our first leg of the tour...

our first leg of the tour was to waterstone farm, which was incredible. we were able to feed the livestock and was pleasantly surprised with the animals. the animals were gentle creatures who knew that it was feeding time, what a treat for us! at the end of the tour we witnessed the farmer sheering a sheep! took all but 2 minutes! all in all the waterstone farm did not disappoint. the extra plus was Hadish (sp?), our driver. he is a delight. he gave us time to rest on the drive out since we had an early start. got us to our destination safely and then to our next stop where we changed vehicles. onto the coach we go with Keith. i can’t say anymore wonderful things about Keith. we made stop at the most beautiful spots, on our way to milford sound. he drove the coach like a rockstar, i give drivers so much credit! then the arrival to milford sound…if i had a sound affect it would be a bright sound, possibly with horns blowing. mind blowing is truly an understatement. if you’re ever visiting queenstown, please make the trip out to milford sound, absolutely worth the trip!

This was such a fun tour! It is the perfect amount of time. I loved seeing a Highland Cow in person! Feeding and learning about all the animals was so neat. The sheep shearing demonstration was really cool too. The lady that guided us was very friendly and answered all questions happily. The boat ride over was gorgeous. I can't imagine that being your view everyday!!

The trip of a lifetime

The fly-cruise-fly to Milford Sound is a must do! Everything from the pick-up from the hotel with Sam and the very friendly invite from him and our pilot Andrew that showed all of us their wealth of knowledge on our travels, to the magnificent scenery and views of the waterfalls, landscape, and sea life. Beautiful scenic trip with fantastic commentary

We had a wonderful day on this trip, our driver was Matt - who was wonderful! He gave us so much information along the drive, and could answer any question we had. It was an informative, entertaining and beautiful 4.30ish hour drive over which we were thoroughly enjoying. The cruise itself was busy, but was beautiful. We ended up flying home after the option was raised by our driver, which was great too! We would’ve enjoyed the trip home just as much on the road with the scenery and the fantastic Kea stops too, but it was magnificent to see from above.

Great Experience

The glass ceiling on the bus is such a nice touch to this experience so you can see the mountains along the drive. I sometimes get car sick on long drives but Debbie was a great driver. We had a few stops along the way to Milford Sound that were super cool! And the cruise was a blast! It rained on and off so just be prepared :) I’d recommend this tour to anyone interested in seeing Milford Sound.

Wonderful tour. Our guide, Anna, with Altitude Tours was outstanding. She knows the area. She knows her wines. She is a safe driver and made the journey fun and interesting. She also took us to some extra out-of-the-way places to enjoy the autumn scenery. We went to four wineries for tasting. We had a very nice lunch at one of them (Kinross Winery). If inside seating is a priority for you, arrive at least an hour early. It’s first come first serve. Otherwise you can sit outside, the seating is warm as it’s outside of the engine room and they give you blankets as well. They also do tray service outside so you can relax and have a drink.

After all the health and safety checks have been completed the real action began. After being geared up the plane ride to the jump takes about 15 mins which was a good ride with views of the lake and mt remarkable ranges. The jump it self takes about 5 mins till you reach the ground. I had a good instructor who made me feel calm. The free fall is so quick it finished before I could take it all in and the landing was so smooth.

Great was to see Milford Sound with limited time commitment

Great way to see Milford Sound in an afternoon, particularly if longer bus rides are not your thing. One ~30-minute flight to the sound, boat cruise and one ~30-minute flight back. Breathtaking views of the Sound and mountain ranges from above, coupled with a relaxing boat cruise through the fjord. We didn’t take advantage of the food onboard (but lovely to have seats reserved for our flight group), but did partake of a glass of wine and free coffee. Our pilot, Isabel was fantastic — great flier and tour guide, and our plane was comfortable and quiet. Pick up and drop-off from Queenstown was also a breeze.
