Ellie was a great guide and really upbeat and knowledgeable on not just Harry Potter but the spooky history of York too. Full of quizzes and interactive moments, our group all got along really well and laughed a lot. Would definately recommend this tour. Thanks for an amazing couple of hours Ellie! (Also top tier bookshop recommendations too!)

It was a brilliant time learning about all things Harry Potter in York. We laughed and learnt a lot. There was some much to learn not only about Harry Potter, but York in general. It was super interesting. We enjoyed every bit!!

Unfortunately we arrived 10 minutes after the booking time and no one was there. The road and construction works outside the York railway station are horrendous and it took a long time to spot the signs to find the meeting point (RF bus stop) amidst the many people walking about and the cars, etc. Pity…

Ellie was an excellent guide and tailored tour to young and old. Everyone participated in a fun team quiz and one Mom rocked it for her team. Besides all things Harry Potter we also learned fun historical facts of York.

Thoroughly enjoyed this tour with Ellie as our guide. She was super knowledgeable about York and Harry Potter, and she made the whole thing so fun. We got to pick houses from the sorting hat and were split into team for a HP quiz as we explored the city. Admittedly I expected more of the sites to be directly linked to HP as opposed to drawing similarities but I found that I really enjoyed learning about York with HP elements thrown in throughout the tour so nevertheless I really enjoyed it.

Well I was excited as the name suggested I was made to believe that we would get to see certain Harry Potter locations but it’s misleading. It’s actually a walking tour around certain sites in York with Harry Potter quiz in between. Although the guide was knowledgable, I was put off as the walking tour had no locations of Harry Potter shoots. If I knew this earlier I would not have chosen this. The meeting point was changed and directions were not clear but the tour waited till we arrived (10 mins late)

Couldn’t find the meeting place as there was a ton of construction and their directions aren’t clear. Messaged them at the time of the beginning of the tour telling them I couldn’t find them. They never responded. Called Viator who put me through to them. Asked for a refund and they said no, it was my fault I couldn’t find them.
Definitely do NOT recommend them.

Aliyah was great she was super friendly and nice. She was also a huge Harry Potter fan which I can definitely appreciate. I will say that there are no actual filiming locations of HP in York so don’t expect that but there’s tons of stuff that the stories are based on. I will also say that I enjoyed the quizzes a ton, but for those who aren’t super knowledgeable on Harry Potter it may be difficult for you to understand or enjoy. For me though I had a wonderful time!

Friendly tour guide Ellie was very knowledgeable and as the tour was over 2 hours kept everyone engaged. The quiz was great fun and really tested everyone's Harry Potter knowledge, fun for families, encouraged mingling within the whole tour group with some healthy competition. Ellie also gave us some great recommendations for other places to visit in York.

We are 4 Harry Potter grown up fans and had a fun couple of hours on the walk around York, answering Potter quiz questions and listening to our lovely guide Leah telling interesting facts about York and visiting parts of the city we wouldn’t normally go. It’s all a bit of a laugh and although York is not directly associated with York, we would recommend this trip for any Potter nerds.

The tour took us to all the best sites in the city and was bursting with facts without boring the little ones - which is no easy task.

It wasn’t great. Whilst we knew Harry Potter wasn’t actually filmed in York we thought it would be linked somehow to places around York. Instead it was over 30(!) of us traipsing around after a hungover guide whilst she asked random Harry Potter questions. My 6 year old liked answering the questions but we could have done this in any place anywhere in the world! If you actually want to see York this is not the tour for you and it’s a very tenuous link to Harry Potter!
