Do not book with this company unless you want to go on a wild goose hunt for the “tour guide” that never existed. My family and I stood and searched for this mysterious tour guide for 45 minutes. Viator gave us directions to this random cinema near the museum where we had to meet the “tour guide” which again never existed. When I tried calling the company and the supposed tour guide I was left on hold for 10 minutes for them to end up hanging up on me. We finally decided to just head to the actual museum itself and the staff there weren’t friendly at all when we voiced our concern about the confusiones with the “tour guide” they blamed us for not calling when we did. TERRIBLE INSTRUCTIONS!!!!

Liked the self tour through with headphones. Easy to go at your own pace. A little confusing with meeting place but once I reread I saw as long as you have your voucher, go directly to the place. Do not wait in line. Walk to the front with your timed ticket.

I thought we had a guide and didn’t realize that it was just the regular self guided tour offered through the museum. That being said, I was impressed with the museum itself and would recommend a visit.

Was given a fake ticket by the tour company. Be weary that it could be a scam luckkly the guy on the desk sorted it for us

We thought this was a terrible experience. It was difficult to find, but that was mostly our fault. Skip the line tickets helped as there was a long regular line. Evidently shoulders have to be covered and they sell you something for 1 Euro. LOT of people in a small corridor to look at exhibits from friars of the past. Evidently no air conditioning in that building. I have a ten year old and they neglected to give her the kid audio version so she could listen to the items marke kids. The bones were cool but it was a small exhibit at the end of the tour

This was very interesting. Seeing the munks skeletons in beautiful poses and the designs created from them.
Response from Host, Jul 2026
Thank you so much for the review, Suzanne. We are glad you found the Capuchin Crypts interesting. The incredible designs and arrangements created by the friars truly offer a unique reflection on history and art. While our self-guided audio experience is a great way to explore at your own pace, we also offer a fully guided Roman Catacombs and Capuchin Crypts group tour with transfers for travelers who prefer a deep-dive narrative with a live expert. Please tell your friends and family about The Tour Guy so they can check out our unique Roman experiences. We look forward to welcoming you back soon.

Highly recommend! The museum was a bit boring but the actual crypts were amazing. This is such a hidden gem! The tour operator made it very easy with the skip the line tickets.

Worth getting tickets ahead of time to bypass the line. Dress to cover shoulders and knees. Self guided with headsets and this was great to let you go at your own pace
Response from Host, May 2026
Hi Diana,
Glad you enjoyed the visit! Pre-booking definitely makes a difference in avoiding those entrance lines, and the audio guide is a great way to take in the history of the Crypts without feeling rushed.
Thanks for the helpful reminder about the dress code—keeping shoulders and knees covered is essential for entry. We appreciate you sharing your experience!

Go and speak to the tour guide regardless of whether you have booked a tour or not - she was very reassuring. Whole thing really fascinating - so pleased we went.
Kurt_S, Apr 2026
The Crypt itself was nice. Just wish I would not have booked through Viator. Lots of confusing information provided regarding tickets. One email says download tickets here, then you download and the download says this is not a ticket. Then on the Viator App it states you must meet the tour operator and receive a ticket before going to the Crypt. We went to the location 20 minutes early and waited 20 minutes after the meet time and they did not show up. Had to call Viator and spent 20 minutes on the phone trying to get our tickets to get in. Which we did. Then come to find out a ticket at the Crypt is about 6 Euros compared to the 17 Euros we paid through Viator. Terrible experience.

Hi Kurt. Thank you for sharing your feedback with us.
While we are pleased to hear that you enjoyed the beauty of the Crypt, we are sorry to hear that the logistics of your visit caused you frustration. We aim to provide clear instructions, and we regret that you found the process confusing.
It is important to clarify that we sent you specific communication well in advance, explaining that the Viator voucher is not an entry ticket. We followed up on April 9th, 2026, with an additional email containing your official entry tickets, which were ready to be scanned directly at the entrance. This process is designed to provide you with a seamless and guaranteed entry time, which differs from purchasing a standard walk-up entry ticket at the venue.
Regarding your experience at the meeting point, we have reviewed our records and noted that your official tickets had already been sent to you digitally for direct access. Our team remains committed to providing high-quality, supported travel experiences that offer value beyond simple entry. We truly appreciate your feedback as we continuously work to make our instructions as intuitive as possible for all our guests.
We hope you will consider joining us on one of our other guided adventures in the future. Please tell your friends and family about the unique experiences we offer!

Be warned! We were overcharged! This site led us to believe that all entrants were the same price, but the kids should have been free, we learned once we got there. I responded to Viator’s WhatsApp message regarding the experience and mentioned this to them , but have not gotten any response (they haven’t even read it).
To top it off, one email we got told us both that our tickets would be emailed and that we needed to meet someone in person to grab physical tickets. I found the person we were supposed to meet, and she seemed confused as to why I was there wanting to grab our tickets. She ended up emailing them to me so we had them for entry - all felt sketchy, confusing, and inconvenient.
Also, we were expecting to go into underground crypts like catacombs - these are in one small hallway on the upper floor of the building and were incredibly underwhelming, especially after seeing the catacombs of Paris.
Overall, disappointed with the experience and with Viator.
Response from Host, Apr 2026
Hi Rachel,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback, and I am sorry to hear that parts of your experience felt confusing on the day.
I would like to clarify a couple of important points regarding your booking. You purchased Capuchin Crypts entry tickets with an audio guide. This is exactly the experience that was provided. It is an entry based visit to the Capuchin Crypts, which is a small site beneath the church with an ossuary display and museum space.
This experience is not the same as the Roman catacombs. There are separate underground catacomb tours in Rome, which are a different product entirely and involve a very different site and experience. You did not book the catacombs tour, so that visit is not included in this ticket type.
With regard to ticket delivery, I have checked our system and can confirm your tickets were sent prior to your visit. As the booking was made through Viator, we do not have access to your direct email address, so all communication and ticket delivery is done through the Viator messaging system, which is the only channel available to us. The tickets were also sent in advance there, and a reminder message was issued before your entry time.
With regard to your comment about the process feeling “sketchy”, I do want to respectfully clarify that everything was handled through official ticketing channels, with advance purchase from the Capuchin Crypts themselves. We completely understand that receiving messages via different platforms can feel a little confusing, but this is a result of how third party booking systems like Viator operate rather than anything unusual with the experience itself.
We appreciate your feedback

It's very worth it. Very interesting the story of the Frades Capuchinhos. And very different the experience of seeing the skeletons.
