A great experience for the children and adults alike with plenty of gags and wit from the wizard - many of them being dad worthy!. The children were enthralled and my two young ones were spellbound following the wizard around York city centre. It’s a fun way to orient yourself around the city centre and keep kids occupied for 90 mins or so!

We had an entertaining morning, great for smaller kids however we left without learning anything about York which was disappointing, the act would be perfect if it was a better mix of history and entertainment

Hi Donna, I'm glad you had a fun morning! We are absolutely not a historical tour though, and we don't advertise as one. There are lots of those - as well as museums - and many families who visit York do these too, so we'd only be repeating the same things.
We prefer to be different, and stand out by offering something unique. We focus on magical fun for families, and that's why we find that visitors love the experience. We firmly believe that adding history would only slow the pace, making the tour a lot longer too...and it's designed to be the perfect length for little legs.
We're magic, fun and laughter all the way, but do let know if you'd like any recommendations for historical activities in this enchanting city!

We recently went on the Wizard Walk tour in York with my husband and our grandson, and it was such a delightful experience for all of us.
The tour was lively, imaginative, and full of humour from start to finish. Our guide stayed completely in character as a wizard, which really brought the whole experience to life—especially for our grandson, who was totally enchanted the entire time. There were lots of fun interactive moments, little games, and storytelling that kept everyone engaged, not just the children.
It was also a lovely way to explore York, wandering through its historic streets while hearing entertaining tales along the way. We all appreciated how well the tour balanced fun with just enough local flavour to make it feel unique to the city.

We went on this trip with our 6 and 3 year and they both had a fantastic time. Both kids were fully engaged throughout and found the walk both hilarious and entertaining, as did we! Would highly recommend and was a great way to spend a couple of hours in York

Good fun event the wizard is daft as abrush. The wizard kept us entertained on a wet cold day in York. The children enjoyed his jokes and tricks.

Entertaining for families with children under 10 years of age. Was a good way to view the town centre although was not focused on the sites or history of York. Not what I expected but very good for younger kids.

I’m so glad your family enjoyed it though, and whilst it’s aimed at younger visitors we do find that a lot of older children (and yes, even some teens!) plus their grown-ups enjoy it too. I hope you all had a magical time in our enchanting city!

We enjoyed this. My daughter and myself both found it funny. The wizard had a good energy and enthusiasm and nothing felt like it had been repeated all day. Not much history info but took you to some lovely parts of York and good fun!

This is a kid focused activity- our 7yr old loved it! It was a nice break from the more adult focused tourism. Definitely bring a wand if you have one. We went to a later in the day tour, but I would recommend going earlier since this takes you through a lot of interesting streets and near shops you’ll want to return to, but most close at 5. If any critique, I would like a few historical facts sprinkled in about the places we stopped at- the church, the alley, etc. Ultimately, its walking standup for kids but the adults genuinely loved it too.

History is definitely not what we’re about, we tried incorporating a few facts here and there, but ultimately found it affected the pace and took away from the magical theme that makes us unique. It would also make the experience longer, and it’s designed to be the ideal length for families.
We’ll leave the history to the many other tours and museums of York and keep on focusing on what we do best…fun, laughter and magic!

Absolutely perfect for a walking tour with kids. They laughed from start to finish. He was so much fun, polite and made sure he made the kiddies part of it. If your going to York with children it’s an absolute must do!

An enjoyable hour or so, with fun magic for the children and corny jokes for the adults, the time passed quickly as we moved around the centre of York. There was not too much walking and many stops for explanations and fun.

We had a really great time on the wizard tour. We laughed till our cheeks hurt and the magic tricks were genuinely impressive. We have been quoting him pretty much all day today and still howling our heads off. If you want to feel real magic (as in the lovely fuzzy feeling you get on Christmas Eve) then absolutely book on this tour.
Our guide was absolutely brilliant. He was so engaging and friendly our two usually shy and cautious girls were right at the front charging around York with the rest of the kids. He had a joke or quip for everything the kids (and adults) threw his way.
We will remember this unique and honestly brilliant experience for a long time.
If you have kids (or have the sense of humour of a 9 year old boy which I proudly do) then you will LOVE LOVE LOVE this tour. Book it and let it live rent free in your brain forever. This is the best thing you will do in York.

However, nowhere do we advertise this Wizard Walk as a historical tour - and nor do we want it to be. There are plenty of those in York, along with lots of museums and historical attractions if that's what you were looking for.
We like that The Wizard Walk of York is different, it's what makes us stand out in this enchanting city - and we've found that it's a magical formula that works.
We could of course add in historical information but this would add time to the tour, and it's designed to be the ideal length for children...plus I suspect some would lose interest with lots of facts and figures. Magical fun all the way on this experience!
A two-star review does seem a little harsh on this occasion, given that you enjoyed the magic and jokes which is the essence of the whole experience.
Unfortunately negative reviews sit here forever, and we don't feel this one reflects the family business we've conjured up. The world needs more magic and laughter, and we're going to keep on bringing that to our fellow wand-erers!
