A fantastic day tour

This tour was a fantastic experience. My original booking was postponed by 1 day due to the DMZ restrictions on a public holiday, but I’m so glad it was possible to rearrange it to the following day. Due to the long weekend and expected crowds, our start time was moved slightly earlier to 6am to beat the crowds and, wow, what a great decision that was! During the morning, everywhere was relatively quiet when we arrived and then the crowds were building up as we left. I definitely recommend as early a time as possible, the early start is well worth it! Our tour guide, Gogo, was amazing. He was friendly and funny, told great stories, delivered information in a very engaging way and wrangled the group really well. A very well organised day that I highly recommend doing.

Great tour!

Happy Sam was good at communicating and letting us know the plan. He made sure everyone made it back to the bus on time to keep everyone on schedule. He was very hospitable with giving us wipes and chocolate and guiding us. There was a traffic jam at the bottom of the tunnel that was hosting up the line. He personally went in and cleared it out to get us moving. He was a great guide! Very energetic and fun!

We had such a fantastic time exploring Seoul’s food scene with Jacob! He was an excellent guide—friendly, knowledgeable, and full of interesting insights into Korean food, culture, and local traditions. The food was absolutely delicious, and we loved discovering local spots, including some that had been featured on Gordon Ramsay’s shows and Netflix’s Street Food! It made the experience even more special knowing we were tasting dishes from places that had received international recognition. One of the highlights was learning about traditional Korean drinking games! It was such a fun way to experience another side of Korean culture and connect with the group. Jacob made the entire experience engaging, informative, and enjoyable. This tour was a wonderful combination of amazing food, cultural insights, and fun experiences. Excellent DMZ Tour

This was a very well-organised and well-run tour that delivered everything it promised. Communication was excellent. The tour organisers reached out via WhatsApp to confirm various logistics as did Joo Ee, our guide. This included the pickup location, time, and coach number. We were picked up directly opposite our hotel bang on time at 6.20 am. Yes, this is early but it meant we avoided traffic on our way to the first stop and - crucially - allowed us to get the first slot into the DMZ. Joo Ee was a great guide. She was funny, engaging, professional and knowledgeable. She made sure things ran to time. She was also very happy to take photos. We were all given wireless headsets and Joo Ee provided live commentary / narrative via these. It worked well. First stop was Imjingak. It’s a glorified theme park but there’s a fair amount of historical significance too. It’s also the first of many snack / toilet stops. As we were there early it was deserted so a good opportunity for photos without the crowds. One of two highlights was the Third Infiltration Tunnel which is inside the DMZ. It’s a steep descent to the tunnel (and the same climb back up afterwards). Hard hats are mandatory and you do need to stoop if you’re more than average height as the tunnel itself isn’t big. It’s also hewn straight out of the granite so it’s rough and ready! However, it’s a testament to the ingenuity of the North Korean military. Dora Observatory was the next stop and it’s the location from where you can look directly into North Korea. One caveat: you absolutely cannot take photographs. It’s prohibited. That said, it’s still quite the experience and Joo Ee provides a pretty stark idea of life north of the border. Final stop was Gamaksan Chulleong Suspension Bridge. It’s a bit of a hike up to the bridge but the views are stunning. It’s also a war memorial: The Gloucester Heroes Bridge, dedicated to the 1st Battalion of the Gloucester Regiment of the British Army. Alongside the 170th Mortar Platoon, the battalion fought three divisions of the Chinese Communist Army during the Korean War and was effectively wiped out. There are a couple of concrete dugouts on the way up to the bridge and a memorial plaque on the far side of the bridge. As much as it’s a spectacular engineering feat it’s a sobering reminder of the Korean War and the British Army’s role. Lest we forget! After that it was roughly a 90-minute drive back to Seoul where we were dropped off at Myeondong metro station at around 3.30 pm. Everywhere we stopped had places for snacks and souvenirs. Restrooms were available at every stop too and were of decent size, clean and well-maintained. Overall, this was an excellent tour and we’d thoroughly recommend it.

Communication between travelers and driver was great. Immigration took an unusually long time and our driver was very patient and gave clear instructions on how to find her inside the terminal doors. Excellent DMZ tour with James!

Great experience on this tour! Everything was very well organized and ran right on time, and our guide, James, was wonderful—friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly invested in making sure everyone had a good experience. The DMZ itself was fascinating and absolutely worth seeing. One tip for future travelers: don’t underestimate the physicality, particularly the walk through the Third Tunnel. It’s very doable, but there are some steep sections and a fair amount of walking, so take your time and wear comfortable shoes. Overall, a really memorable experience and I would absolutely recommend it!

James was fantastic!...

James was fantastic! Great overview of South Korea’s past and culture in an 8 hour day. He kept things moving, easy to understand and informative which made the day very interesting.
