What are people saying about La Fortuna

Don’t let the rain, rain on your parade!
What a wonderful way to experience the rainforest! This was me and my partners favorite activity we did in La Fortuna. Our tour started with a downpour that continued through the 1.5 hour tour, but with the rain came the mighty sounds of the river and water falls flowing through the park. The rain didn’t interfere with the tour. We were able to walk through all the hanging bridges and see the rainforest and park in its natural beauty. We came across howler monkeys, spider monkeys, the blue Jean frog, a hog, an eyelash viper and two tarantulas. Our guide Jorge was friendly, kind and knowledgable on all that we saw and more. Bring closed-toe shoes, a Pancho or rain jacket and umbrella and a water bottle. The trail is paved and the park is in the process of making stairs through a little area of switch backs where the ground is a little more slick. There are rails and plenty to hold on too, just make sure your shoes have some tread. It was a wonderfully immersive experience!

Fantastic Nature and Wildlife
This was a fantastic tour! The waterfall was amazing, and the hot springs were nice to relax in at the end of a long day. The hike to the Arenal volcano was through the rainforest, which was neat, but it unfortunately was raining hard the whole time so the view wasn’t as good. But at least we had an authentic rainforest experience! Melanie was a fantastic guide, and Chris was really good at spotting wildlife. We saw a sloth, some toucans, iguana, and poisoned dart frog! And Cha Cha was an excellent driver. It was a long day with a lot of steps, but so worth it, and there was lots of time to rest and regroup. We would highly recommend this tour!

Waterfall, Volcano, Bridges
You need to be in shape for this. First stop, beautiful waterful- 500 steps down, and then back up. Rest and get your heartrate down- then off to the volcano hike. Sergio was wonderful balancing the pace and keeping the fast ones, slow ones, and in between ones moving as a group up to the spectacular views from the lava rocks. The clouds cleared briefly (seconds) but we got to see the summit. Then off the hanging bridges- the park is not flat- the views are amazing but you need to earn them. Saw spider monkeys hopping in the canopy, a pair of toucans, a bright mottled yellow snake lying in wait for prey, and a cute little olingo hunting for food. Amazing, heart pumping experience.

Zip lining thru Life & Family Bonding Above the Trees
What an incredible family experience! Our kids absolutely loved the zip lining adventure, and we all had such a blast together. From start to finish, we felt completely safe and well taken care of. Allen and Mula were fantastic guides — fun, encouraging, and great with the kids. John, our photographer, was also incredibly attentive and captured so many special moments for our family. This was such a beautiful way to create family connection, adventure, and memories together. Highly recommend for families with young children looking for a fun and safe experience!

Boasting easy access to an inactive volcano, gushing waterfalls, and white-water rapids, La Fortuna is a popular base camp for outdoor adventures. And with the right booked excursion, nothing is off-limits. La Fortuna tours can safely lead you to your next adrenaline rush, whether it’s climbing to the soaring peak of Arenal Volcano, ziplining through the rainforest, or rafting the Sarapiqui River. If extreme adventure isn’t your thing, don’t fret. More relaxed options like guided nature walks or coffee and cacao tastings let you experience a quieter side of pura vida.
