We loved our guide and she wa very knowledgable. Be warned, there are a "hundred" other Skip the line tours thus you have to wait in a big line to get. into the Vatican. Then once in, there are hundreds of people already there. So, you do have a big line but they move it quickly and it goes through quickly and there are tons of people, but it is way better than trying to walk up and go into the vatican because realistically thats just not happening.

Elyssa was a beyond exceptional guide - she was simply wonderful and very gracious. She was extremely knowledgeable - she truly understood the art and history of the Vatican and St. Peters - Although we were both in our 80s we managed the tour with no problems. She was so well spoken and understandable and she truly made the Vatican come alive. When the tour ended we we on the street although she told us how to get a cab we got lost and were trying to figure out how to hail a cab - she ran into us and went out of her way to show us how to get a cab. She was a Godsend. I cannot give enough praises for making this tour so very memorable. She is a star for your company in so many ways. Please thank her again from us

I booked this tour for our friends who were visiting Rome for the first time. The wife has a walking disability and uses a wheelchair to get around. They were anxious on how they get around the Vatican but they only had praises for their guide Franceska. She expertly navigated the Vatican Museum and Sistine Chapel seamlessly and comfortably for them. She was very informative and accommodating that our friends can’t stop thanking us for booking this tour for them.

An Amazing experience. This gives you a great overview of the Vatican. You need at least a whole day to wonder and experience the vatican

Marco was an excellent guide! Had a wonderful experience in small group with him. Highly recommend him for this tour.

Our tour with Chiara was absolutely wonderful. She was very knowledgeable, organized and patiently answered every one of our many questions. It was an absolute pleasure to be escorted by Chiara. We learned so much about the Vatican past and present. I would tell anyone considering taking this small group tour to not hesitate. We truly did skip the line and even though it was during peak hours, being there with our wonderful guide made the crowds disappear because of her exceptional attention.
Our tour today will forever be a cherished memory for my husband and me. Ask for
Chiara and you will be happy!

Any skip the line tour is the way to go. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and pointed out so many things of interest to us.
John_C, May 2026
Very knowledgeable tour guide. It was shoulder to shoulder busy and we had to keep moving in order to keep up with our guide. We enjoyed the tour, but not the crowd. It was worth the money for us.
Natalie_K, May 2026
This was one of the best guided tours we had! Our tour guide, Julia, was the best! She made the experience very organized and fun.
Randy_W, May 2026
Our guide was very English-fluent and did an excellent job. It is always crowded and there is nothing that can be done about that. We got to see everything promised. Take water.
Eileen_G, May 2026
This was absolutely worth every penny. We did not wait in line outside at all . Our tour guide Silvia was amazing and so knowledgeable about everything. She knew what to see and it was an experience I will never forget. If you’re thinking about it… do it!

Patricia was very informative and very nice, she made sure we were always in a good spot for pictures and got thru the big crowd easily with no problems.

Having an archaeologist as our tour guide was a wonderful benefit. Sabrina was enthusiastic, extremely knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor. The tour was incredible and she answered every question we had
Troy_G, May 2026
The small group skip the line tour was very good. Our tour guide Julia was great. Very informative and considerate.
Paula_M, May 2026
Davide (aka TheDavid) was great!! Walking with him was like following a witty history teacher who offered many fun and interesting details. We were immersed in the past, learning how Ancient Rome and the Vatican were connected. This was one of the best tours during our stay in Italy… and Davide was a big reason for that.

Cover much in a short amount of time. Tour guide had extensive knowledge. The Vatican is a well visited location so crowds are extensive. Be prepared to feel very much hearded through.
Robert_G, May 2026
Our guide was excellent and very knowledgeable. Was able to give us some valuable insight and lead us through the tour without getting bogged down in the huge crowd.

Viator provided excellent communication before our tour. Our tour guide, Katarina, was so knowledgeable. We did a small group tour because that's what was available but with the use of headsets you could also do a regular size tour and get as much out of it. A guided tour definitely helped us get more from our visit to the Vatican Museums, Sistene Chapel and St.Peter's Basilica.

We booked the “Rome Skip the Line Vatican Sistine Chapel St. Peter Small Group” tour through Viator, and overall, this was an excellent experience. We really enjoyed it, but there’s one key expectation you need to get right.
The good:
My wife and I loved this tour. Seeing the Sistine Chapel and the Vatican Museums in person is exactly what you’d expect from everything you’ve seen on TV and in photos. It lives up to the hype.
The highlight was our guide, Rapali (spelling might be off). He was originally from Lebanon and had studied in Canada, and his knowledge was on another level. It honestly felt like he had a PhD in the history of the Vatican. On top of that, he was funny, with a dry sense of humor that kept the whole group engaged.
The tour is about three hours, but they pack a lot into it. You get to see the major highlights without feeling like you missed everything, which is huge considering you could spend days there.
The small group size was another big win. There were only six of us, which made it much easier to move through the massive crowds at Vatican City. And trust me, the crowds are no joke.
If you want to avoid being stuck in one of those giant groups following a guide holding a flag, this is a much better experience.
The not so good:
The biggest issue is the “skip the line” claim. This may partly be on me, but I expected that to mean you bypass the line completely, similar to a fast pass system.
That’s not what happens.
You are essentially reserving a ticket in advance, but you still wait in line with everyone else. When I asked the guide about it, he even said the term is a bit misleading.
And the line is no small thing. It stretches for blocks and is packed with people. To be fair, once it starts moving, it does move at a decent pace, but it’s still a wait, and that was disappointing given the price of the tour.
Bottom line:
This is a fantastic tour if you want a small group, a great guide, and an efficient way to see the highlights of the St. Peter’s Basilica and the Vatican in a short amount of time.
Just don’t go in expecting to literally skip the line.
Set the right expectation, and you’ll probably enjoy this as much as we did.

First, Stefano aka Kermit was the BEST tour guide we’ve ever had whether with a Viator excursion or another company. He was prompt, personable, friendly, funny, knowledgeable, and he TRULY LOVES what he does. He should be in charge of training all your other tour guides.
2. The Vatican tour is the most organized tour I’ve ever been on. They know how to keep thousands of people moving effortlessly through their property. You’d never know you were spending the afternoon with thousands of people.
My only complaint was the earpiece we each had to wear for the first part of the tour. Mine would not stay on so I either had to stand next to my guide to listen to him talk or hold the piece to my ear. The second part of our tour we were assigned new listening devices and I was able to plug in my earbuds that I had in my backpack.
Laura_R, Apr 2026
We loved it! The guide was so knowledgeable, and kind! We saw all the wonderful things and more! We highly recommend it!
Gregory_B, Apr 2026
Nice way to see these two spectacular places and well worth every penny to get around the lines, which are massive. Our guide Davide, was fantastic and provided an incredible experience with his knowledge and sense of humor!
Michelle_M, Apr 2026
We had a good experience. The day was fast paced and busy and the crowds were excessive, however we enjoyed our experience. We had a nice day
Amy_S, Apr 2026
Our tour guide, Alex, was amazing. He was very knowledgable of the history, the artists, the art and the meanings behind all the paintings and artwork. He was friendly, kind and fun.
Sharde_S, Apr 2026
Giving it 5 stars even though we had some issues! We are in Italy for our honeymoon and there was some sort of mixup with our tix and we had to start the tour an hour later. We ere concerned at first that we would miss the Vatican all together as we were only in Rome for 48 hours… the tour guide took us on the second half of the tour an then we had to wait about 45 min to do the second part of the tour at 5:30pm. It ended up working out and although it was an inconvenience everyone. Was patient and also worked diligently to rectify the problem. We would have been really upset if we came all the way to Rome and don’t see the Vatican.
Sarah_M, Apr 2026
Well organised. Our guide was very informative and good fun so we learned a lot and had a laugh along the way. The tour was exactly as described on booking.
Lane_S, Apr 2026
I was very happy with LivTours and our host Emily. They sent several texts and emails with very explicit information on where to meet and Emily was very knowledgeable I would highly recommend both
