A Bloody Brilliant Night in York. History, Laughs, and Just the Right Amount of Mischief
As a visitor from Texas with a lifelong love of British history, Mad Alice’s Bloody Tour was one of the absolute highlights of our trip to York.
Mad Alice has the rare gift of making centuries of history come alive with incredible storytelling, quick wit, and just the right amount of delightfully bawdy humor. She had us laughing one minute and hanging on every word the next as we wandered through York’s ancient streets learning about Vikings, Romans, plague, executions, and all the wonderfully grim events that make York such a fascinating city.
What impressed me most was how much genuine history was woven into the entertainment. This isn’t just a comedy act. it’s an interesting history lesson delivered by someone who clearly knows and loves the city. The irreverent jokes never overshadow the stories; they make them even more memorable.
Mad Alice had the entire group involved, regardless of age or where they were from, and somehow made complete strangers feel like we were all in on the joke together.
If you’re visiting York and only have time for one evening activity, make it this tour. Wear comfortable shoes, bring your sense of humor, and don’t be afraid if you blush a little. She talked about my “bits”! You’ll leave entertained, better informed, and with a deeper appreciation for one of England’s greatest historic cities.
Five stars simply aren’t enough. Bloody brilliant!

A perfect day trip from York
This was a lovely day in the countryside. Because we were in a van rather than a huge bus, we were able to travel by the smaller roads past hedgerows and stone walls, enjoying the beautiful scenery, while stopping in some charming villages and eating far too much cheese at the Wensleydale Creamery. John, our guide and driver, was entertaining and informative, and the whole day was great fun.
(I also really appreciated the clear directions to the meeting point. I found it immediately and that's not always the case!)

What a fantastic ghost...
What a fantastic ghost tour! It was the perfect mix of spooky stories, fascinating history, and great humour. Our guide, Charlie, was very engaging and knowledgeable. We learned so much about York's haunted past while having great fun. Highly recommend it to anyone visiting York!

Definitely worth it!
This was a really fun day. Our driver/guide Steve was interesting and friendly and funny. We got to see the Yorkshire Moors, ride an old-fashioned, steam train, and stood at the platform that served as the Hogeade Station in the first Harry Potter film. We also spent a couple of hours at Whitby, a charming town full of history, with a ruined Abbey that has some Dracula connections. Definitely worth the trip!

fun with chocolate
If you love chocolate and want to make your own bar with a choice of flavour, then go for it.
Our teacher was knowledgeable and presented the whole process of chocolate making, starting with cocoa pods, in a very accessible way for all ages. It was great fun to make your own chocolate bar, choosing your own flavour, and a range of other treats added into the chocolate to design your own chocolate bar.

A Tour Not to Be Missed!!
Lee was a fantastic guide! This tour offered so many amazing adventures in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
We were able to see many sites from All Creatures Great and Small, including the village where the show is filmed, Helen‘s father‘s house, and the church that is in many of the scenes.
In addition, we saw exceptional scenery, a beautiful waterfall, and ended at the Bolton Castle.
This trip is highly recommended for anyone who wants to see the beauty of this area.

Amazing and magical ✨
My guide Molly was amazing. Talking with her was like sharing a passion with an old friend. You can see her love for the city and the world of Harry Potter. I highly recommend this tour if you happen to visit York and love Harry Potter. Great job, Molly! 🐍

Walking Ghost Tour
Lou was an excellent story teller. He took us right back in time, giving us a real feel for the historic time period when recounting his ghostly tales.
We throughly enjoyed our walk with him, and learnt a lot about the spooky side of York.
Definitely would recommend.

History with a difference
A great way to take in some history and be entertained at the same time. Pleased we did this on our first night in the city, a good introduction.
Daffyd was theatrical and projected his voice, so I had no problems hearing although I wear hearing aids.
Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting a relaxed tour.

Like the pied piper, my kids were spellbound following the Wizard!
A great experience for the children and adults alike with plenty of gags and wit from the wizard - many of them being dad worthy!. The children were enthralled and my two young ones were spellbound following the wizard around York city centre. It’s a fun way to orient yourself around the city centre and keep kids occupied for 90 mins or so!

The most comprehensive York tour in all of York.
Dave is so knowledgable and truly joyful about his history niche that this tour is overloaded with reasons to go. It was unique in that it was open-ended - as long as we wanted to make the tour. He offered an all-day option - though I left after 3 ish hours and a lovely coffee break, during which Dave also demonstrated his James Bond trivia expanse. Rarely does one see someone so enjoying his job.

Truly amazing experience - highly recommend
Absolutely amazing! I loved the interactive format, the actors were brilliant - some too realistic …
My 9 year old grandson loved it too although some parts were a little too scary for him. I had to keep reminding him it was pretend which shows just how good it was! My favourite part was when he was chosen for ‘execution’ - apparently grandma isn’t supposed to shout ‘execute him’ with such enthusiasm.
Would 100% recommend this. I did balk at the cost at first but it was worth every penny.
Only one negative but not enough to downgrade - as someone with a disability, the unevenness of the floor together with the dark made me a little hesitant but still not enough to downgrade the experience. Oh and if you are disabled and need the toilet, find somewhere else to go beforehand as they are situated out of the building, up some steps and down some stairs!
Take your kids, frighten them half to death and then laugh about it all afterwards!
