What are people saying about Alaska

An amazing experience and would happily do it again!
This was an absolutely phenomenal experience. Vessna and Anika were amazing guides!!! They literally offered so many unexpected items so that you'd be ready to ride as comfortably as possible from rain jackets and pants to offering to store or carry your personal items. The equipment supplied was comfortable and well-maintained. It was a great 5 mile one way ride in a light mist to the hike point. Vessna was simply fantastic as she provided so much information and opportunity for us to experience the Tongass forest. We stopped frequently as she shared her extensive knowledge. Anika was also very helpful in helping us identify different plant species. We hiked down to the beach. It was just a 10+ experience all the way, even the ride back in the slightly heavier rain. Highly recommend.

Exciting and educational. Great captain and caring boat crew.
Captain Kailey was great to explain what we were seeing. We saw puffins, sea lions, sea otters, seals, a school of jellyfish. And, most important, humpback whales. We saw a pod of 4 adult humpbacks swarming around a school of fish. The captain kept the legal distance from the humpbacks. But, one humpback unexpectedly breached within 20 foot of our boat. We later saw a humpback and baby. Captain Kailey educated us that a baby humpback gains 50 lbs and 1 foot growth every day. The boat supplies binoculars. We got to area where there were 4 waterfalls. The captain pulled the front of the boat under a waterfall. About 10 of us got under the waterfall. Was a blast. When the boat got to the glacier, the boat crew fished one of the floating ice blocks out of the sea. The crew took all the pictures we wanted with the ice block. Then, the crew broke up the block and made glacier ice margaritas for those who wanted them. Was a fantastic, educational experience.

Book now!!
Hands down the best whale watching we have ever done, including our Iceland whale watching trip. The amount of whales we saw was phenomenal. Captain Josh was informative and had lots of details to share. Joe was kind, efficient and took amazing drone footage of otters and the 5 whales that were traveling together. I would definitely do this trip again and hope to if we are ever back in Hoonah (Icy Strait Point)!

We loved Eagle Island Sea Kayaking!
My adult sons and I enjoyed sea kayaking with our guide Sara. She shared so much information about what we saw and we felt confused and safe with her. We saw dozens of bald eagles, a sea lion, seals, constellations of starfish, and the gorgeous plants and trees on the islands.

Not seeing something you are looking for?

No trip to the Last Frontier is complete without seeing some incredible wildlife. Alaska whale-watching tours depart from all of the state’s major port cities—including Juneau, Seward, and Icy Strait Point (Hoonah)—and vessels make it easy for cruise ship passengers to arrive on time for these exciting excursions. See humpback whales, orcas, and other wildlife up close during their annual migration, and marvel at their unique tail flukes as they dive near your boat. Plus, on-board naturalists offer interesting context.
