ride was so much fun. We saw four bears, two moose and some mountain goats from the helicopter. Bring gloves, we didn’t and our hands were cold. Definitely a must do while in Alaska. Viator was amazing and the young woman Ashley that picked us up to drive us to the meetup place was exceptional.

Family of four. Excellent tour. Everyone was professional, business went over safety procedures, provided boots for walking on the glacier, a comfortable waiting area, timely in service, nice surroundings, and more. Helicopter flyer was epic, courteous, professional, safe, belted us into helicopter, helped us with headphones, adjusted seats for weight limits prior to flying, beautiful views, offered to snap photos of us, and where to step too in many areas. Dog sledding tour had champion dogs, dogs in training, and cute puppies. Dog sled person told us about championships won, records held, and more. Beautiful camp. Dogs were cute, playful, and looked well taken care of—wish we could take them all home. Made sure to tip the dog sled person and helicopter driver. Thank you for such an amazing lifetime experience. We snagged videos with our phone and pictures. Definitely a tour people should look into when traveling to Alaska.

Dogsled + Glacier + Helicopter = Epic Journey

The adventure started with a helicopter ride over a lush hillside where we spotting a bear barreling though the trees below us. We entered a frozen world of glaciers and icebergs that ranged from gray (from silt) to blue to stark white. We flew up the steep face of the glacier, landing at a remote outpost where we were told we stood on 40 feet of snow... and thousands of feet of ancient ice. Waiting for us were a pack of 12 very excited sled dogs, tails wagging, ready to run. After a quick lesson on how to steer and brake, we set off on a thrilling loop across the glacier. Wind in our faces, dogs in perfect sync, surrounded by endless white and mountain peaks. Afterward, we got to meet each of the dogs and learn about their personalities. I totally bonded with Peco. And the best part? Meeting the next generation—10-week-old puppies getting prepped for the trails ahead. One small detail that stuck with me were the faint lines in the snow. Our guide pointed them out and said in just a few weeks, they'd grow into deep ridges and channels—evidence of the glacier’s constant motion and snow melt. No words or photos can truly capture it, but this adventure will live with me for a long, long time. Great staff all around! Great communication!

This was thrilling from checking in to landing,. The staff were incredible. The pilot made us feel safe while explaining the glaciers. He pointed out mountain goats albeit they were white dots. The dog mushing was wonderful. We got to mush then exchanged to riders. An experience that we will never forget! The staff there were also wonderful. They explained about the dogs and we were allowed to hold puppies if we wanted. Would recommend this trip to any and everyone. A must do!

I had photos of helicopter on my big camera. It was such an Amazing experience. Our Pilot Adam was great and our musher was equally great. They’ve done this a hundred times and they knew just what to do and where to go. I highly recommend this adventure.

This tour was absolutely fantastic. The scenery was spectacular and the dogs so cute. Guides were very accommodating and knowledgeable. The helicopter ride was fabulous coming back through the gorge with its twists and turns. Definitely worth the money and highly recommend. Just fantastic.

Fog cancelled our initial booking, but helpful agent quickly rebooked us for the next day, which was perfect for both heli flying and dog mushing. Saw beautiful landscapes from above and met and learned about the beautiful sled dogs that gave us a great ride. Our 11 and 14 yr old grandsons got to take turns standing on the back to operate the brake at the guide's direction. Unforgettable experience and memories to treasure!

The entire experience was memorable! We had gorgeous weather, which only added to the experience. Josh was a great pilot, and we got to see a black bear on our way to the glacier. I loved that we could meet our dog sled team (and the puppies) after our excursion.

This was the most amazing experience of our trip to Alaska! Seeing the mountains and glacier from above was a view we will never forget. Our dog sled guide, Isaac, was incredible and taught us so much about the Iditarod and his dogs. We loved every minute of it!

Just WOW! Dogsledding and a lower ice glacier landing (do this!) was insane. Highlight of my 15y/o trip for sure. Great staff and always felt safe with this being my first helicopter experience.
