A scenic and memorable excursion in Iceland to the majestic Godafoss Waterfall. Godafoss is one of the most spectacular and historic waterfalls in Iceland. The name means the "waterfall of the gods". The waterfall is about 12 meters high (36 feet) and 30 meters wide (90 feet), and it forms a horseshoe shape that creates a stunning spectacle of water and mist. You will have about 45 minutes to explore the waterfall and take photos of this natural wonder. After admiring the waterfall, you will board the bus again and head back to Akureyri but not exactly the same way. You will drive through the beautiful Fnjoskadalur Valley, up to the mountains and down to the Eyjafordur Bay with astonishing view. The Eyjafjordur Bay is the longest in Iceland, and surrounded by snow-capped mountains. Before you arrive to Akureyri the bus will stop at the Akureyri Viewpoint so you can enjoy the view over the town of Akureyri, the Bay and the mountains, and take pictures!

Our tour is named "Godafoss Express" it's a round trip shuttle from Akureyri to Godafoss Waterfall. On way back from Godafoss the tour could ends straight to the port or in the close downtown but the most popular choice is to Botanical Garden. This is not far from Downtown and Port with a nice walk in downhill. Other drop off choices (making arrangements with driver) visiting other attractions in Akureyri are available (ZipLine Akureyri, Forrest Lagoon, Aviation Icelandic Museum, Motorcycle Icelandic Museum) entrance tickets are not included. NOTE: For those who are willing to extend 60/90 minutes their visits giving us the time necessary for our shuttle to return back to the botanical garden or to the center (after making arrangements with the driver), we are happy to offer a return to the port with the first available shuttle on place. Niels was very nice and...

Niels was very nice and had good stories and information about the area. Godafoss was amazing. We had about 50 minutes there, it was perfect to see a few different viewpoints and go to the go to the gift shop. The bus was very comfortable and clean.

We really enjoyed the narration of our native Icelandic tour guide. Scenery was gorgeous and geology is amazing. One word of mention: during the tour they switched out our bus and driver which caused a bit of panic for some travelers. Probably should have mentioned that.

Fantastic trip, guide Gabba was brilliant!

This trip was brilliant and the amount of geothermal things we saw and the scenery was stunning. We had Dabba as our local guide and she drove the minibus. Dabba is from Akureyi and she gave us so much interesting and useful information, it was brilliant! Dabba also gave us a little tour of parts of Akureyi on route which was lovely to see. We did this tour which picked us up and dropped us back to our cruise ship. We saw the pseudocraters, lava fields of Dimmuborgir, Hverir geothermal area with its bubbling mud pools, steaming fumaroles and a landscape like the moon was amazing. The strong smell of sulphur is not very nice! We also went to Godafoss waterfall that was beautiful with its glacial water. It was lovely that a stop at a cafe in Godafoss for coffee and a treat was included in the tour and a welcome break. We felt the trip was well worth the money and experience. It would have been good to have had a little bit longer in each place but knew timings had to be strict as we all had to get back to our cruise ship.

Amazing experience!

Please make sure you have Kiersten as your guide! Thoroughly knowledgeable from top to bottom. Knew everything about anything. We were extremely lucky this day. Picture perfect postcard day. Not a cloud in the sky, so that helped. The waterfall was beautiful, the boiling pots were amazing. The Icelandic landscape makes you feel like you’re on another planet. Downfall of course because it was a summer day, there were bus fulls, and two cruise ships in town, so all the sights were riddled with tourists, But Kiersten was truly amazing! You can tell she loves her job, took time to talk to us individually, answer any questions we threw at her. So great tour guide + great weather = great experience!

Humpbacks!

The captain and guide were both great. They give you float suits that seem silly at first and then you learn to love them. It’s very windy and cold. Bring a hat and gloves. The ride is long (about 40 minutes) but it’s so beautiful, it goes by quickly. We saw many dolphins swimming with our boat. The whales were spectacular! We saw 2 humpbacks who were feeding near the surface, so they were visible multiple times. I would highly recommend this tour.

Beautiful Falls, Great Excursion

Great excursion with Saga Tours, booked thru Viator. Great price. Company responded quickly to my questions to clarify meeting point, which was appreciated. Driver was excellent, friendly and knowledgeable. An hour at the falls goes by quickly. Most people walk on the left side of falls. I’d suggest walking along right side of falls… great view and way less people. Walking paths are good. You do have time to do both, if you keep moving. Included in trip was a cup of coffee and a local sweet at the hotel, very nice. Clean bathrooms. (no fee). Bus gave option to drop off at the town centre on way back to pier, which was nice.

You get to see and experience so many different terrains/panoramas. It was a small group, so it made it even better. Faster loading and unloading. Not to forget that the prices are much better than booking directly from the Cruise.

We saw 4 whales!

Excellent experience, and on the day we went we saw 4 whales (3 Humpbacks and 1 minke whale) There was plenty of room on board the boat, and the commentary was good too. The tour guide took some pictures which we had access to and were much better than the ones we had taken on our phones. Overall we would highly recommend

Layer up for the cold...

Layer up for the cold weather and sea spray. The tour guide didn't talk too much, and the captain did a great job getting us near the whales quickly. Originally, I debated between this type of boat and the traditional oak boats, but my daughter and I were so happy that we went with this one. It was an unforgettable experience, and Puffin Island was the "icing on the cake."

Whale watching

Had a good time on this 5 pm tour. We saw a humpback whale and followed him for about 30 minutes. The whale jumped all the way out of the water! My 2 kiddos got seasick so I would recommend taking some seasick meds before the ride. The oak boat is very jumpy. The guide was great and very knowledgeable.
