I'll take you to one of my favorite spots in Gorges du Verdon where I go with my family and friends. The best way to explore this unic place is to have a boat ride in the canyon, the biggest in all Europe. You'll drive your little private electric boat having a picnic with some local wines. You can jump to the water or just unwind admiring the nature (2 hours easy drive, very calm water). Then we'll stop on few lavender fields off the beaten path. If you have a chance, you'll be the only one strolling there and taking pictures. Their beauty is really indescribable, even after the blooming period! The next stop is the perched UNESCO village Sainte-Croix with its incredible view of the Sainte Croix lake. Lavender dreams come true

Simon was an excellent guide! He brought us to all the best spots — at exactly the right times!! We visited four different lavender fields. At the first (Les Grandes Marges) we tasted some different olive oils, had some drinks, learned about the different kinds of lavender, and took some photos. At the second (Lavandes Angelvin) we arrived just in time to see the distillation process in action. The next one we visited after our stop in Valensole, and the lavender at golden hour was truly incredible. At our last field (I think an unplanned stop), we got to witness harvesting right at sunset was amazing. The aroma was out of this world. The “dinner” stop in Valensole was the only not-so-great part — I did the tour on a Monday and almost everything was closed, including the restaurants. There was only one proper restaurant open, next to the Hotel de Ville, but they told a few people from our tour that they were reservations only (even though there was plenty of open seating). There are two ice cream/gelato places, but that’s not really dinner. So highly recommend for the lavender—but bring your own food for dinner.

What a wonderful side trip!

What a wonderful experience (again), all my Viator adventures have been great over the years and this trip out to the lavender farms with our tour guide/driver Chris was no exception. Too bad he's retiring soon though I'm so pleased for him -- he was nice, funny, and accommodating with lots of little interesting facts. If you're near Valensole, you've got to go - it's charming.

Lovely lavender

Meeting point outside the tourist information centre, which was easy. Lovely drive to the lavender fields with Anthony, our very knowledgeable driver. He took us to some lovely locations and we even got to see the lavender being harvested, amazing smell! Then onto sunflower fields and some great photo opportunities. Finished with a tasting and talk at an olive oil production facility. Lots of products to buy - olive oils, lavender and local wines - I recommend the rosé! Knowledgeable attentive driver who even gave us some restaurant recommendations, thank you Anthony. Great experience, so glad we didn’t try to hire a car and do it on our own!

Best experience in Provence!!

This was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. Emily was incredibly knowledgeable and brought amazing charisma and energy to the entire day. She was a phenomenal tour guide. I was traveling solo and I felt very safe and cared for the entire experience. She knew all the best places to stop, even went the extra mile of dropping me off at my hotel after we were done. I would recommend to anyone and everyone and look forward to booking another experience with her and her family if I should ever come back!

Great Experience!

It was a great tour! Very casual and less of a group activity once you are there which was nice. Our tour guide AD was AMAZING! Overall very easy, and convenient for what we wanted to do. Had a great time. Only thing is the van is kind of small and your packed in, it was a little toasty on curvy roads.

Worth it

Relaxing, easy, saw all of the sights we could have wanted to see at a fraction of the time and stress. After a long week of traveling, busses, trains, and shore excursions, this experience made us wish we could do it all over again with more of this. Book it, you won’t regret it. Only thing to keep in mind is the driver, who is excellent, doesn’t walk you around the sights himself. He front loads you with info and then lets you wander. This worked well for my family, but might be different than some people expect.

Amazing tour and an amazing guide!

Was one of the best excursions I have had. Not only did we get to see a lot, I learned about culture, wine, and scenery. Our tour guide Celestine was truly such a wonderful person and was relatable and knowledgeable about the entirety of our tour. The wineries we visited were top notch with one being more modern and the other being a generational winery that was beautiful. After this, the Luberon section was tastefully done and didn’t feel too long or too short. Overall, I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to optimize their time in France and learn and experience as much as possible. Additionally, one last shout out to Celestine, you truly were such a delight!

Best small group tour in Provence

Our guide Eric is a warm French countrymen with charming accent. He is friendly, professional and knowledgable about the area. Not only has he entertained us with the local history but also the story of the boutique tour company where he works alongside the director Godana and her daughter Emily. The tour operates in small groups ( max 8) and is well organised to include all major touristic sites over just 5 hours. It is short but sweet, perfect for someone with a quick stopover in Avignon who wants a snapshot of the beautiful villages. I love the lavender ice cream recommended by Eric and will definitely come back for another tour with Eric and Godana.

Magical views.

We travelled with Emmanuel to 4 hilltop villages - Gordes, Roussillion , Lourmarin and Ansouis. What a fantastic experience. We walked around the villages ourselves which was fine - 90 minutes each in the first two which were the biggest and busiest and then 45 minutes each in the other two. Emmanuel advised us what to look for and at in each village. His problem was parking the van because parking is difficult in these places- so he had to drop us off and then go a long way away and return to the designated pick up spot. He did a fantastic job and the day was brilliant - highly recommended.

Beautiful day in Cassis!

The perfect day in Cassis! Beautiful scenery (boat ride to see les Calanques) The town of Cassis is nice, restaurants are various and, in general, very good. A stop at the wineyard “Domaine de Pagnol” for nice wine tasting. Our guide ( Julien) was knowledgeable, professional and pleasant. I recommend.

Great Overview

This tour was a wonderful experience. While I have taken two other tours this week in Provence (Cassis and Luberon Villages), this was a really great overview and a chance to go to Avignon. Also Pont du Gard, Chateau Neuf de Pape and Les Baux. Each one of these was a very special experience. While it was a lot of driving in between spots, that was a time to relax and refresh, drink water, and get lots of interesting information from our guide, who is incredibly kind with all our questions. I would highly recommend this trip. Just a tip from my experience, be sure to review all the trips in this area and save them to a favorites, because you make it canceled at the last minute like I did. I need to come up with a back up.
