What To Expect

Explore the magnificent wild landscape of Children’s Eternal Rainforest, a remote area of the jungle discovered by your adventurous guides. After morning pickup from your La Fortuna hotel, travel in an air-conditioned van to this secret retreat while learning about the history and highlights of the landscape. When you arrive at the base camp, gear up with a harness and helmet and receive a thorough safety orientation.

Get straight to the thrills with a heart-stopping, 80-foot (24-meter) rappel down a waterfall. Push off of rocks during the misty descent, and then let go to plunge into a pool below. Next, hike through the surrounding rain forest along slippery, rugged terrain that keeps you on your toes. Trek to the mouth of the canyon, where you rappel down a steep cliff and plunge into another refreshing pool.

Enjoy a swim in the river that cuts through the canyon or take a break and let the currents carry you on your back. Continue on through a deep section of the canyon, where you traverse the rugged terrain using grips and footholds in the rocky wall. Along the way, conquer gravity with four waterfall free jumps ranging in height from 10 to 30 feet (3 to 9 meters).

Swim to shore after your final waterfall leap and replenish your energy with a refreshing snack of tropical fruit. Trek out of the rain forest with your guides, and travel by van to a local restaurant for a hearty lunch of typical Costa Rican cuisine. After you eat your fill, rest your weary muscles on the return drive to La Fortuna.

My husband and I had so much fun. We were the only two waterfall jumping and everyone was super accommodating. The waterfall jumping is the easy part. Hiking back was the hard part. The lunch was super delicious and we loved the photos we got back.

Wow! What an amazing experience!! Not only did we rappel down a canyon wall, we jumped and dove into various pools as we followed the river. Our guides, David and Michael, did an amazing job explaining our rappel and each jump. They made sure we were safe and understood when I chickened out on the highest jumps-- my husband said they were super fun! On our short 4 wheel drive to the starting point, Michael pointed out two different types of toucans. On our climb out of the canyon, we spotted a monkey jumping between branches. Overall, an awesome experience! PS They took pictures and videos of us too, so we didn't risk losing our phones.

Picked us up around 6:30, ~1hr to location with one stop for bathrooms. Experience was awesome! A bit scary, but felt very safe with the experienced guides. Eric & Dario were very knowledgeable & kind people, so I would recommend them to anyone. Food was also delicious!

Great Tour but more instruction needed

Such a fun tour! We loved the adventure of rappelling, climbing, and jumping. The last jump was 33 feet high and so thrilling. My one recommendation is that more instruction is needed in a calm, quiet area before the first rappel and a smaller group. We hiked to the first rappel and a huge group of us were on the side of a cliff trying to listen to the safety instructions and how to rappel over the sound of the waterfall, no one could really hear or see and we were scared to get closer because of the cliff. That part should be done before starting the hike. The first rappel is the toughest one and they drop you. They forgot to mention this and to let go of the rope so the first few people who went were really confused. More instructions needed.

This was an amazing tour. Breathtakingly beautiful and well...breathtakingly challenging! The tour guides were charming and I always felt safe...though DEFINITELY challenged. From the 160 foot rappelling to the jumps into the gorgeous river to scampering up phenomenal flora hills. It was all gorgeous!

We had a fabulous time on this tour! The guides were so fun and friendly. The scenery is breathtaking! This was a great activity to do with our 3 teenage girls ages 22, 18 and 15. It definitely pushed us to the edge of our limits. Rappeling beside a gorgeous waterfall, climbing up a waterfall rock face, and lots of cliff jumping. Each of our kids was challenged in a different way. I took our GoPro with a float handle and got some great footage of the whole family doing the climbs and jumps. The fresh pineapple, watermelon, juices and cervesas were the perfect end to the adventure! After the snack, they took us to a restaurant for lunch. It was delicious! Here is the caution: During our tour, we came across 2 Fer de Lance venomous snakes. Our guides handled the situation very well, but one of the guides ended up being bit by one of the snakes. He was taken to the hospital and we were told later that he was doing well. After this happened, it became very real that we were in the middle of the rainforest. There are real dangers and you have to decide whether it is a risk you are willing to take.

Talk about a fun adrenaline packed day! We had such a blast and recommend to anyone who is in pretty good physical shape and not too afraid of heights. The lunch at the end of the excursion was delicious. The tour guides were amazing! Would do this tour every trip to Costa Rica.

We LOVED this tour! It was so nice to be in a canyon with just our small group instead of being herded around like tourists. The jumps and repels were intense. I don't like heights, but I made myself do them and I was glad. This is not a tour for those who aren't physically fit or adventurous. The guides were fun and happy to explain in both English and Spanish.

This tour/activity was AMAZING!!! One of a kind experience, if you are ok with testing your limits and conquering your fear of heights, then GO FOR IT! It is more of an extreme tour so be prepared to do exactly what is says in the description. The tour guides were outstanding and they made the experience that much more fantastic! We had a small group so I think that made it even more enjoyable. Everything we did was very safe and Desafio Adventure Company thats the company who does this tour takes safety very seriously and explains everything you will need to know before you begin, to ensure you have a safe and enjoyable experience. If you have a GoPro camera, please take it, its worth it! we got some amazing videos!!! You don't want to take anything that is not 100 water proof because all of you will be soaked during this trip! Shorts or swimming trunks and t-shirts are just fine for what to wear, I would recommend Keen sandals which give you great support due to the fact that they are closed toe and cover your feet but are breathable and waterproof, these sandals also provide a good grip for the climbing. The other people with us had water shoes on and seemed to do fine as well. The lunch that is included was the best meal we had during our 6 day stay in Costa Rica! Authentic, amazing and delicious. This company does an outstanding job and this tour is a MUST DO for you adventure seekers, it truly gives you the opportunity to see some amazing sights that you will not see on any other tour!
