What are people saying about Rio de Janeiro

The organizer Henry was...
The organizer Henry was super flexible with communication and the tour guide Andrew was knowledgeable, super kind, and helpful! The views at sunrise were amazing and no photo would do justice. I would 100% recommend.
The trail should not be very hard for experienced hikers, and is quite short, though somewhat uphill. The motorbike ride is, as others have commented, perhaps not for the faint of heart though quite fun after you get used to it. The meeting point, Praça Vidigal was well populated with people preparing to hike, even before 4 AM, so no need to worry if you can get a ride directly there.
Some advice: Bring separate fair for the motorbike taxi ride each way (currently R$10 each way). Our guide kindly broke R$20 for some of us, but it is easier to just come with R$10 bills. Also for those with numberless esims: don't be like me and download and set up WhatsApp before leaving your home country for easier communication.

Great Tour Guide in Rio
Our tour guide was amazing and super friendly and knowledgeable. His English was impeccable. We had a great time, felt safe, and got to explore the city. Our favorite part was the Botanical Gardens where we got to see so much wild life. Our highlight was wild monkeys and toucans. Thank you!

Our best tour guide ever!
This was well worth the early departure from the hotel. Our pickup was ontime, safe, and very professional. We met our guide Ederson at the site for the view of the sunrise. He was very knowledgeable about the Redeemer and Rio as a whole. After sunrise we went up to the Redeemer and he continued to explain the history, opinions and conflicts of the citizens at the time. He went above and beyond the topics of the tour and explained a lot of other cultural topics about the country he obviously loves. He did such a great job that we hired him for the next day to take us around to some markets, the forest, a tour of the city, and to a nice quiet beach restaurant an hour outside the city. It was hands down the best experience we have had with a tour guide in our years of traveling. We inadvertently through conversation discovered that our son had Ederson as his guide 6 months prior and had been raving about him before we left for Brazil what are the odds. Thank you Ederson for the wonderful experience. We look forward to seeing you again soon. Matt and Trina.

History, Charm and Great Guiding
Marcela was an amazing guide! She is charming, incredibly knowledgeable, and made the tour enjoyable from start to finish. She guided the group seamlessly in both English and Portuguese and handled Rio’s traffic like a true professional. Thanks to her, we learned so much about the city’s history and culture. Highly recommended!

Rocinha Favela visit
This was a very stimulating, inspiring and memorable experience. We visited a place where 200,000 people live in a way so far from our experience at home. Our tour guide Roberto went out of his way to explain and answer our questions, and with him we felt ultra safe, many thanks to him. There were some 'eye opening' parts of this visit (no spoilers, you have to go to experience the reality of being in a favela). Highly recommended.

It was great to get out...
It was great to get out of the urban and busy part of the city to visit these two outdoor gems. Nobody else signed up for my tour so I got a solo guide! Wagner was very knowledgeable and clearly loves the outdoors, flora and fauna, and these two parks. He was able to guide me to some of the nicest scenes in the gardens and to a lovely waterfall and vista in the park.

If I could give this six stars, I would
If I could give this six stars, I would. Ines was a friendly and interesting guide on a tour which was both informative and enjoyable. It was great being close to this year's floats, and seeing and trying on some costumes and headdresses.
I learned a lot about Carnaval: this experience made me keen to see it for myself one day. Highly recommended.

Carnival Backstage Tour with Antonio
The Backstage Carnival Tour with Antonio was truly a highlight of visiting Rio de Janerio. The tour was better than advertised. Antonio, our tour guide accommodated us in several ways. Coming off the cruise ship, we had our luggage, so instead of walking, our guide hailed a cab, provided a commentary, stayed with us the entire time, took pictures and accompanied us to the airport. Antonio spoke several languages, including English. He was exxtremely helpful, courteous and professional.
We gained insight into the history and importance of Carnival, the spectacle, float and costume design, dancers, and more. Getting dressed in Carnival costumes was so much fun, and having a private opportunity to witness Carnival dancers was a nice surprise. This tour with Antonio was great, don't miss it.

You do have to be up...
You do have to be up early. Think 0400. But it's well worth it. The guide not only took us to the places, but he made sure we were able to take pictures and he gave us a brief history lesson on the attractions. The itinerary was adjusted to where we did the Selaron Steps before Christ the Redeemer but that was the best thing to do. We started at the top of the steps and walked down, instead of walking up. I think regardless of the time, especially during Carnaval season, it will be almost impossible to be the crowd at Christ the Redeemer.

Because of Carnaval missed part of tour
Unfortunately, because it was the Tuesday of Carnaval we did not get to go to the Santa Teresa Neighbourhood or the Selaron steps. I did not see that when I booked the tour. They apologize because they could not go because of all of the traffic and different parades going on that day. I wish I had known that I would’ve booked it for the day after. Otherwise, Christ, the redeemer was a must see. Wonderful tour guide.

Exceptional Day in Rio with Karla
We were picked up right at the cruise port by a private driver and our guide, Karla. Communication beforehand was excellent, with very clear instructions about the meeting point. Karla spoke excellent English and was energetic, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about her country. At each stop, the driver dropped us off and Karla guided us personally, sharing a wealth of information, taking photos for us, and making the experience feel very customized. We enjoyed a wonderful lunch at Carretão, a Brazilian steakhouse, which was a highlight of the day. Karla seemed to know everyone everywhere we went. At both Sugarloaf Mountain and Christ the Redeemer, she greeted the staff warmly and was able to take us straight to the front of the lines, which made a huge difference. It was a fantastic day and a tour I would absolutely recommend—especially with Karla as your guide.

Churches, theatres and coffee shops in old Rio
Millene was a fantastic guide. She tailored the trip to suit our family of four, ( including allowances for one with limited mobility) She showed us the highlights of old Rio, from the churches to the theatres - ending up with at a traditional coffee shop for pastries and drinks (coffee, tea and Guarana ) and was very engaging and a most knowledgeable guide.
