It's for children but with great jokes for the adults. The children enjoyed finding the animals fantastic guide.
There is no correlation between the tour and the location. We thought there would be some tying in with the city of York and the tour

Thank you for your review. We do however make it very clear what the tour entails, and we don't advertise ourselves as a fact-based or historical tour. There are lots of those, and we like to be different!
As the theme of the tour is wizardry, we also feel it's clear that this is a themed experience with the emphasis on magical family fun. We find that most families love the opportunity to make memories together, and that most children prefer amazement and laughter over facts and figures.
I'm not quite sure what you mean by more genuine magic either - the tour features magic at every single stop. We have silly magic for our younger wanderers, and some real 'wow' moments for the grown-ups (plus plenty of humour along the way, pitched at all ages but all family-friendly)
It's rare for us to receive three stars, but sorry to hear it wasn't what you were expecting.

We are not a factual tour of York, and don't advertise as one. We set out to create something refreshingly different and unique, and find that's why so many families love the experience!
Whilst we could add details at each stop, it would make the tour much too long, and we prefer to to focus on fun, laughter and magic from start to finish. We believe the world needs more of that, so offer it in abundance!

Excellent 90 mins of trickery, silly jokes , very sharp ad-libs tailored to the children's names etc. My 7yr old grandson loved it. Lots of HP related content. We were a group of about 20, 10 of whom were probably between 5 and 9 and all the children got involved. Saw parts of York centre I've not seen before.
Mr Oberon was excellent, never slipped out of character and led us through the streets like the Pied Piper with a gaggle of children behind him. Would definitely recommend.
Fun for both kids and adults! Very engaging and an easy walk in the city that Kris both kids and adults entertained.
Very entertaining and full of magic for the kids and funny jokes for the grown ups!

Our time on the Exceptional Wizard Tour of York was absolutely incredible. From beginning to end, every single person in our group was completely immersed in the experience. The tour was filled with non-stop laughter that entertained both the young and the old. Our son was completely spellbound, totally taken in by the magic of the performance. This is an absolute must-do tour when visiting the city. We will definitely be booking this again on our next return to York!
It was really good very entertaining, my child is 11 yrs and most of the other children were 6/8 yrs so very good for younger children but bit boring for my child he needed older stuff , I would definitely recommend for younger kids it was great, do it to keep the kids entertained and tired after the walk.. really good in my opinion
Totally family orientated, brilliant for the children and adults. Lots to discover in York that you would normally miss.
This was a really enjoyable hour and would recommend it to to adults for the really bad puns and Dad jokes, but especially if you have children under 10. My grandson has now done this 3 times and has always enjoyed it. A massive 👍 to wizard Phoenix.
This was a really fun experience and a great thing to do with children. Would recommend to any family.
The wizard walk was excellent. My 8 & 6 year old really enjoyed it and walked all the way without issue (unlike the rest of the day). Jokes and magic tricks were pitched just right for children.
Not what I expected but lots of laughs and fun for the kids! Entertaining for the whole family with a little magic thrown in.
The Wizard tour was a highlight of our trip to York. Our 8 year old daughter loved the jokes and tricks and so did we. Uplifting and fun way to spend an hour in York.
Funny, witty. Great fun for all ages. Holds the children’s interest and gets them involved. Our grandchildren and children loved it and we are still talking about it days later.
A great experience for the children and adults alike with plenty of gags and wit from the wizard - many of them being dad worthy!. The children were enthralled and my two young ones were spellbound following the wizard around York city centre. It’s a fun way to orient yourself around the city centre and keep kids occupied for 90 mins or so!
We had an entertaining morning, great for smaller kids however we left without learning anything about York which was disappointing, the act would be perfect if it was a better mix of history and entertainment

Hi Donna, I'm glad you had a fun morning! We are absolutely not a historical tour though, and we don't advertise as one. There are lots of those - as well as museums - and many families who visit York do these too, so we'd only be repeating the same things.
We prefer to be different, and stand out by offering something unique. We focus on magical fun for families, and that's why we find that visitors love the experience. We firmly believe that adding history would only slow the pace, making the tour a lot longer too...and it's designed to be the perfect length for little legs.
We're magic, fun and laughter all the way, but do let know if you'd like any recommendations for historical activities in this enchanting city!
We recently went on the Wizard Walk tour in York with my husband and our grandson, and it was such a delightful experience for all of us.
The tour was lively, imaginative, and full of humour from start to finish. Our guide stayed completely in character as a wizard, which really brought the whole experience to life—especially for our grandson, who was totally enchanted the entire time. There were lots of fun interactive moments, little games, and storytelling that kept everyone engaged, not just the children.
It was also a lovely way to explore York, wandering through its historic streets while hearing entertaining tales along the way. We all appreciated how well the tour balanced fun with just enough local flavour to make it feel unique to the city.
Magic and silly jokes... What's not to like. I haven't come across a tour designed for children and the kids loved it. Giggled all the way round.

We went on this trip with our 6 and 3 year and they both had a fantastic time. Both kids were fully engaged throughout and found the walk both hilarious and entertaining, as did we! Would highly recommend and was a great way to spend a couple of hours in York
This tour was the highlight of our long weekend stayin York. My kids still talk about the wizard even now... Many months later. Highly recommend if visiting York with kids
Absolute wizardry 😀 great gags for adults and entertaining for kids. Well worth it. Parking is not easy though in town
The wizard was fab had some light hearted jokes for all to enjoy and the kids loved him, fun trip to book for the family would recommend⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Good fun event the wizard is daft as abrush. The wizard kept us entertained on a wet cold day in York. The children enjoyed his jokes and tricks.
Entertaining for families with children under 10 years of age. Was a good way to view the town centre although was not focused on the sites or history of York. Not what I expected but very good for younger kids.

I’m so glad your family enjoyed it though, and whilst it’s aimed at younger visitors we do find that a lot of older children (and yes, even some teens!) plus their grown-ups enjoy it too. I hope you all had a magical time in our enchanting city!
If anyone was born to do a job is his, all the family enjoyed the whole experience and he was so professional
Good fun and entertaining, well planned, funny for adults and kids, the Wizard managed the group/crowds really well, my eight year old granddaughter loved it!
We enjoyed this. My daughter and myself both found it funny. The wizard had a good energy and enthusiasm and nothing felt like it had been repeated all day. Not much history info but took you to some lovely parts of York and good fun!
