A peaceful and authentic walk for those who want to experience Crete away from the crowds. A 10 km circular walk through two hidden gorges and one of the quieter landscapes of western Crete. We begin in Karanos, a traditional Cretan mountain village where life still moves at a slower pace. From here, we descend into the first gorge. Both gorges are still largely undiscovered by tourism, and you will rarely meet other walkers here. Along the way, ancient trees have been shaped by time and nature, their trunks twisting and bending into extraordinary forms. Growing untouched between the steep rock walls, they give the gorges their wild and almost magical character. Much of the walk is in natural shade, beneath trees and between high rock walls, making it especially pleasant during the warmer months. Only the open river section is sunnier. A Great Overview of Crete History and Culture

The tour started promptly in a comfortable vehicle. Our Guide, Apostolos, was fun, very knowledgeable and a good driver. He really made the tour special. The variety of stops and locations gave us a good understanding of the landscape and culture of Crete. The lunch stop was so good! We sadly only had one day and this tour was perfect to maximize the quality of our time in Crete. We highly recommend it.

Our family of 4 had such a fun time on our tour! Maria our guide was fantastic - very knowledgeable and made our time together very entertaining. The foods we sampled ( there was so much food so make sure you go hungry!) and the experiences were a great way to get to know local Chania . Would highly recommend his tour !

This was the best experience! The hosts went above and beyond to give us and the other guests a wonderful evening. From the warm welcome, introductions, hands on cooking, tour of the farm, the animals, getting to know about their family…it doesn’t get more authentic than this. A must do when in Crete!

A wonderful day out!

Amazing drive through the countryside, with some breathtaking views (coach driver George was very skilled). The weather wasn't great for our trip, but we still enjoyed a few hours at the beach. Be prepared for crowds! The bus had sun umbrellas we could borrow, which meant we could set up anywhere. Most of the swimming beach area is quite shallow, so perfect if you have kids. It's about a 10 minute walk from the carpark to the beach, then a thigh-deep wade across to the island (if you choose). Don't expect the sand to be particularly pink 😜. The drive itself was surprisingly enjoyable, accompanied by wonderfully informative commentary from our guide Simona. In Elios, go to the family run taverna for a traditional Cretan meal!

Definitely worth it if...

Definitely worth it if you want to visit these hard to reach locations without the chaos of a big tourist ship. Everything was well planned, and the boat had plenty of food, drinks, and places to hang out while sailing. And there are things to do whether you want to run up to the fortress in Gravmousa and swim to Balos lagoon, or just hang out on the boat. If I had to criticize something, I wish they'd separate smokers into their own tour, or make the whole thing non-smoking. We only had one smoker, and it was annoying enough. Not much space on the boat to get away from it.

Exceptional private experience

If I could give this to her 10 stars I would! George picked us up promptly at our desired time and location. We traveled in a very clean and spacious van. Although the day is scheduled for up to 10 hours, we desired only a seven hour tour. Because it is completely private, George helped us to identify what was best for our group to cut, so we would be back at our desired time. We started our day at a beautiful olive orchard where we learned about olive trees, olive oil production, as well as their beehives and honey. We had a very fun tasting experience in a gorgeous setting of the olive trees. After this, we opted to visit the cave, where George told us a little history about its significance. It was a very unique and special experience for our family. When we visited the beach, George was very kind and prepared with beach towels, mats, and even an umbrella. He always had a fresh supply of cold waters for us and did everything possible to make us comfortable. He brought us to a lovely restaurant for lunch and we opted to end our day early. For people who want to do more, the day has the potential to be longer. There is a lot of driving around the island, but George gave us a perfect balance of answering our questions, and also allowing us to just be quiet and enjoy enjoying the beautiful scenery. He was an exceptionally careful driver, as many of these mountain roads seemed quite dangerous. I cannot say enough good things about this tour. Don’t hesitate to book! Definitely worth the money. This was such an amazing experience for my husband and I! We will never forget this sailing trip. It was a last minute excursion we booked and we didn’t expect it to be so beautiful. Dia Island is so picturesque and the water was incredibly beautiful. The skipper was also amazing and so kind. The food they provided was delicious!
