Yes, active and outdoor classes in Athens are worth it. While there are many indoor museums in Athens, the best way to experience the city is undoubtedly as the Ancient Greeks did: al fresco and on the go. Whether you opt for a sunrise yoga class atop Philopappos Hill or traditional dance lessons in a garden theater, you'll feel fulfilled thanks to the endorphin release and Vitamin D. You may also even make new friends and return home with a new skill or hobby.

Per one customer who booked A Unique & Interactive Greek Warrior Experience, "Not only do you get to enjoy a pleasant walk up Philopappos Hill and take in the views of the Acropolis, you get to learn about Greek history and have a go at role playing the part of an ancient Greek soldier! It was a fascinating insight into the different battle strategies between the all conquering Persian empire and the defiant Greeks who were completely outnumbered, but not outsmarted."

Before booking active and outdoor classes in Athens, consider your fitness level and factor in the heat. If you’re visiting in July, the hottest month of the year, you may want to book a sunrise class vs. an afternoon experience. Also, see if you can squeeze a class or workshop in on the first full day you have in the city. For example, if you do a dance class early on, you’ll be able to use the moves you learn at the taverns you visit throughout the rest of your trip.

To fully enjoy active and outdoor classes in Athens, wear appropriate clothing and footwear. Athens is usually hot and dry in the summer, and cool and humid in the winter. Because most active & outdoor classes take place on grass, you probably won’t want to be wearing kitten heels or stilettos. And while you’ll be busy doing an activity or learning a new skill, remember to catch your breath every once in a while and soak up your surroundings. You’re in one of the world’s oldest and most epic cities, after all.
