Poás volcano is a powerful symbol of the geothermal forces that formed Costa Rica. When the mist and clouds part you’ll see the sulfuric, bubbling, green rain fed lake at the bottom, surrounded by smoke and steam rising from fumaroles. Water from the lake is constantly seeping through cracks in the hot rock, evaporating and building pockets of steam. When the pressure in these pockets exceeds the weight of the water above, the steam breaks through in geysers that rocket up to 820 feet (250 meters) high. Don’t worry about getting a shower though, the crater is 1,050 feet (320 meters) deep. At almost a mile (1.6 km) across it’s also the largest active crater in the world. Worth It!

Raquel did a great job explaining to us the intricacies of coffee growing, showing us Poás (which we were very fortunate to see clearly), and walking us through the animal sanctuary. I love how she told the back story of many of the animals. The waterfalls require a lot of walking up and down steps. The pace was good. We did not feel rushed. She prepared us for whatever we encountered such as a steep hike to the lagoon (optional). Olman was a great driver too. I highly recommend!

Great zipline experience in heart of La Fortuna

This was a very fun activity for all of us. Great location in heart of la fortuna between the huge trees and close to the volcano mountain so great scenaries. We were able to spot some tucans and a monkey along the way. 8 cable zipline all exciting with various length and levels but was not hard even for our 10 years old. The staff was very friendly and informative and made sure everyone undertands the instructions and is having fun along all stages. Recommend this one for families looking to have a super fun zipline experience in La Fortuna.

First Costa Rica Adventure

The staff went above and beyond for us. They were hospitable and patient upon our arrival. I was a little bit nervous because this was my first time water rafting. Our guide constantly checked in on us during our trip down the river. He was knowledgeable about the wild life and the surrounding ecosystem when pointing out animals, noises, and trees. He was funny and kept our spirits up throughout our trip. He gave us the opportunity to swim in shallow areas multiple times along with taking photos of us. His coworker also took videos and pictures of us when going down stronger rapids which made our experience more memorable. Lastly, we enjoyed our favorite meal we’ve had while in Costa Rica - the plantain and sandia fresca was our favorite. I cannot recommend this excursion enough.

This tour was a great experience! Our tour guide, Roger was very kind and passionate about allowing us to have a memorable experience. Before arriving to the waterfall, we made two stops along the way to get coffee and wine. Both places allowed us to also buy souvenirs. The lunch was SOOO GOOD! Very fresh and delicious. Toward the end of the trip, there was a lot of walking and climbing steps so keep that in mind when booking

Fun family trip

We had a lovely time with Charly leading our tour. The coffee plantation experience was really informative. We got to pick actual coffee beans and process them, producing, what my coffee loving husband claims is one of the best cups of coffee he has ever had in his life. Charly was really on top of the weather patterns at the volcano and had us wait for the perfect view of the Poás crater. We even met a coati at the beautiful water fall! Shout out to the tasty lunch, too! Top quality casado and really good drinks.

This trip was terrific. Our tour guide Marco went out of his way to ensure everyone had an informative and entertaining time. Great experience and view of the volcano.

This was a dual language tour (Spanish and English) and that can often get awkward, but it was done very well. Other than a bit of an earlier start than I like while on vacation, I had a wonderful time. We got to see the volcano crater without issue and just as we were getting ready to leave, the clouds moved in. It was a wonderful day!

Our guide and driver...

Our guide and driver (Nancy and Marvin) were wonderful and attentive. The mountainside is breathtaking and we visited and learned a lot about Central Costa Rica. One thing that I would like to advise, is that you need to add the travel time to the excursion time: this can take between 2-4 hours depending on traffic. It was quite worth it!

A Perfect Day in Costa Rica

We could not have asked for a better tour! Adriana was kind, knowledgeable and fun to have along for the ride. This experience had everything we were looking for in our short visit, and more! The Zipline was a challenge (be prepared for an arm workout!), but the hot springs were sooo relaxing to follow up. I was a little bummed that rain and clouds obstructed our view of the volcano peak, but what can you do? I enjoyed the time in the van, being able to look out and enjoy the eye level view. They kept us well fed throughout the day, but my favorite thing to try was the cas juice at the waterfall lookout.

Alex is an awesome guide, great tour

Alex our guide was amazing, he was so funny and knowledgeable. We called him Eagle Eye Alex because he was able to spot even the smallest insects on the hike. The day was enjoyable, my mother and I were actually the only one on the tour because many cancelled due to the construction on the alligator bridge. Breakfast and lunch was very good, they had vegetarian options for us which was great! The day is long and you’re in the van for a while but it’s mainly due to the traffic and construction. Overall, Alex and the tour was great, I loved seeing all the animals in their natural habitat! Make sure you have sunscreen and lots of water it is very humid. If you want to swim at the beach bring your swim suit and a towel. There are foot washing stations on the trail back to where you’ll meet your guide but it’s a bit of walk till you get there. Make sure you go to the bathroom before you get back on the bus to San Jose, it is a long way back and you might have to take a different back route that goes through the mountains with no places or very limited places to stop to use the bathroom.

Amazing experience great staff at the adventure place. We did horseback and ATV. Although nothing on the company but the girl in front of us during ATV kept taking selfies and holding us up. Again nothing on the company but maybe restrict people from being on their phones during ATV. Again great place. Great customer service and attention detail. We had a blast.
